Projects from the Mu Over the years, we’ve accumulated a lot of project cars and a lot of Mustang Parts. The fact that we’ve had many of these for years and years, plus the fact that I’m not getting any younger, have made me decide that maybe they would be better off in the hands of someone who would finish them. So I have put a few in this sales flyer to see if there is any interest.

1994 Bondurant Mustang Shell

It’s time for house cleaning here at Mustangs Plus and we’re seeing if anyone out there needs some of the many treasures we’ve acquired. This offering is for Mustang bodies that we’ve kept over the years. They are all coupes, 1965 to 1967, and are in various conditions from shells with no fenders or doors to a couple of fairly complete cars that need to be restored. Some have titles, some don’t. So if you’re looking for a Mustang shell, whether for a quarter panel or to build into a track car, a Restomod or just to restore, give me a call. They are priced to sell, not to just to continue to sit and take up space!

This was the #1 1994 Mustang Cobra that was used as a show car before it was used on the track. Painted in the Gulf oil colors of Orange and blue, it was a great looking Cobra Mustang! The owner I got it from used the engine and drive train in a Cobra kit car. After the drive train was removed, the body sat for years. There are no doors, but I have most all of the other body parts sitting on a pallet and it still has the roll cage intact. With a 1994 or 1995 donor Mustang, it could be put back to it’s beautiful original condition. As with all Bondurant Mustangs, they don’t have titles and are sold on a bill of sale.

1991 Firebird Convertible

1979 Mustang Hatchback Shell

It’s not a Mustang, but it’s still deserves to be restored. This complete 1991 Firebird convertible was bought many years ago and was in running condition at the time. However, it had a knock when the engine was running. One of only 950 Firebird convertible made in 1991, it is a complete car that will need to be totally restored. Originally Medium Maui Blue Metallic with gray and black interior and a black convertible top. 305 (5.0) with automatic. Has some light quarter panel damage on the right rear, otherwise clean.

Do you have a Fox Chassis track car? What happens if it gets damaged? Here is a 1979 Mustang hatchback shell that you can easily swap all of your expensive parts into. Or, do you want to build a Fox Chassis track car? This shell will save you time and money as it already has had a roll cage installed in it and will get you ahead of the game. The body is very clean without a lot of damage or rust, but it has sat outside for many years and is very dirty. Sold on a bill of sale, could be titled. Dirt and mold are free.

1969 Restomod Boss 302

1966 Mustang Coupe Kit

I started out to build a 1969 Boss 302 clone but ended up starting Project V32 which was one project that never got completed. But, I’m hoping it will. Here’s the details. The body is an “H” code 351 Mustang SportsRoof. Wanting newer power, The Restomod Shop custom built the engine bay to accept a 1998 Cobra DOHC engine and 5-speed transmission. For the front suspension, a Ron Morris Track Force Front Suspension was modified and installed. The 32 Valve Cobra DOHC engine, Project V32, 5-speed and Track Force suspension come with the body. The large 1969 side quarter panel side scoops have been eliminated just like on the 1969 Boss 302 Mustangs. However, the Boss 429 Mustang retained them. Includes the 4.6 DOHC engine, 5-speed transmission, Ron Morris front suspension system and more. Years ago, I bought a project in progress which was a 1966 Mustang Coupe with a ton of new parts. The new parts include both new fenders, both new doors, a new trunk lid, new fender aprons, a complete new floor and trunk assembly, a new taillight panel, a new G.T.350 fiberglass hood, and a lot of other new parts and accessories that I will have to make a list of as I’ve forgotten all of them. The body has been blasted but has gotten wet and the surface has some surface rust. Also, the front aprons need to be replaced as they are damaged. Come and inspect everything before you buy!

1997 Mustang GT Convertible This Mustang is complete but not running. Great for parts or to fix up. The previous owner started to remove the engine, the reason is unknown. I bought it to keep it from going to the junk yard. And if nobody is interested, it still might go there! White with beige leather interior and convertible top. Body in good condition but not perfect. A great project for someone wanting a GT Convertible of this body style for a long term project. Have California title and bill of sale from past owner who stated it was on Non-Op.

MUSTANG PROJECT UPGRADES

TO MAKE YOUR MUSTANG MORE FUN TO DRIVE! SWAY BAR //// Add a larger diameter front sway bar to your classic Mustang! The 5\8” diameter front sway bar with rubber frame mount bushings and rubber end link bushings that came from the factory on most classic Mustangs was better than nothing, but way too small for the Mustang. Especially when the Mustang is equipped with upgraded tires and wider wheels. One of the first changes that Carroll Shelby made to his Shelby Mustangs was to increase the front sway bar diameter to a full 1”. It’s that important to good handling.

The front sway bar is designed to allow the front wheel assemblies (tire, wheel, spindle and front brake assembly) to move up and down together without any resistance over dips and drops in the road. However, when going through a curve, one wheel assembly becomes loaded with g-force, compresses the front coil spring, and goes up in the fender well as more body weight is shifted to it. When this happens, the other wheel gets lighter because the g-force is being shifted off of that wheel assembly as the body rolls towards the other wheel assembly. The sway bar is designed to “twist” and to keep pressure on the unloaded wheel assembly which the load is not on and pull down on the frame/unibody of the car. This reduces the body roll and makes both wheel assemblies more stable. Also, for the sway bar to even start to work, it has to first crush the rubber frame bushings and rubber end link bushings to a point where the bar will twist. This is a very slow process with rubber bushings. Mustangs Plus’ 1” and 1 1\8” Grab-A-Trak® Front Sway Bar Kits come complete with polyurethane frame bushings and polyurethane end link bushings which is much denser than rubber and makes the sway bar work much faster. This is a very easy upgrade you can make to your classic Mustang in your garage at home and you will see an immediate difference in handling and safety!

This is an area people don’t think about until they’re forced to; and usually, it’s at a most inconvenient time. Like the day before they’re heading out to the big Mustang show they’ve been waiting to go to for months. In reality, you should be so lucky as to have a radiator problem before a planned trip. If a radiator problem happens while you’re actually driving your Mustang, you run the risk of overheating the engine and doing a lot of internal damage. This can be very costly, especially if you’re away from home. Take the time to check out your cooling system. At the very least, you should flush your cooling system every spring. If there are any problems, change the radiator and the hoses, the thermostat, and radiator cap with new, just to be safe. You’ll be protecting your engine against overheating and be ready for summer driving! If you do it during the winter or spring months, the best part is you won’t have to worry about it all summer! Then just a quick flush next winter and you’re ready for the next year. PRODUCTS, FACTS & SAVINGS ORDER TODAY AND GET STARTED! SHOCKS //// Grab a set of KYB GAS-A-JUST Shocks Absorbers! This is the “quick fix” for stock classic Mustang suspension! If you don’t want to upgrade your suspension with springs and sway bars, upgrade your shocks absorbers with KYB GAS-A-Just. You’ll see a big difference in the ride and handling with a new set of KYB GASA-JUST shocks which are a high pressure gas shock that puts force upward when installed on your car. This upward pressure acts the same as stiffer springs to give you a firmer ride and better handling. This upward force also will raise the car slightly but won’t fix sagged or worn out springs. Be sure to change all 4 shocks at the same time as just changing the front or back will result in a “strange” handling car. I know! I’ve done it! Also, for street applications, do not use KYB GAS-A-JUST shocks with upgraded coil and leaf springs. If you do, the ride becomes very harsh and going over railroad tracks will shake your teeth out! Again, I know because I’ve done it. However, the combination is great at the track!

Rebuild the heater in your classic Mustang! Rebuilding your heater is a job worth doing for a couple of reasons. The first reason is simple. If you are going to drive your Mustang when the weather is cold, you want to make sure you have a good heater and defroster. The other is that this is a much overlooked area of the classic Mustang. In fact, most people usually only address this when they need a heater or defroster and it doesn’t work. Or, when they get hot antifreeze dripping out of the heater box and onto their carpet. Or, onto their passengers feet. Mustangs Plus has all of the heater rebuilding parts you need available: heater core, heater seal kit, heater defroster chamber and defroster hoses. You can buy each separately or get them all in our Heater Rebuild Kit. As for doing this job in your home garage, if you have a 1964 1\2 to 1966 Mustang, all heaters and defrosters are the same regardless of engine size or whether equipped with factory air conditioning or not. These are very easy to change and any one with automotive knowledge should be right at home with this job. 1967 to 1968 Mustangs without factory air conditioning are the same. However, starting in 1967, the air conditioning and heater were all part of same system and much harder to rebuild. These can be done in your home garage but are much more labor intensive than the 1964 1\2 to 1966 and 1967 non-factory air Mustangs. Leaf-Spring Selection Tips

Eye style determines car height see chart below. Leaf count determines ride quality and performance level. Four-leaf springs provide a ride slightly firmer than stock GT leaf springs, and are the correct choice for mostly street driven vehicles. Four and onehalf-leaf springs are recommended for moderate performance and occasional drag racing. The extra half leaf provides additional stiffness between the forward eye and axle, better resisting spring wrap-up. Five-leaf springs provide the firmest ride and resistance to wrap up, and are primarily used for performance driving.

Standard Eye

OEM leaf springs position the eyes above the centerline of the spring stack. This places the axle at its furthest distance from the chassis, commonly referred to as the stock ride-height position.

Mid Eye

Adding a counter bend at the base of each eye repositions the mounting bolts to sit along the centerline of the spring stack. This brings the axle closer to the chassis, lowering the vehicle roughly half the diameter of the spring eyes, or approximately 1”.

Reverse Eye

Coiling the spring eyes in the opposite direction from stock, places the mounting bolts below spring-stack centerline, resulting in a ride height roughly 1-1/2” below stock. The ultra-low stance creates a sleek vehicle profile, and lowers the vehicle’s center-of-gravity for improved handling.

MUSTANG UPGRADES TO MAKE YOUR MUSTANG MORE FUN TO DRIVE!

Electric Power Steering “This is one of the best things I’ve done to make my Mustang more fun to drive!” says Mustangs Plus customer, Ron Hug. That’s a big statement because Ron has a 427W with a Tremec 3550 HD 5-speed transmission in his 1964 1\2 Mustang Convertible. In short, it’s a moving violation just sitting still! But seriously, Ron has always wanted to add power steering to his Mustang but didn’t want to have to hang a power steering pump on his beautiful engine and run the v-belt and all of the power steering hoses to the power ram and control valve. He was always afraid of power steering fluid leaks on his garage floor and the constant repairing of leaking components. Then we discovered EPAS. Electric Power Assist Steering. EPAS truly brings today’s technology to our Classic Mustangs and other classic cars as most of today’s cars use electric power steering technology. No power steering pump, hoses or fluid to mess with. Everything fits up under the dash, tucked away out of sight as it should be. The only change to any original parts is to the steering column and the steering shaft (1965-1966 only) which has to be modified to accept the EPAS assembly. Once installed, you can increase or decrease the steering effort you feel at the steering wheel. There are so many positives and no real negatives, except for cost. And if you really compare the cost, it’s not that much more to add a modern electric power steering system to your Classic Mustang verses rebuilding or adding conventional v-belt and fluid driven power steering. “To scrub or not to scrub”, that is the question! Remember, there will never be a power steering fluid leak on your engine or on your garage floor with EPAS!

Easy Conversion

Swapping in a T-5 5-speed transmission in place of an original 3-speed, ed, 4-speed or C-4 automatic transmission is one of the most asked aboutt up-grades we’re asked about here at Mustangs Plus. We’ve done this upgrade so many times that we can almost do it in our sleep! It’s simple and straight forward and requires no modifications to the car or the underbody of the car. It can be done in just a few of hours if your Mustang is equipped with a 3-speed or 4-speed manual transmission. You even use your existing flywheel, clutch, bell housing and bell crank, which saves a lot of time and a lot of money! Or, you can replace the clutch and bell housing with new parts and you can replace the bell crank with a new cable clutch assembly or a hydraulic clutch, if you prefer. However, the original parts will work just fine with the conversion. Installation will take around 4 or 5 hours longer if you’re going from a C-4 automatic to the T-5 5-speed. You will have to add the flywheel, pilot bushing, bellhousing, clutch assembly and bell crank, cable clutch assembly or hydraulic clutch as well as the clutch pedal under the dash. All of this takes additional time. The one thing you will have to do that you can’t do at home is to shorten the drive shaft. Most cities have a driveline service close by that can do this service. Or, you can buy a new driveline of the proper length from Mustangs Plus. Remember, whatever you need to complete the T-5 conversion, Mustangs Plus has all of the parts in stock or can get them (for that rare one off occasion!) to suit your needs. Upgraded Driver and Passanger Seats The vast majority of our Classic Mustangs came from the factory with bucket seats. A few had the optional bench seat with the fold-down arm rest in the middle. Whichever you have, they are simply seats. They give you little or no support and until 1968, when they became options, there were no headrest.
