VIRTUAL SECOND NIGHT Hello dear readers, Before being used in on mobile, with applications for smartphones and tablets or viewers to wear, augmented reality (AR) was introduced in specific areas like research, medicine or military. Just think, for example, the head-up display (HUD) fitted on fighter planes, which show the driver information such as the distance from the lens or the inclination of the aircraft, allowing him to keep his eyes fixed on what was in front . In recent times one of the first mobile app to take advantage of this approach was Layar. This is software that, using the geolocation information provided by the GPS module the device, and matching them with the screen orientation identified by accelerometer or gyroscope, allowing the user to frame their surroundings through the camera, displaying their icons to points of interest in the vicinity, in exactly the direction in which they are located. This can be useful when looking for a restaurant, to understand that the road to travel to it, or in order to know in real time the position of other persons in the nearby. The AR device which is most talked about in recent years is undoubtedly Google Glass. Designed by X Lab team of the search engine, it is essentially a pair of glasses to wear, which displays information and data within the visual field, by the use of a small display is positioned above the user's eye. Concept first, then the device is accessible only for developers enrolled in the Explorer program, the product has to date struggled in making the final steps towards the large-scale commercialization. Special: Google Glass Google Glass All about Google Glass, the peculiar futuristic glasses of Mountain View that give you additional information about the world around us. Google, working for years with the aim to perfect design and functionality, has repeatedly called for a change in strategy at the summit of the project, in an effort to accelerate the development and finally reach a market launch. As for the features, the deep integration with Android devices is certainly the main strength of the glasses, because communicating with smartphones and tablets are able to show the user notifications, messages, directions, updates from social networks and much more, without forcing him to touch the touchscreen. Enjoy reading the magazine and happy holidays!!!

elcome back dear readers, in this issue of VSN we talk about a sensitive but important topic. Before starting I'd like to show you my office and, of course, I'm very pleased to be able to have a chat with you! But let's talk about important things, surely many people will feel involved in this strange topic and I will not deny that I was (for many times) a victim too. There is an annoying and disturbing phenomenon on Second Life: stalking and harassment. Well, we will discuss what is involved in the discomfort of those who suffer harassment in our virtual world. I'll try to be as discreet as possible. Who has not ever been contacted privately by a stranger who makes compliments to our avatar? It seems to be normal, right? Nothing alarming, at least until you read a sentence too ambiguous if not downright vulgar. Not everyone flatters a certain type of advances, not all the people like vulgar and sexist appreciations, it's not always pleasant to feel the oppression of one person who is breathing down the neck. Sometimes you can really questioning the pleasure to connect to SL, unfortunately the "virtual molesters" are difficult to remove. We certainly have the ability to ban anyone bother us and the tools to report those who have a negative behavior, but not always enough these restriction measures. In my personal experience, I have always found very vulgar people who have not the slightest idea that behind an avatar there is a person, and that it is not only pixels. It is often forgotten that in spite of the screen there are human beings and that in turn can feel pleasure or discomfort in the face of certain behaviors. This dissociation is caused by the fact that too often we feel "all-powerful" when we are in front of a PC

because we put aside our insecurities and our fears to wear a mask or show the worst in us because no one can see us in the "real world." I think it's completely wrong concept. Second Life is a place to share, learn and grow themselves by connecting people around the world. This is the wrong use of the virtual world. I recently tried on my skin what it means to receive IMs from people who simply had an interest in harassing or making unwelcome appreciation. I do not think a nice avi or a nickname would give the right to someone to follow you into a manic way or insult you if you do not appreciate what he says. This is a kind of dangerous action because it is completely dissociates the virtual and the actual appearance. To those of you happen to have someone who does nothing if not control you? Very disturbing, and above all you may not like to spend most of your time on Second Life because of people who have interpreted SL for an erotic game 3d or a program in which what they want is a grim and morbid hunt. However, there are two types of offenders and I'll give you some tips to get rid of them or to keep them as far as possible: The first is the "noob avatar" who do not care to play in Second Life but wants only "webcam live" (whoever has ears to hear, let them hear), what can you do? You usually just ignore their IM and you will see that they have no interest in continuing to annoy one person if you do not have what they want. For this reason, just be patient and continue what you were doing. The second "character" is the one who initially reads your profile, studying your avatar (because he is unfortunately in your own region) and then writes three or four sentences to flirt. These phrases can be classified into more categories, but the concept is that: they cannot stand being ignored. This will worsen the situation because they start to raise the bar of their words to a point where the provocation (to start a fight) is definitely desired. In that moment 26

you should use the reporting tool to be able to make a screenshot of the conversation and after sending the whole thing to the Second Life's Support proceed to block him. Remember that no one can take you away from the pleasure of playing Second Life, no one can afford to anguish you or make you feel constantly on trial or under pressure with the excuse of "are just pixels". What is not acceptable is harassment: virtual or real that remains harassment! We have the way to protect ourselves without turn our online experience into a nightmare.

unny how time passes so quickly and the summer has now packed up and and how the autumn is coming with its traditions, new trends and colors. Colors, is that what you think when you talk autumn. Despite the days become increasingly cold its colors are hot as orange, yellow or red, a curious contrast, such as the fact that each of them has a specific meaning. Like orange, for example, it is a symbol of inner harmony and creativity as well as confidence. From a psychological point of view of those who prefer the orange manifests an obvious vitality and energy also it's a person basically optimistic.

r yellow is the symbol of the light of the sun but also mental and physical energy and knowledge. The one who prefers the color yellow is outgoing and not afraid of change and novelty, but rather it's positively attracted, also it is usually equipped with a fervent imagination. And after two colors with great vitality couldn't miss the red that symbolizes extroversion and willpower. Affecting the heart rate and blood pressure stimulates our body by accelerating the vital rhythms. Red is synonymous of strong passion, strong personality and self-confidence. Those who prefer the red has the desire to win and yearning for power. It 'a person with great energy who always likes to act and to compete with others and especially with himself.

wish I could say that's it, but it is not because what is behind one color is much more than I could write, not only for its meaning but also for its use such as in the chromotherapy or the flowers. What it is to know that even the colors give a little clue of our personality as well and they remind us the passing of time.
