Autumn So I just have to ask...
what is your autumn poetry? Writer and photographer Mafalda Diesel " That time of year thou mayst in me behold When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang Upon those boughs which shake against the cold, Bare ruined choirs, where late the sweet birds sang. In me thou see’st the twilight of such day As after sunset fadeth in the west; Which by and by black night doth take away, Death’s second self, that seals up all in rest. In me thou see’st the glowing of such fire, That on the ashes of his youth doth lie, As the deathbed whereon it must expire, Consumed with that which it was nourished by. This thou perceiv’st, which makes thy love more strong, To love that well which thou must leave ere long." [Sonnet 73 - William Shakespeare]

Who doesn't like the heat of a hot chocolate and warm colors of the autumn leaves? Yes, it's time to abandon swimsuits, flip flops, sand and drinks on vacation to go back to wearing soft and warm sweaters, to eat roast chestnuts and especially waiting for Halloween! Who loves beaches and summer flirting it'll be a disaster, but autumn is the perfect time for a bit of pampering and romance: long walks in the parks, warm hugs and a blanket on a sofa are what make perfect this time of year. The autumn colors are like fire but also bring with it melancholy, however, need to be able to marvel at the beauty of nature, the explosion of colors of which everything is tinged before saying "welcome" to winter. There is also to say the positives of this time of year: the most awaited festival. Christmas? Not at all. For those who love creepy things there is only one major feast day: Halloween. Costumes, parties, music, tricks and treats. All go crazy when they see the calendar in October. So I just have to ask... what is your autumn poetry?

A he
n interview with the writer of Bibian's Train we did 4 questions to explain how started this adventure.
Tell our readers how did you start your experience in Second Life? I started with Second Life in 200703-18 due to an article in a newspaper. At the first time I spent my time in dancing, listening music and exploring this wonderful new world, meeting people, entertaining myself, dancing in ballroom but I also gathered first experiences in basic building and arranging stuff in Second Life.

I figured out there were advantages in land owning in SL, so I rented my first plot in 2008. A small parcel on a wonderful designed sim compound, Victorian themed. My first house, in old Victorian style was comfy, not spacious, but romantic. I held weekly meetings at the capital of the land, a romantic castle, and the landlord invited for dancing and chatting. I met many friend, there was very much fun over this time, exciting role play and entertainment. So it comes, my house and my land became too small for all that, so the pity all over SL, too few prims for all stuff needed. After I contacted my landlord he offered me another plot and a manor house, not furnished but amazing with romantic fields, woods and a breathtaking view, and these were
just a few features of the new home. And, at last, with this land came for me the title Duchess...wooot! Again a great time in SL, a time of SL´s best. And it happens again: too less prims, no room for arranging and creating. So I bought my first homestead and spent much time now for establishing a romantic castle sim. Enough room for guests, dancing, parties and so on. One day it happened, I was out, searching for flower, tulips to be exact, and this search brought me to TULIPTREE, which is one of the end stations of the Second Life Railroad, with many railroad freebies there, which I took instead of tulips, curious to see what was inside the packages. and now we come to question 2... how did you start to build trains? Usually women prefer to work in fashion? I came back to my land, it was sometime in 2010, opened all the boxes and, in the end, I was surrounded by rail signals and trains. Yes, that was the beginning of "Work on trains". My SL friend said: " oh yes, we should try that, it can bring life and appeal to the sim" Since it is my 2nd Second Life and believe me I had to learn much. I 34 | VSN - Issue 42 - October 2015
was not in trains before, neither in RL nor in SL. But I had many helping hands, how to do this and that, how to setup rails, signals , sensors and trains How they work in Second Life. But nevertheless, I like fashion, clothes, shoes, ballroom dancing, clubs and discos. and to be together in romantic hours with my SL partner. what are the steps to get the project to the final product? I never was happy about how trains were moving in Second Life. They were shaky and one could get seasick soon while riding them. Also, they never had carriages following in an acceptable way. I found a nice and patient scripter, Dennis Albion (Albion Scriptworks), I was talking to him and told him my wishes and suggestions. We started with a features list, based on the functions of real life trains. It took us about one year to have a great script with all features necessary, about 1900 lines of code. Also I needed locos and cars, which I learned to build, arrange and make them driveable. We went through endless hours of tests around the atoll of Heterocera, where the longest Second Life rail track is located.
36 | VSN - Issue 42 - October 2015
One can travel along for hours, watching the landscape and new buildings, meeting people and exploring. Also I was working on new rails, the old ones were short straights, curves, switches, mesh stuff via Blender, sculpted parts. Yes I had to learn many things, but it was and still is interesting. Finally we decided to offer all of that on SL marketplace and, I wasn't expecting what was yet to come. Customers liked it and enjoyed the great feeling now traveling with their trains on private sims or on Mainland (Heterocera Atoll). What are your plans for the next future? My plans for the future are completing railway stuff's projects like a subway (in beta phase) and some modern styled trains. And, of course, last but not least, much fun in Second Life as fashion, music and entertainment with my partner.

e all know that it's important to feel ourself satisfied and it's equally important to feel our appeal up to the stars. In this edition of VSN we will present the work and passion of Klari55a, owner of the store KC Couture. Q: What was the idea or inspiration to jump into the fashion world of Second Life? A: Well, I work in Photoshop since 1995 and I've always loved shoes so I found myself without a RL job and then -two years ago- I decided to try to combine my two passions, I learned to use blender and... all came from itself.
48 | VSN - Issue 42 - October 2015
Q: Did you have difficulties in setting up your project? Did you have people who helped you? A: No, it's a project that I started by myself, I combined my passions: shoes and 3d graphics. Then I met other creators who gave me straight, friends and -of courseenemies. Difficulty... I can say I started making shoes just when slink has lost dominance so I had to learn to adapt quickly to do mesh for Maitreya and others mesh bodies. Q: It seems this activity is well underway. Are you satisfied then your efforts and your dedication? A: I'm busy for many hours for day but I would not change satisfaction with anything else. Although working 20 hours on a shoe but then people thank me, I'm very happy! Q: You managed to combine hobby and work but still remains close and appreciate the satisfaction of your customers. In this regard, do you have any future project? Some new ambition to offer always something new? A: I'd like to add accessories to my catalog, for now I have glasses and piercings. In practice ?'d like to see people think "KC is the place to go to finish my outfits", then shoes, bracelets, glasses, piercing, jewelry. everything 'that revolves around a dress.
50 | VSN - Issue 42 - October 2015
Q: Your wish is to give that final touch to make a single outfit or, why not, an avatar? A: Yes! It is! Then I will try to experiment even for mesh clothes but for now I prefer be "a boutique" specializing beautiful things instead of appear like a super store that sells everything without a sense.

Havenhollow
The return of trick-or-treating experience writer and photographer : Zily Resident
A
s always these months of autumn are full of surprises and news, but also the holiday that carries to the world of ghosts, witches and mosters is the long awaited Halloween. During these days are appared everywhere abandoned places, haunted houses, horror paths and who knows how much more, but something caught my attention and it's Havenhollow III.
88 | VSN - Issue 42 - October 2015
I
t opened earlier this month by the private group Holiday Appreciation Association and it'isnt the first time this Sim is open it, even last year it was open and the site has been some changes to make it a more unique experience for the new and old visitors. Participating in this small and interesting experience you can get prizes and gifts, there is no cost to attend the event and will be totally free for the entire duration. Apparently the structure is simple and once you reach the land all you have to do is go trick-or-treating from door to door around the creepy neighborhood, obviously upon arrival comes a supply buckets for any range of avatars. The time exploring the place was fun Because of the trick-or-treating and the vast exploration of Havenhollow III, indeed they don't always open the door to deliver the candy, the best thing to do is knock more than once or make sure you knock really loud. It's trick or treat, after all, so you better be prepared to be the subject of some pranks. Going door to door you will notice the entrance to a forest and there is where the real exploration begins, it will no longer serve collects and treats and if you will dare to cross it will be better to accept the flashlight that a girl will gently delivered, again for each range of avatars. 90 | VSN - Issue 42 - October 2015
I
will not spoil the whole exploration and telling what you will find on the other side I can only recommend you to discover every secret even if the lag is quite annoying and unfortunately almost impossible to avoid, but this part also depend on the good sense of the visitors so before get advice always read the rules and follow it to better enjoy the experience. But I can say that the adventure doesn't begin in the best way, indeed first to understand what dark world you are finished you must find the way out of an old and dark mine, it will be a small maze, but not too difficult and the flashlight taken before it will be very useful to see through the darkness. But what else can you expect once you get out? Nothing cheerful and sunny of course, maybe a graveyard or a forest shrouded in mist that conceals other mysterious places? This is already the most probable, but I leave you to find your way to these places of terror and the best thing is to get lost in the forest to find the right path. If I have to say my favorite part of being in the event so far I have to choose trick-or-treating and visiting the haunted place, every time I came back there or get lost again i discovered something new. I advice you to come back several times perhaps with friends to have fun together and see how many times you will get lost in the mine, or who will have the courage to go first in what appears to be an abandoned house. I've entered and I came out and you? 92 | VSN - Issue 42 - October 2015

Fable's Dream
The scream in the attic Writer and photographer : Mafalda Diesel
T
he mysteries often must remain so forever. This was the rule of the house of Charlington. Many years ago the Charlington family was rich and happy, but, after a grim incident, the house was forgotten and left to itself. A heinous crime was consumed inside the walls and no one was able to live in that house anymore. Noises, disturbing voices forced the subsequent owners to run away. Gradually the manor was forgotten and nobody remembered of what happened and it became haunted, decadent... A group of guys, decades later, found the famous manor of horrors and foolishly decided to challenge each other in a test of courage: the one who could go in and stay all night long would be judged the coolest guy in the citadel.
T
hey chose the night to make this act of courage and reached the house as soon as the sun had set. They had only a flashlight and, after tearing off a pair of wooden boards from the door, they entered inside. The manor was bare, dusty but strangely crystalized in those last moments of domestic life. The boys even found some dishes on the table in the living room, some instead saw a coat hanging by the door and as they explored the house other disturbing details were discovered. The youngest one slowly began to climb the stairs to reach the top floor, but it too was deserted. The beds were rotten and the furniture had been ravaged by moths, time and damp. Everything around him seemed to emanate an aura of danger, but he had to win that bet, after all, so he braced himself and went on. The flashlight was his only company, but something startled him from behind: a shadow grazed his back making him shiver through his spine. He was not alone. The boy turned to see if one of his friend had made a bad joke, but in that room there was only him and fear. "What am I thinking? It's nothing", he said as he went on.
98 | VSN - Issue 42 - October 2015
H
e walked over to a cabinet and opened it carefully, but what he found there, besides dust and small insects, were elegant clothes... female clothes. To whom did they belong? He didn't know much about Charlingtons since the tragedy and no one seemed to want to tell what happened in there. Suddenly he heard a scream and a noise came from the upper floor: the attic. Needless to say he was scared, but he went up anyway. Where were his friends? Why did none hear anything? Did they escape...? "Guys? It's not funny. Come out, otherwise I'll get there!" Step after step he reached the attic, the door was afar but from that crack he could hear a sharp and nauseating smell. He put his hand on the door and slowly pushed it. With a trembling hand he raised his flashlight and saw a pile of junk: old family photos, dusty boxes and a bunch of red cards, maybe they were tarot. He slowly went into the attic, leaving footprints in the thick layer of dust and looked around: a shadow! He had seen a shadow move fast in the corner!

S
tupidly he headed in that direction without notice that the floor was no longer covered with powder but by something more slippery. He had his heart beating fast in his chest and the only thing he could hear was himself breathing and soon arrived at the place where he saw that shadow, but a second later he caught in his throat a shriek of terror. The body of a woman was waiting for him, his face a mask of pure horror, the black mouth dripping with blood and flesh as his body decomposed and skeletal semi awaited his last victim. She had her legs and arms bound to the loops, as well as his throat but seemed to be angry, voracious and bloody. The boy had no time to escape that he was seized by the bony fingers, his evil grin was opening like a black hole and with excruciating pain she felt his flesh torn from the bone. The calm returned to Charlingtons' Manor. The only thing that remained was a flashlight abandoned in the attic...
