Nataliya has never been further than her home or her orphanage.

“I don’t know how it feels to have a family that really loves me,” said Romina.

The stories of the happy days at Summer Camp have reached Ergy’s family and friends.

Nataliya has never been further than her home and her orphanage. She spends her weekends at home and they pass almost the same, most of the time. She has never been to a Summer Camp, and it would be a really unusual and exciting summer if she could go to one!

This summer Romina wants to go to Summer Camp and enjoy some rest and fun; “to get rid of the daily routine and weekly boredom of school,’’ she said.

Nataliya would really love to go! It’s so great that this summer might differ from all others. Summer is her favourite time of the year, but she will be looking forward to this summer even more than usual. At Summer Camp she will have a chance to experience the loving atmosphere of God’s Kingdom and to feel His love being poured out to her through our devoted volunteers, who minister in the children’s camps. Please pray for Nataliya this year as she goes to Summer Camp.

Nataliya has no idea what to expect there. Of course, she has been told by some of her peers that it is cool and awesome, so that she is excited by the idea that she might go this year! Some interesting events, different games, new friends and a lot of sports are among her expectations about the camp.

omina is a 12 years old girl from a Children’s Home. She is an intelligent girl and like most children, is full of life. She has big dreams and wishes for her future. She also knows what it means to long for something very small, to want something and not be able to have it.

“Romina is a very sociable and friendly girl. She is a good student and is keen to participate in the diverse activities organised in the school. She has good friendships and likes her teachers. In her leisure time, she enjoys the crocheting club and reading books in the library. She has a special passion for theatre and reciting poems. She deserves to have some happy and restful days in the summer season,” her teacher confesses. “This summer I strongly wish to go to Summer Camp because I hear it is wonderful. We will learn, play, rest as much as we want…and I will forget about all my problems and make some new friends.” I am very happy to know that I will be going to Summer Camp because we will learn Bible verses and many more Bible stories,” Romina beamed.

T

his year we will send our son to camp. It would be nice if my little girl could go as well. I hope the Summer Camp will change them and allow them to follow God’s path; it will bring positive changes in their behavior toward us, and the teachers. I hope they will have fun at the camp, too. I have heard good comments about the camp - that there they learn to sing songs, learn to praise the Lord, to pray and read the Bible. “

I have also heard that they bathe in the sea and in the swimming pool. I cannot send them to the beach alone, but knowing that there are many camp leaders at the camp to care for them, takes away my stress and makes me feel at peace.” their father Fatos shares. “I am eleven years old and I am in the 5th grade. I am so looking forward for the summer to come so that I can attend the camp. It is so beautiful there. My friends do not stop talking about the camp. We will learn about the Word of God. Ariana (the MWB Family to Family coordinator in their area) told me that in Summer, I will go to the camp together with my other friends. The food is very tasty there, my friends have told me. We will see movies and sing songs to praise the Lord. “I know that there is a swimming pool at the camp and we will enjoy swimming every day. I can’t wait!”, said Ergy.

Summer Camp story from 2012 Summer Camps in 2012 were a huge success Each year the number of young people who are able to attend Summer Camp in each country is increasing, due to the support of people like you. Here is a great story from Laura Goosen about the Bosnia Herzegovina camps in 2012.

Laura’s Story from Mission Without Borders Summer Camp 2012

T

he 2012 Summer Camps were again held in Bosnia Herzegovina, by the beautiful mountain lake of Boracko. They were run in co-operation with the Evangelical Church of Bosnia Herzegovina and each camp lasted six days. 65 Mission Without Borders beneficiaries aged 6 - 12 participated in the children’s camp with the theme “Heroes” and 40 beneficiaries aged 13-17 came to the teenage camp where the theme was “Life is a Story”. Laura Goosen (28) is from South Africa and she has been working in Mostar for the past year with the Christian youth organisation “Novi Most” and was a volunteer at both of the camps. For Laura, one of the highlights of camp was getting to know Jovana, who was in her group at the children’s camp. On the first day, Jovana asked Laura to speak English with her, explaining that they do not get many opportunities to practise at school and that she wanted to improve her English. “It was great to get to know her better and to see how much she enjoyed her time here, wishing that she could stay much longer.”

A positive thing about camp is the whole experience of being in a group and doing things together including cleaning the camp, setting out tables and washing dishes. It is a good opportunity for them to learn teamwork, accountability and responsibility and practice tasks which they may not do at home, and hopefully they will take some of these new skills home with them. The teenagers woke up very early and competed in a series of challenges around the lake as a team. This was a great time for them to learn the importance of sticking together and helping each other; they really seemed to get the message that looking out for one another is more important than winning. On a spiritual level, it is great that they got to hear God’s Word and sing songs to Him. It was good to see their openness to pray, no matter what background they came from. They got to hear that they are special and loved by God and that He has a plan for them. “I hope and pray that they will all carry what they have heard and experienced at camp back into their everyday lives, that they will continue to pray and that God will protect and water what He has planted in their hearts,” Laura said.
