George, Sizemore join MVNU Development We are very excited to introduce you to two new members of our Development team — Darrel George, Assistant Vice President for Development; and Cindy Sizemore, Director of Development.
Both Darrel and Cindy are graduates of Mount Vernon Nazarene College and share a deep connection with God, campus, alumni, and even current students. Their new mission is to lead our fundraising and planned
Darrel George So much of my life has included the campuses of Mount Vernon Nazarene College and University. As a teenager, coming to youth camps on the main campus. As a traditional resident student in the 80’s for undergrad and a GPS student in the 2000’s for a graduate degree. As an adjunct instructor for 13 years in the GPS program. As a father, having children attend and graduate from MVNU: a 2021 graduate, a current sophomore, and a current College Credit Plus student.

giving efforts by building partnerships with supporters like you while keeping an eye on the needs of our students to enhance their intellectual, spiritual and personal growth during their years at MVNU. Help us welcome Darrel and Cindy to our team and feel free to reach out to them with any of your giving questions or concerns.
Assistant Vice President of Development
My wife Ginger and I have entrusted the faculty and staff to partner with us in helping to lead and guide our children in their pursuit of God’s calling upon their lives and in their development of the gifts and passions He has entrusted to them. After 20-plus years of numerous leadership roles in the automotive engineering and production industry, I felt a calling to engage in work where the mission was missional. The result of seeking God’s guidance and trusting His call to vocational change has led me to the role of Assistant Vice President for Development for MVNU.
of MVNU through the work of the university development, advancement, and relations teams.
“I felt a calling to engage in work where the mission was missional.” I am looking forward to working directly and indirectly with many of you regarding our opportunities to help sustain the life and longevity of our university.
I am honored and excited to be engaged in helping fulfill the mission

MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE UNIVERSITY
Sustaining does not mean maintaining a status-quo. It means fueling advancement opportunities to inspire and equip current and future generations to leverage their gifts and passions, within a biblical framework, to engage broadly and deeply within society, culture, and industry, for the advancement of The Gospel. Literally
to help God’s “kingdom come, on earth as it is in Heaven.” I am honored to be able to partner with staff, faculty, and the broader community of local residents, private and public sector leaders, and of course, our incredible alumni, in the forward-thinking, Christ-honoring
Cindy Sizemore A native of Kentucky, I grew up in Northern Kentucky attending Central Church of the Nazarene on the Eastern Kentucky District. I transferred to Mount Vernon Nazarene College as a sophomore in 1973 and earned an Associate of Arts degree. I went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education, a Master of Science in management, and a Doctor of Education with a specialization in educational leadership and management. I have served in leadership positions for many years as a business owner, real estate sales, educator, and academic advisor. I began working in higher education as an adjunct professor for a variety of business and fine arts courses in 2008, and ultimately served as a Regional Dean for Indiana Wesleyan University in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. My time at MVNC allowed me to share my passion for music as I traveled and sang with Collegians
and a group named “New Creation.” That same joy continued as I served as a vocalist and, for over 16 years, as the choir director in my church. My husband, Greg, and I participated in the Parent Ambassador program through the University of Cincinnati, assisting international students coming to the Greater Cincinnati area to study at the university.
“My heart is in community service and giving back.” My heart is in community service and giving back. I have served on the Education Committee with the Jeffersontown Chamber (Kentucky) as a member of the Louisville (Kentucky) chapter for Executive Women, Christian Business and Professional Women, previous member of the Advisory Committee for the Business School at Indiana Wesleyan University, Alumni Parent Committee as well as the Parent Advancement Board for Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy.
initiatives that will help MVNU be a difference maker in personal lives and global society. Thank you for this opportunity to build, with you, upon the foundation of those that came before us so we can elevate, inspire, and equip those that come after us.
Director of Development
Philanthropy is another way I am able to give back, including multiple opportunities to raise funds for scholarships; Heart and “Sole” which provides shoes to children in Northern Kentucky; Refuge for Women; and others. Greg and I have been married for 38 years. We live in Cincinnati, Ohio, where Greg is an attorney and business owner. Our son, Nathaniel, is an author and entrepreneur. He and his wife, Erin, are attorneys and live in Ft. Thomas, Ky, with their two daughters, Elizabeth and Charlotte Grace, whom we lovingly refer to as our “Grand Sugars.” As an alumna, MVNU holds a very special place my heart. It is important for me to see MVNU continue to be a place that transforms lives and shines forth into the lives of others.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT & HOMELAND SECURITY
WORSHIP ARTS
The Emergency Management & Homeland Security programs prepare both traditional and adult students for 21st Century emergency management while earning a degree, industry certifications and experience — all through a Christian lens. All students will be prepared to make decisions, problem solve, plan, implement, and coordinate resources necessary for preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery from possible disasters.
Merging core curriculum from Christian Ministry, Music, Graphic Design, and Communication/Media, the Worship Arts major prepares students for the calling of pastoral leadership. By weaving the development of musical, visual, and communicative skills with biblical, theological, and historical formation of Christian worship, the program provides a well-rounded approach to the skills and knowledge necessary to serve as a Worship Arts Director.
C AP I TAL PROJ ECT SOCCER AND LACROSSE STADIUM Construction of Phase 2 of the soccer and lacrosse stadium is underway and will include seating for 500, locker rooms, restrooms, concessions, press box, patio seating and other amenities. Combined with the turf field, lights and scoreboard of Phase 1, completed in 2019, the finished stadium is expected to enhance the game-day experience for athletes, fans, and broadcasters starting in Fall 2022.
The $1.75-million Phase 2 is funded through the generosity of donors who have been steadfast in their support of the project since it was announced during MVNU’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2018, along with Ariel Foundation’s matching gift for every dollar raised up to $1.4 million of the overall $3.9 million complex. For more information on the project, along with naming opportunities, visit mvnu.edu/future.
