The room of Requirement
“It is a special place that resonateds on both side of the border.” A library located in the broader of Canada and America is called Haskell Free Library. It is a shared cultural center and study space for nearby communities. This is not only the intersention of the border, but also the intersection of the thoughts of the people from two countries.
Powers of Ten

Film Powers of Ten exployed the system of exponential powers to show the siginificance of scale visually. It illustrates the relative size relationships of elements through time and space, and expose what happenes when add 10 to the equation. This film represents how people see this world from the smallest and the largest vantage point, which influences the way of understanding the world.
The Library of Babel
“Hexagonal rooms are a necessary form of absolute space or, at least, of our intuition of space” The library consists of a group of galleries with shape in hexagonal. The number of the hexagonal galleries are uncountable and infinite. Every hexagonal gallery is equipped with vast air shafts, surrounded with low handrails.
Tama Art University Library by Toyo Ito
“A place of collaboration, contemplation, and relaxation.” The facade design of this building is unique. Semi-circular design sparates different spaces by the intersection of rows. It also give those spaces a sense of spatial contiunity. This library is a place for people to discover their unique intersection between books and themselves.
Monash Caulfield Library by John Wardle Architects
“Creating a library that was legible-externally and internally-was a fundamental aim of our design.” Caufield Library is opened to the campus while its original architectural language is kept. The useable study spaces are doubled after reconstruction. The west façade is marked by the architecturally characteristic steel and mesh structure, and its complex cantilever truss system can be regarded as a sign for identity of library.
Stuttgart City Library by Yi Architects
This library is square-shaped with five stories, surrounded by a shell of books. The symmetrical form design is based on the “Cenotaph for Newton” by Étienne Boullée, and the internal design is inspired by the design of the ancient pantheon. The internal circulation is spirally arranged between the reading room areas, designed as a flowing corridor, flooded by the light from the glass roof.

Camera can record views by panning and zooming as directed, images will be shown on the glass to create different views. “Architecture must be read, understood in the same way as a written text.” Daniel Libeskind created Memory Machine, Reading Machine, and Writing Machine that were inspired by reading and writing texts, which contains understanding of architecture. Those machines are powerful presence and highly instructive as object design.
