Happy B-Day SL! Writer and photographer Mafalda2 Diesel
A
nother year has passed and we have finally arrived in June! This is the month of Second Life's birthday celebration, and it's not a matter of no consideration: 14 years of community, fashion and creativity as well as development! This is undoubtedly a very important goal for all of us, but especially for the developers and creators of our virtual world. Second Life is officially teenage! Fourteen years of social, many years where everything seems to have changed, but the fundamental concept has remained. In the years Second Life has offered many opportunities to all of us: knowing people from all over the world, discovering how to be great artists or designing their own brand. SL has given voice to people who have had health problems in real life, has allowed so many people to socialize and be someone else in the many role-plays.

Interviewing Dahlia! Writer and photographer Mafalda2 Diesel
I
n this appointment with "Fashion&Design" section, we interviewed a very cute and gifted blogger! We present you Dahlia Madoka and she herself, answering our questions, will tell us about her as a blogger! • Q: So you are a blogger, right? I mean... you are one of the talented blogger in flickr community but I wanna ask you how did you start? A: I use to heavily be involved in blogging, always keeping track of events and trying to apply for them with crossed fingers. It started from seeing the artwork people posted on flickr. I wanted to be just like them, where my avatar looked smitten surrounded by random cute things to destroy anything bad in the world with just a smile. So I tried hitting the ground running, seeing what was popular what was unique and what was trending.

• Q: After you started your fashion blog, was it easyto be noticed? Or you had someone "teaching" you the basics? A: No one taught me anything but how to take a photo. I don't know what you mean by noticed, because I don't see myself as known. I just think people enjoy what I enjoy in my photos and smile along with me when I share my latest adventure. That's really what I want, is to make another person happy with just a photo. • Q: Please tell me... since you started did you faced some hard times where you weren't sure to keep up with your sponsors? A: And if yes, how did you managed that? I started facing a rough time after my father died last November. He didn't die like other people. I woke up and found out he drowned. It shattered what I had going. I had to fall out of events, remove myself from the blogging community because I couldn't emotionally project my art into an advertisement anymore. I started just taking photos without words without perfection so I could see someone else happier than myself. Taking a break helped. I found myself, found my heart again and dived back into sl only taking photos from the heart instead of photos that advertised what I wasn't feeling in that moment. Its helping me heal, helping my soul let go and just be free.

• Q: How does being a blogger effect you RL? And what advise would you give to who wants to start blogging? A: Well, I work in retail, so I see all sorts of customers. And when I see someone wearing something amazing or look unique, I memorize what they are wearing, how they are wearing it, and how can I apply that in my art. I recommend to never look to flickr for inspiration. You end up copying someone else's hard work and feel jaded whenever someone compares your work to another. Also, look up fashion trends online of real people wearing strange outfits. You start understanding how much unique personality they put into their outfits it helps encourage you to see what you could apply to your own. And last, use your art as a way to step outside yourself and find something fun and exciting to you. It helps build character and shapes your outlook to your blog. • Q: Well! I just finished my question! There is something you wanna add? Something you wanna say to those who are gonna read this interview? A: I guess I would add, don't be afraid to try something different. Because in a way, it will help you believe you can do anything. So, I just have to say, think happy thoughts. *smiles* Take a look at her Flickr!

Interview with:
Moya Janus Writer and photographer Draetia Resident
You are a well-known artist in France and around the EU. I went doing some research on you, my dear, and i have to say: your style is pretty colorful and eccentric (in a good way). How did you developed It? Patrick Moya : I started with a lot of drawings, so I became interested in contemporary art and started to do conceptual work and research on television media to reflect on the evolution of art through the new media. I was very inspired by the theories of communication and especially by the ideas of Marshall McLuhan. My goal was to become the creature and escape the ungrateful role of the creator. There is some deeper meaning? A thought that your art wants ti summoner in the viewer?
98
99
Patrick Moya : In the 80's I thought that the new media would lead to the end of copyright and that the artist had to be at the center of the work with his name and his image in order to remain the master of his work. It is also a way to show how the human being can continue to remain the center of technology. You are, if i'm not wrong, in SL since 2007 soooo.. 10 years! What pushed you to import your art in this platform? Is/was It difficult? Patrick Moya : In the 80's I wanted to be a digital artist but I didn't want to become a technician. My dream was to achieve immateriality and finally painting with its ease of use made me more immaterial and allowed me to reach the viewer faster. When I discovered Second Life I understood from the first day of my entry into the virtual world that what I was looking for was that. I was at last an immaterial artist and this world allowed me to live in the work of becoming the creature. From the first night I didn't sleep and built my first Moya land.

he place is full of statues that represent an emotion like love, loneliness, despair. Each of them is positioned so as to appreciate the context and, in some cases, to form a moving story as if you were visiting a modern art gallery where you can grasp invisible details.
101
102
What's more hard? Create IRL or here? Patrick Moya : I do not actually create in Second Life. What interests me is precisely living in the work as a character who represents the artist rather than as a creator. Do you ever get what is called the "creative block"? How do you face It/defeat It? Patrick Moya : No because I talk about myself in my work and it encourages me to work all the time (laugh) Do you have any advice for those who'd want to be artists and express themselves? Patrick Moya : Never wait to be ready, to exhibit or show your work. Anything you want to say? Maybe i left out something that you would love ti share with us and our readers Patrick Moya : The ideal is to visit my virtual islands. If I am there I can take you by car for a guided tour.
