VIRTUAL SECOND NIGHT
D
ear readers,
As in reality, people in many virtual worlds celebrate festivities, such as Halloween, Christmas or Valentine's Day. In these festivities our world is full of themed decors. Infact, during February there are a lot of places and many suggestions to celebrate Valentine's Day. In the present issue you can find both news about more realistic bodies and about Valentine's Day.
as Second life users we can observe that virtual reality is becoming a part of people’s day-to-day lives, more and more people may prefer to spend a majority of their time in virtual spaces. Now we can image that virtual reality will be totally realistic and compelling and we will spend most of our time in virtual environments. In some way, we could say that we will all become virtual humans. Far from these futuristic ideas, Keep calm and read the it's true that the virtual worlds magazine! like Second Life will become increasingly realistic and bring a level of immersion unlike any that has come before it. With virtual reality, instead of simply escaping reality by focusing on a TV show, for example, people may choose to replace an unhappy reality with a better, virtual one.

ear readers, we interviewed the creator of the brand Altamura Group Design, Mrs. Rumegusc Altamura, an avatar that with his passion and tenacity, is becoming known and proposed his idea of shape and skin, gracefully into the virtual world of Second Life. 1) How did you hear about the virtual world? - *laughs* If I tell you, you surely don't believe me. I'm passionate about economics and complementary currencies. In 2007 I was watching the breaking news and there was a discussion about LindenLan, I was curious to know how it worked and how could there be a business so big. Immediately devoted to the build that I have aged in OpenSim.

2) Tell me about your passion in making the Altamura's Group.? - I love challenges and I trust in myselft because I have in real life business experience. Now, as we know, we use blender for anything and here comes the first avatar "Altamura mesh avatar" and then founded the group with my friend and partner FixGel Planner.

3) What advantage have led the mesh in SecondLife? - For me it was time to say goodbye to sculpt objects. The meshes have possibility infinitely superior, both as construction and as texturizing. 4) What are the strong points of your products? - In the context of the avatar customization or apparence, our shapes and skins leave the customer satisfied at 100% thanks to the work of the professionals who work whit us. 5) What advice could you give to those who want to begin to work in Second Life? - There are only four words: professionalism, humility, courage and tenacity.

ry a surgical operation on a three-dimensional model of the patient before the patient himself, draw virtually a new model of car or tool, simulate in a room the environment of a future space exploration, get customers to the inside of the project related to their brand new building. These are just some of the possible applications of the latest applications of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) like Gravity Sketch designed to interact with wearable devices like Oculus Rift viewers or Microsoft Hololens, rather than immersive 3D virtual worlds. But before you even think about “business” uses, Gravity Sketch developers team seems to point to, once again, on
the ludic sector. So here’s the latest innovation in terms of VR / AR is called LegoX, a software which allows to realize 3D digital constructions starting from “physical” bricks. In practice, your son will be able to create with his Lego (Duplo or) its construction LegoX favorite and it will create a digital copy for his tablet. As Gravity Sketch, LegoX bridges the gap between the real and virtual worlds, making the design more “tactile”: building not only beautiful to look graphically but also “touchable” in real life and viceversa, relying on the desire of each of us to play with our toys (not necessarily only by children). LegoXHow does LegoX work? Basically the bottom of each brick has a sensor
Virtual Seond night - Issue 35 - February 2015
and a gyroscope, that enable individual pieces communicate with one another and with the software, whereby each time a brick stack above the other this is displayed on a tablet in real time. Once you have the digital file is then possible to modify it for example to remove the protuberances from bricks, smooth edges, add windows, change the texture and look to get to the virtual version of the real construction toy to a machine, a tool or a building. The project is still in the early stages and Gravity Sketch team should still be able to build customized electronic components that can be added to the Lego or Duplo bricks available at any toy store. There also are those who wonder whether such software really has its uses as already designing software using digital 3D graphics. According to the developers, however, there is much difference between exchanging digital files via email or even change to a video image 3D graphics and be able to “touch with
hands and add each time a new brick (literally!) to the building, as you can see in the video below. To learn more of VR and AR technologies, continue to follow Mondivirtuali.it, also through our account on Twitter and our fanpage on Facebook (but remember: Mondivirtuali is even on Flickr, on Pinterest, on Scoop.it and on Paper.li, as well as on Youtube).

Over 300 virtual worlds on Opensim Mondivirtuali Writer Lukemary Slade

ood news for Opensim, which according to the latest monthly ranking curated by Maria Korolov for Hypergridbusiness saw active virtual worlds on its open source application platform get to the level of 303, for a total of 56,667 regions.A success that you should certainly inexpensiveness of the platform, the costs of hosting start at a minimum of 5 dollars per month compared to 300 dollars a month for a Second Life‘s sim. Most of these regions allow the use of “teleport” system (“hypergrid“) to switch from one to another, just like in Second Life (with some exceptions: 4,093 re-
gions are on “closed grid” ie allow access only to owners, while 52,555 are on “open grid” that is freely accessible by anyone). Always according to Maria Korolov to the success in terms of new virtual land made available, also corresponds to a strong performance of new user registrations: the total would go up in January to 423,893, of which 25,620 actrive in the latest month (in Dicember the number was still under 25 thousand), a number which, btw, remains a fraction compared to the population of “residents” of the Linden Lab‘s proprietary platform (according to Gridsurvey’s numbers the total number of registered users in SL is now over 41.17 million,
Virtual Seond night - Issue 35 - February 2015
of which from 30 to 50 thousand connected simultaneously during the day) and that remains the core of mistrust by many paid content creators, about the start of their own business on Opensim.
commitment that this require the real barrier that keeps away the bulk of users (that are not necessarily creative and/ or artists) and companies (“virtual” or “real” you want) from such technology.
Metropolis 2015Certainly, as the low costs allow many educational and cultural projects to realize its facilities or entire virtual worlds on OpenSim for a fraction of fixed costs that would pay on Second Life, the number of active users on a monthly basis can be distorted by the presence of many of these institutions and projects.
Anyway here’s the list of the five most active virtual worlds on Opensim in the month of January 2015: as they say well begun is half done.Avination 2015
However, it remains the feeling that untill the interest in virtual worlds in general, maybe thanks to the gradual mass adoption of 3D viewers as Oculus Rift (to whose technology also OpenSim is fully compatible), will not rise again, the range of Opensim will remain more limited than those, already not huge, of Second Life, also because it is the management of a virtual world and the time

ood feelings, acts of love, assorted sweets, romantic dinners and flowers. These are the ingredients that in the day of February 14 will amalgamate for Valentine's Day in honor and memory of Saint Valentine but who was SaintValentine? The history of Saint Valentine and his adoption as the patron saint of lovers is controversial and mysterious. According to some reconstructions Emperor Claudius II wanted to convert him to paganism, Valentine refused and was imprisoned, stoned and beheaded for this. The modern practice of celebration of the holyday instead focuses on the exchange of messages of love and gifts between lovers, it probably dates back to Medieval times and could be specifically attributed to the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in which taken form the tradition of courtly love. To its diffusion, especially in France and England, contributed the Benedictines, through their numerous monasteries, having been custodial the Basilica of Saint Valentine in Terni since the second half of the VII century. And during the day before Sanit Valentine, from Greece, comes the news of the discovery of the remains of two lovers embraced resting together by 6 thousand years.

man and a woman from the Neolithic period have been found during excavations in front of the entrance of the North Cave Alepotrypa in the Peloponnese. So let's keep close the feast of love and good feelings, trying to celebrate it every day of the year and it is the love that we are talking about, the feeling that fills deeply if the existence of each of us, single or in couple. For love is the feeling that with the expressions and different ways unites us to the parents, relatives, friends, our love, our partner, our children, a feeling to feed, heal, protect, or risk serenity and happiness of ourselves and those with whom we share life. Love shouldn't to be understood, must be communicated, expressed by gestures, words, expressions of affection, passion, dedication, kisses, smiles and caresses. In the moment of tension, even with strangers, a smile and a handshake can report problems in the tracks of reasonableness. But it is right that once a year to celebrate this love is great and Valentine gives us the opportunity.

or better or worse we all know there are many types of manga: from the most entertaining to those sometimes "ecchi". owever it's impossible to believe that there are ways to play "in the game" as a kind of digital inception in another digital world: your avatar can really become a star of an ecchi game or you can look for those who want to take this lifestyle in their SecondLife experience. I have to admit I found funny the opportunity to explore lands where there were available ecchi RPGs, you'll wonder why.

he answer is simple, visit schools in scolar uniform was fun because it seemed to be just in a video game in which it was possible to find other
players. Those who love the genre certainly know fun and hot places but I can tell you that there are many stores that provide accessories or avatar suited to this kind of style. The first is Utilizator, the undisputed king of the genre manga/anime in SecondLife, the first in each ranking with record sales of its avatar "Kemono", to follow I discovered ZeroStyle and then a shop less visible but definitely aimed at an adult audience, known as Mokyou which provides accessories to complete everything needed for a story hentai or sensual. The imagination has no limits and has no limit the malice of a game especially if it is something you like, in SecondLife there is no limit to what you want to do and it is rightly so because otherwise there could be a parallel reality to life everyday.

t's almost spring time and the sun even in Sl. Time to look for places full of color and rebirth. In fact this will happen soon, the spring equinox, and possibly earlier, nature will start to wake up and, within us, the desire for sun and activity will give way to "hibernate" winter. I remember hearing about often, unfortunately only in the web, the famous festival of Holi in India. I have not had a chance to see it, but I was satisfied of video, music and stories. I want to involve you a little 'on this trip and then let yourself be an appointment.
In India The Holi is a spring festival also known as the festival of colours or the festival of love.It is an ancient Hindu religious festival which has become popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia, as well as people of other communities outside Asia. The festival has, in recent times, spread to parts of Europe and North America as a spring celebration of love, frolic, and colours.

oli celebrations start with a Holika bonfire on the night before Holi where people gather, sing and dance. The next morning is a freefor-all carnival of colours, where participants play, chase and colour each other with dry powder and coloured water, with some carrying water guns and coloured water-filled balloons for their water fight. Anyone and everyone is fair game, friend or stranger, rich or poor, man or woman, children and elders. The frolic and fight with colours occurs in the open streets, open parks, outside temples and buildings. Groups carry drums and musical instruments, go from place to place, sing and dance. People visit family, friends and foes to throw colours on each other, laugh and chit-chat, then share Holi delicacies, food and drinks. This year falls between 28 February and 15 March the first full moon night (Dhulhendi) in the month of Phalgun, which also marks the beginning of spring.(by Wikipedia ) One of my blogger friend who lives in India has described several times that day and the atmosphere; "The Holi falls for that moment of celebration the severity of social norms, because on that day does not seem to be differences between people of different caste, among men and women and between rich and poor, all together, they get to the fun and joy. Nobody expects a polite behavior, as a result, the atmosphere is full of excitement and spontaneity. On the day of Holi, as every year, I will not go to work and, from the window of my house, sandwiched between many other homes, in many narrow streets, I can enjoy the fun of the people who get dirty colored water at each other, both in India, this season, it is not cold and that day is even less because it is the warmth of the people who live, forgetting for a day their caste and their sex, they feel, at least for a moment, all the same. Go down my stairs and go into the street, knowing that someone, a stranger, will approach me and will color my face and my clothes. I have no idea if in Second Life will celebrate and how long. This year there will be; in my little land that you will see decorated for the occasion, March 14 starting at 12:00 to 15:00 pm, Sl time will host the "Happy Holi". Ketty with me has created the environment; the music and the dancing with dj known in the virtual world will bring some of that joy. And as any event in the land of Ashraya the aim is to raise funds for India; bring "colors and help" to where it all for me was a new beginning. So the event is scheduled for March 14 at Ashraya Support of Virginia Lupindo in colorful clothes or as you wish. You are welcome even in the days before the feast; you will find gifts and information. See you there! “Happy Holi to you all.
