Heritage & Railways National Slate Museum

Snowdonia’s narrow-gauge railways provide a wonderful way to see the area The quarries of Snowdonia outline a fascinating story. At Blaenau Ffestiniog are the breathtaking Llechwedd Slate Caverns plus a Victorian village. Take a self-guided tour of Inigo Jones Slateworks or browse the superb shop for high quality slate ware. The National Slate Museum in Llanberis gives an insight into the history of the quarrying industry. In contrast, close by, Electric Mountain is Europe’s largest pumped storage power station that generates hydro-electricity. Take a trip underground from the Visitor Centre.
