VIRTUAL SECOND NIGHT Hello dear readers, The more and more continuous use of these new technologies has led many people to be part of a new and increasingly illusory simple virtual reality, just a click to get anywhere you want ... Even many scholars are launching the alarm that we are forgetting how to think and reading becomes more and more a fatigue. There is also a strong fear that the result of all this will lead to a self-effacement of the people, the strong risk of being standardized: it is much easier to follow the herd rather than using its own intelligence ... but that's what we want: no lose a sense of proportion, not to rimbambire by the charm of the new technologies and new media means not building a fake world behind a screen, because life is outside of the computer and the phone, continue to carry forward the struggle and the value of culture. In this issue, as always, you will find interesting articles, on virtual worlds in 3D in addition you can project yourself in unove sim always well made to pass an unforgettable moment with your friends .. Happy Easter and a happy Spring

Sniper: As Luna said there were many who contribute from many parts of the world, this is encouraging. Q: Do you think people need more information and more activities to highlight the needs of these people who work to help sick amyotrophic lateral sclerosis? Luna: I think when we talk about social should never stop making news, we try to raise awareness among SL's users. Sniper: More information we give on anything inherent in these events is the better the success of the same. No coincidence that the 'event is called ALS Awareness - ALS Awareness Q: This fundraising will be a commitment that you will support over time? Luna: Of course! The harvey 2017 is already work in progress! Sniper: We have already turned everything to the edition of 2017. In September we start again to contact other sims and artists for the edition of February 2017. Inquire is a right and a duty, especially when it comes to diseases that change the individual's life and to allow him a life pair, it's necessary that all of us contribute to these initiatives to make the world free!

n this occasion we will not show gothic, fantasy or enchanted gardens lanl, but we will bring you to a place where there is an anti utopia. Pyramiden is a place where those who pass can see what remains of an abandoned periphery, of a ghastly scenario that can fascinate or abducting in a disturbing post-apocalyptic setting.

M
ischief Managed is a fully immersive Harry Potter roleplay featured on Second Life. With a meticulously crafted school, modeled after the real life Hogwarts that you know from the books, films and games, they offer you a chance to roleplay and immerse yourself in what Harry would have experienced during his time at Hogwarts. You can choose your story. Want to be a professor and teach magic? Go ahead. Want to be that cunning Slytherin you dreamed of but had no place to go? You’re welcome here. Their aim is to share the magic of Harry Potter with you and let you be the writer of your own magical story. Mischief Managed is a non-profit sim run by an entire team of dedicated volunteer staff. They all have one dream, to keep the magic alive. They are here to offer you the best Harry Potter roleplaying experience and be a part of something magical. From the Admins to the ALOs, they are here to serve you. The sim opened its doors in August 2012. You may have known the previously sim as “Hogwarts: Your Story” but they are completely revamped and rebuilt from the ground up with the latest technology SL has to offer.
40 | VSN - Issue 47 - March 2016
T
heir main castle, built entirely of mesh by the very talented Anya Ohmai, is a work of art that’s completely realistic and true to the story of Harry Potter. The sim is maintained and added upon by a talented bunch of creators, who spend their time and energy bringing you the very best. I think we all loved Harry Potter and most of us probably shed a tear when the series ended. However, just because Harry finished his story, who’s to say you can’t have yours? Hogwarts is technically a boarding school and there is a uniform/dresscode. Below they have listed what constitutes appropriate wear for classes and other events requiring uniforms for students, and what is appropriate for casual wear outside of these events. Most infractions of the dresscode are dealt with In Character, that is, wearing sneakers/trainers to class or showing up with pink hair may result in punishment for your character by a professor, school staff member, or Prefect (if caught!). This is how improper dress was dealt with in the Harry Potter stories and in real-world boarding schools. Apparel suggestions for IC Staff (professors, school staff, etc.) are listed in thir rules as well, though there are no IC requirements.
42 | VSN - Issue 47 - March 2016
C
asual wear is comfortable, casual clothing. It can be worn around the castle any day after 2pm SLT, or at all times in the Common Rooms or on weekends (unless in class). Dressing appropriate for the student’s age is the only limitation; clothing must be appropriate and PG. There are few IC consequences for casual wear infractions; their limitations are very free, so breaking them is usually a more serious offense. I avoid to you to explain you all the functioning of the HUD that they created because I think I'll never finish so I recommend candidly to go to visit the land personally and unfortunately you can only do it on Monday. I don't know if one day is enough to visit it all, the land is immense and it's really easy to get lost in the corridors and rooms and even sure if I visited all the sim. The exterior is very faithful, but what surprised me most were the rooms, the classrooms and the secrets inside the castle, that why one day isn't enough! So don't wait to long and look for the magic to Mischief Managed, it's time to create your story.

lutter Memel is the mastermind behind Flowey and Stories & Co by Flowey. Flowey has released amazing pose props like a deep claw bathtub that is perfect for luxuriating in hot, soapy water and a dangerously adorable pose table with a grass top. Under her clothing label Stories & Co by Flowey, she releases modern and minimalist clothing, sexy slips and body suits, fluttery silk shorts and heavy knit sweaters. VSN Magazine is thrilled to interview Flutter Memel and learn more about the genius behind the gentle, feminine fashions at Stories & Co. VSN Magazine: How did you come to join Second Life速? What was your introduction like? Flutter Memel: I read about SL速 in an article, I can't remember where anymore. I actually first tried to join in the summer of 2007 but I was under 18. I forgot about it for a while and then tried again in the fall. I had just turned 18 and decided to lurk around. My first impression wasn't great, but most people must remember how Infohubs were back in the day. I enjoyed it enough to stick with it and explore more. My first year felt like the longest time ever, I think also because my RL changed a lot in that time. I tried blogging, first with fashion then more in depth reviews on a blog called Skin Addiction (long before the group and fair formed, run by someone else). A couple months after my 1st 58 | VSN - Issue 47 - March 2016
60 | VSN - Issue 47 - March 2016
rezday, I had started to lose interest and if a friend hadn't introduced me to making poses I'm pretty sure I wouldn't still be in SL 8 years later. VSN: When did you know you wanted to be a creator? You have evolved from making pose props to clothing, what led to that shift? How do they compare? What is is similar, different? Which is more pleasureable? FM: I opened my store as soon as I completed my first two sets of poses - which probably shows I didn't treat it very seriously at first. It became a hobby but I didn't think it would evolve into something bigger. During my uni years I dabbed in probably all of the categories of SL creation, but most of them didn't see the daylight. It wasn't until I graduated that I decided to try to make SL into a full time job. It was 2011 and at first I started to release regularly once a week or once every two weeks at my store. I started to join events again but I knew that I need to expand and venture into meshing and when I got invited back to The Arcade in 2012. I decided it's now or never. Since then I’ve joined more events, and have collaborated with more people. The style and category of my creations was changing a lot but nothing seemed 'right'. After trying with clothes making for on and off a year I released my first dress in April 2015 and it immediately felt better. With a few bumps here and there I finally found a
workflow that suited me. The whole process of creating became less stressful and much more enjoyable. It felt just right. VSN: Is your aesthetic in SL similar to your RL taste? FM: Yes and no. The pieces that I make in SL are definitely part of my aesthetic, however in RL my every day taste and style is a bit different. In RL, I go for tomboy-ish style and minimalistic pieces, It's what I'm most comfortable in. In SL however I definitely enjoy more feminine pieces and explore this side of my aesthetics. For example, the oversize silhouette and minimalistic detail of my Abbi Pullover combined with silky and delicate Charlotte Shorts is a perfect example of how both my SL and RL style can mix in the process. There is however one thing that is strongly connecting both worlds - my love for holographic fabrics and textures. VSN: How did you choose your avatar name? And your store name? Are they related? FM: My original store name - Flowey - used to be a nickname of mine. The nickname didn't stick but it turned out to be great brand name. It's been altered a few times as the years passed while trying new things. When I decided to focus on my clothing line however, I felt that I wanted to start fresh. This time the name was carefully thought through and it was some62 | VSN - Issue 47 - March 2016

thing I actually picked long before my first item was out. I didn't have the heart to cut off from Flowey completely so when I chose Stories & Co. I decided to include 'by Flowey' at the end. It's also easier for customers to identify me this way - those that are following me since day one and those that maybe are rediscovering my store now. I'm also much more dedicated to working on branding in general now, from the logo to the style of my ads and pieces I'm still working on - a new store and packaging. VSN: Has SL changed your first life? In what ways? FM: I often think about it and at first I didn't want to admit it but SL changed my life a lot. I joined when I was very young and the experiences I gained here, even though not always the best ones, definitely helped shape the person I am now. Most people I consider my true and very real (I hate 'internet friends') friends I met in SL. The closest and most cherished people in my life I've met here during random journeys or through my work and the events I've joined. It's also my full time job and a way a I can support myself ... and my makeup addiction. VSN: What are some of your favorite activities in SL? If you were not in SL, what would you be doing instead? FM: Most of my time in SL now consists of working but in the rare times I can spend it different way I mostly enjoy exploring urban themed
sims. I also really enjoy the MadPea games, can't wait for their newest one! I graduated with a BA in comparative literature and when I initially started my degree I hoped to stay in that field. At the end however, I felt like it was really not the place or the environment I wanted to be in, no matter how strong my love for literature is. By this time SL content creating felt like a natural choice and I honestly have no idea what I'd be doing now if I wasn't in SL anymore. I don't think about it too often because SL gave an opportunity to explore other parts of my interests and inspired me to give my previously abandoned passion for art another go. VSN: When did you feel most alive or involved or excited about being part of Second Life? FM: Even though my work now gives me more joy than it ever has, I think being a member of Holiday Appreciation Association is the winner here. It also happens to be a group of my closest friends and together we organize holiday themed events/interactive experiences like Mingle or the most popular one - Havenhollow. I love Halloween. It's my favorite time of the year and the time we start working on it is when I'm most excited to log in.
66 | VSN - Issue 47 - March 2016
s VSN: What one thing from SL would you like to have in your first life? FM: I would definitely love to own some art pieces that my friends have gifted me with over the years. Free and instant delivery of my online shopping would be great too. Marketplace style.
