More than just the technology By Kimberly Lightle The vast majority of teachers in the United States believe that integrating technology improves student learning, but we know that believing and doing are two different things. There are many reasons why teachers aren’t integrating technology (lack of access to technology and the need for professional development are two very significant barriers. Teachers who are integrating technology report that students are more motivated to learn, apply their knowledge to practical problems, and take ownership of their learning. Plus they learn 21st century technology skills. Using technology teachers find their classrooms to be more self-directed, they can facilitate student-centered learning, and be able to create more relevant and interactive lessons for their students.

A good reminder why we are Educators and have very high Standards. We do not want our Students to end up spoofed like this, Do We?
My Personal Perspective I am lucky to be an educator in our district because we have access to cutting edge technology and we have an expert on staff as our technology coordinator that mentors and provides us with opportunities to learn new skills yearly. We, also, have access to a timely and educational, hands-on technology conference every October. I started out a digital newcomer and as a first adapter I am finding myself a digital native. I implore you to use the tools that we all have access to. I know from experience that the students do all of the things that Ms. Lightle says and my classroom has become what I wanted, students taking ownership of their learning.
We all Have access To the following:
So this year
*smart board software *response system *cameras and video *free online tools *document camera
*Use Glogster, wordle,
*make a Google site *make podcast *make a movie or fottobabble
