VIRTUAL SECOND NIGHT
S
ummer is back! For those living in the northern hemisphere it is time for scorching hot, while in the southern hemisphere is “winter. In both cases, the virtual worlds are an escape from the heat and intense cold. If you want to cool off in the waves in Second Life there are beautiful tropical beaches, or you can enjoy the cool of the woods. In fact, one of the peculiarities of the virtual world is that user can manage the weather at his/ her desire. It is not of little significance if there are 40 degrees outside ! Regarding Virtual Second life, the logo of the magazine changes from this number. More news are following in autumn .

t's Hair Fair again! Hair Fair is one the most awaited and popular event for Second Life's fashion-victims.
This is year is the 10th. anniversary and organizers and designers did their best to surprise the visitors. The Fair occupied four sims and involeved 80 designers circa. Hairstyles are created new and exclusive for the duration of the event, with a minimum of three styles per store, all items sold at Hair Fair donate a minimum percentage of 15% to Wigs for Kids. Wings for Kids is a nonprofit organization that has been serving children suffering from hair loss since 1981. For over 30 years, Wigs for Kids has been providing Hair Replacement Systems and support for children who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, Alopecia, Trichotillomania, burns and other medical issues at no cost to children or their families. And on July 26th. Hair Fair's organizators call upon residents to remove their hair and wear a bandana instead. All bandanas sold at Hair Fair 2015 have been created by residents all over SL and 100% of sales of those go to Wigs for Kids! These creations are only available for sale during this event, and destroyed after it ends.

Pandora box of dream Adventure in an paradise is land writer and photographer : Zily Resident
D
espite the hot weather that affects everyone in the world the exploration of the world of Second Life doesn't stop , at least the avatar in this case doesn'tt suffer from the hot or it would be virtually cooked as we. However, the target for this summer is Pandora box of dream, someone could've already heard of it or directly visited, in fact a few months ago in addition to being one of the recommended destinations had an oriental style and a little fantasy, but now is obviously changed.

P
andora's box now has the appearance of a tropical paradise and is perfect for this summer so hot, unfortunately it isn't real and we could enjoy it only with the eyes, but it's certainly nice to visit. It must be said that there are no secret passages, hidden places or little secrets and is easy to visit, it will be enough to decide a direction and turn around the small tropical island without problems. It can't miss parasols and bath towels as in every beach, there's even a cute sand castle, but it isn't trivial in fact following the paths can be found other refreshment area and one of the strengths of this land is a trampoline that directly overlooking the sea. It isn't immediately visible when you arrive on the island and you have to turn it a bit to find it, but well worth the effort. Another strong point of the island that I really appreciate is a ship decorated and equipped like a huge tent, inside there is even a small bar, lounge chairs and a comfortable bed, there is virtually everything, but you can only reach it by swimming for a while. It seems a bit out of place and from distance may seem simply a ship is no longer able to navigate as it is split down the middle, but gives the land a pirate. style that is always good.
81
82 | VSN - Issue 40 - July / August2015
T
here are other points that attract particular attention except one, after finding a path that leads up the hill you can pass a long bridge and being in front of a small wooden building, perhaps seemingly a bit fragile that serves as an additional place for refreshments. Is the highest point of the whole land and remaining quietly lying on a hammock you can look around the border of the island, you can see the trampoline between the leaves of the trees, the small cabin with the bridge from which you get as well as the beach and the pirate ship in the sea. It 'easy to explore Pandora box of dream and perhaps too quickly, but it's said that you have to leave once you have finished exploring it and at this point isn't a bad idea to enjoy it a bit longer. If that little paradise island were true I doubt anyone would have walked out so easily.

ou're probably wondering what is this game-adventure, well, I'll explain us. The event is divided into two regions, one where you can find the new creations of the most talented designers and the second is the region with the mystery, but that's not all! By participating in the game you can get 50 prizes of a hunt, it is merely to find all the gold coins scattered and hidden for the land and, through a HUD, unlock the various stores.

here was once a young fisherman called Taro, he was a strong and a king man and he loved the small and weak creatures, and especially animals. One afternoon, while he was on his small boat, he saw a poor carp trapped in the remains of a network of some other fisherman immediately he rowed towards the poor creature and rescued it. The little fish swam happily and remaining with its head above water thanked the young and gentle Taro. "Without you I would never be free. I want to make a gift to repay your kindness. What would you like?"

umbly, Taro shook his head and said that the only thing he wanted was to live a happy and simple. The Carp moved the long tail and told him to return the next day at sunset, after which the fish vanished and Taro was alone and was still stumped for talking to a fish. The next day, at sunset, Taro went in the same place where he had met the strange fish and waited for a long time until he dozed off. The sky had turned red while the water shone it slowly began to rock the small boat until he heard the sound of laughter. Taro opened his eyes and woke up, he believed to still be asleep when he saw a girl immersed in water, as he could see she had hidden behind the water lilies. "Forgive my impertinence, but what are you doing here? I'm waiting for a magical little fish, did you see it?"

Taro blushed in shame, he didn't believe that the carp would say to people his wish and with clumsy gestures handed her a bow. "That was my desire to have saved the little fish magic, I know it's a childish thought but I don't really need money, I just want to live a peaceful, happy and prosperous life, because I'm already rich: my arms are strong and young and in my heart is not missing kindness." She smile and then swam slowly towards the boat of the young and kind fisherman, and only then Taro realized that her skin was white as milk and shone in the light of the setting sun then he saw in the water a beautiful red and white tip. With considerable surprise was unable to say a word but fortunately the girl said: "You have a noble soul and a big heart, Taro. My name is Mizuki and I'm the princess of this pond and as promised I will grant your wish if you do something for me."

aro could not believe his ears and his eyes, a princess? He nodded humbly.
"You'll need to capture five hundred fireflies over the next five days. If you can lock them in a bottle, you will be granted, Happiness is a great gift, it's very rare and valuable, but a heart patient knows how to wait for it." In the days following Taro focused solely on trying to catch all the fireflies that Princess Mizuki asked him forgetting even to go fishing to earn some money for dinner and the sunset of the fifth day he returned to the pond carrying the water bottle. At the appointed hour arrived Mizuki surrounded by all the court of the lake: there were frogs, carp, herons, colored fishes and they all seemed eager and happy. "I brought the fireflies, princess." he said, "This is the pledge that you asked me." Mizuki took the bottle out of the hands of Taro and without saying a word she took off her cap and left again free small insects, fireflies began to fly around them glowing with the first shadows of evening. Taro was surprised, why did she free them after so much effort?

"Patience is the breath of a pure heart, freedom is the magic of life. And happiness is the child of love." Mizuki smiled and began to sing with sweet voice while the fireflies began to dance around her, hundreds came to rest on her pale skin and they created a magnificent kimono. All creatures of the lake began to sing and rejoice when Mizuki stood up to show Taro that her tail was gone. "Now I am yours and you are mine." Taro's eyes were filled with tears when he took the hand of his beautiful princess and helped her to get on the little boat: that was true happiness. His wish was fulfilled and they lived a long happy life.

he draft Ashraya in Second Life will end at the end of this summer. This does not mean that I stop to raise money and take care of her; just I do not do it again here. And that not because I have many commitments or because I lack the ideas and the desire to continue, just I try to carry out a project that I had consolidated here. The path of fundraising Ashraya in reality had already started a few years ago; now continue. I carry in my reality a bit 'of SL, in every way ... Please I ask you not to get many questions about.Thank you. True friends here, are in real life too, with some contacts and some of them the friendship are real, mediated, apparently, by other technological developments. What do you usually do on summer? Reporter & Photographer: Mattew Northman
W
hat do you usually do on summer? Have fun at the beach, meet some new people, go traveling somewhere special‌ in shorts, you get a move. How about, then, a game of tennis, beach volley, football, soccer or even curling? Yeah, curling in summer sounds crazy, at least in Real Life, but in Second Life‌ well, everything is possible, so why not? Practicing sports in second life is, perhaps, the other big deal here, since this platform was created to give the experience of traveling, flying, meeting other people to someone that cannot do these things. Since many people who cannot do sports because of physical impairing here you can have good opportunities and choices widen in almost every sport.
For example I wasn't kidding about curling, in my personal experience I happened to stumble a couple of times on lands with a curling court next to tennis, basketball, and beach soccer courts. Curling, personally more relaxing than the other quoted sports, but putting a ball in a basket is not bad anyway, and horse riding, racing, scuba diving, hand gliding. You want to practice a sport? Just choose your outfit, grab your gear and let's go. Of course you don't have to change your outfit, as always we're talking about pixelated avatars, you can go underwater with a formal suit on and without diving gear, it won't drown or get his clothes soaked. Even if the avatar falls from high altitude the landing will always be safe.

How about experiencing a game? Well, the point is that Second Life is a general-purpose virtual platform and this means that it serves no purpose at all. Gameplay is always crippled because both of server latency problems, that causes a game to be laggy especially with lots of avatars near. Another thing that favors less gaming in second life is graphical impact. Of course it's not about graphics, but about having fun, but playing in a court with base prims to avoid lag and help Second Life's object physics is not this great, especially considering that you will spend a lot of time. Bottom line the challenge between Second Life's sports and actual sport videogames is still open. Better gameplay VS Better community and sometimes it's hard to make a choice. Personally both choices are equivalent. In the case of SL it's about a better community, a better place to socialize, but when it's about gameplay controls are always awful and lag is unbearable. But in some cases this can be funny. When will you see in real life a ball that bounces everywhere at light speed? Personally I find this kind of things hilarious, so‌ find your shorts, polish your shoes and gather up some friends. It's time for sports.

And here's a personal recipe for a funny game: Second Life Sim Football. It's cheap and funny. First you need a ball, just create it any size you wish, then you create two cubes large enough to sit on it. You enable physics by object editing in these three items and here's how you play: sit on a cube and click and drag it just to hit the ball and make it cross a gate or a line. You decide. As you can see there's no limit in playing some games, you just need some friends to get around, like children do with a courtyard, a ball and some friends. ful and lively. There are many paths so it's easy to get lost and to keep company to the visitor there are sweet little animals, fairies and goblins everywhere. In some ways it's reminded me the world of Alice in Wonderland although they are totally different from each other. When you getting lost in the garden you can easily find a home, it's not the only one, but is the only life-size human, in fact the others present are small and designed specifically for small animals that live in the forest. The house reflects the style of the garden, probably the person who lives there appreciate a lot the cats, by the fact the number of felins gathered on a single chair.

uring this June we visited Vivaldi a nice place to explore. It is a beautiful sim with something for
everyone. Vivaldi is a beautiful scenic sim with different areas to explore. There are places to cuddle with your sweetheart, play a game of Greedy in the lighthouse or snap pictures! From beachfront views to, after a bit of a climb, a snow covered mountain. This sim is really something special and a must visit. Vivaldi was named for a classical composer Antonio Vivaldi who composed the instrumental piece “Four Seasons . Here at Vivaldi you can find all four seasons. Vivaldi has scenic places around the sim that are perfect for taking pictures, hanging out with that special someone, or with a group of friends.
