IGNITE

We believe every person is uniquely created to contribute to the growth of God’s kingdom with their unique skills, talents, and personalities. The IGNITE Program (Independence and Growth Nurtured through Integrated Training and Education) was developed to help students with intellectual disabilities discover their callings through an individualized, integrated college experience.

In the two-year program, IGNITE students will gain skills in the areas of independence, selfdetermination, and employment in a supportive Christian environment. Inclusive academic courses, individualized career development planning, internships, and a full student life experience awaits!

INTERCULTURAL LIFE

Our campus community benefits from the diversity of students, staff, and faculty. We are a community of individuals who seek to learn from, and about, one another. Diversity is expressed through racial, ethnic, age, ability, geographic, gender, cultural, and socioeconomic differences among our community.

The Office of Intercultural Life serves AIM students (American students of color, International students, and Missionary kids) through a variety of programs and events, including:

+ Black Student Union

+ Diversity Leadership Scholarships

+ Diversity Leadership Scholars and Mentoring Program

HONORS PROGRAM

Interested in investigating compelling topics and texts, asking tough questions, or having great conversions? The MVNU Honors Program is an intentionally designed set of courses that replace some of our General Education requirement with discussionbased courses taught by full faculty. This approach focuses on critical and integrative thinking as well as practical skills that prepare students for post-graduate studies and professional careers.

Qualifying students have the opportunity to participate in one or both of our twoyear programs. LEARN MORE MVNU.EDU/HONORS

SYMPOSIUM FOR UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AND CREATIVE WORK (SURC)

MVNU students have opportunity to do research or creative work on topics related to their field of study — or passions. Each spring, students introduce their research and creative work to the campus community in a conference-style event. Presenting work in a scholarly setting is an excellent practice to sharpen your leadership and presentation skills. This experience will also allow students to be leaders in their department and share work with other students who are still rising in the program.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTER

The Career Development Center provides students guidance and resources to help them identify suitable majors, plan their careers, and obtain jobs and internships. The services and resources include individual advising, career assessments, career exploration resources, graduate school information, job postings, guidance on resumes, interviewing, networking, and more.

Students are welcome to explore the following services or schedule an appointment for individual career advising.

+ Meet with a Career Advisor

+ Explore Majors and Careers

+ Internships

+ Resume and Cover Letter Writing

+ Job Search Resources

+ Interview Preparation

SUMMER PROGRAM FOR UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH (SPUR)

Want to spend the summer conducting research? The Summer Program for Undergraduate Research requires students to complete eight weeks of facultymentored research, submit a summary report, present a poster during MVNU’s Homecoming activities, and present orally during MVNU’s spring Symposium for Undergraduate Research and Creative Works (sURC). Some students even present their work at professional conferences in their fields.
