Introduction
CHAT, Suite for marimba duo is an arrangement of Dialogue 12 variations for marimba The main item of this book is listening. As the phrases are quickly jumping from one player to the other, it is extremely important to take over the same tempo, dynamic, the same kind of phrasing… so that at the end the listener has an experience to hear one sound, one player. Unless especially mentioned, tempo changes as well as dynamic changes are for both players. The book is directed to intermediate players. All compositions can be played on a 4 1/3 marimba. Biography
After his classical percussion studies, Bart studied marimba with Robert Van Sice. Bart was invited by more than sixty orchestras and ensembles. His experience contains a wide variety: ancient music, symphony, opera, contemporary, jazz, pop… Bart had the privilege to play with Mike Mainieri, Trilok Gurtu, Doudou 'nDiayé Rose, Robert Martin (ex Frank Zappa) and also with the greatest Belgian jazz players in bands like Kris Defoort’s Dreamtime and Brussels Jazz Orchestra (with Maria Schneider). Bart played on several festivals like North Sea Jazz Festival, Blue Note festival, Festival de Marseille, Ars Musica…
Besides his performing schedule Bart teaches mallets (classical and jazz) at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. As a clinician or jury member, he was invited in conservatories abroad.

Besides over 70 CD’s as sideman, Bart realized also projects as a leader: with his quintet he recorded his debut album Thank You (De Werf 058) next to the CD Profiles 24 Essais for vibraphone and piano (De Werf 099). The double solo CD Life Path (Et’cetera now) contains Focus and Image. Bart was laureate of the Sabam Contest for Composition for Jazz-themes 2000 and 2002. Bart toured through Europe, USA, Argentina, and the Far-East.
