The route is divided into three Sections each with a leaflet;Southern: Barmouth to Talybont (8 miles) Central: Talybont to Harlech (13 miles) Northern: Harlech to Llandecwyn (12 miles). Ardudwy was a medieval province. ‘The Way’ crosses the geological formation of Cambrian Rocks, the Harlech Dome, and takes in some of the best coastal and mountain views in Wales. It visits prehistoric sites and offers the chance to see the varied vegetation and rare birds of the area. Please note there are no cafes or facilities along ‘The Way’.
BARMOUTH To reach the start of THE WAY from the square on Station Road cross the A496. Follow the lane round left then right then opposite St John’s church turn left to climb a steep hill. Ignore the first footpath sign but take the second footpath which carries the Taith Ardudwy Way fingerpost. This is the start of THE WAY and will be signed at all footpath junctions with the roundels carrying the buzzard logo It is 8 miles to Talybont. The end of the first section will be signified by another fingerpost pointing to both the southern and central sections. Following the lane downhill will lead eventually to Talynont via Pont Fadog and the river path from that sign at Llety Lloegr. W

TALYBONT From the Bus Stop on the A496 follow the broad track upstream from the bridge. On reaching the lane at Llety Lloegr turn right down to Pont Fadog then carry on uphill until reaching a gate. Just past the gate will be the Taith Ardudwy Way fingerposts pointing to the central and southern sections of THE WAY. The route may be followed in either direction and will be signed with the roundels carrying the buzzard logo From Talybont it is 13 miles to Harlech or 8 miles to Barmouth. The southern section will end with a fingerpost on a lane which may be followed downhill into Barmouth in about 500 yards. At the north end of the central section there will be fingerposts to point to both the central and northern sections. Turn left on the lane and follow signs for Llanfair or Harlech which may be reached in about 3 miles. W

DYFFRYN ARDUDWY From the crossroads just above the post office follow the main road A496 towards Harlech. Pass the Ael y Bryn Hotel and turn up the lane towards Cwm Nantcol. Follow the lane for 1½ mile and at a staggered junction go right and immediate left through a gate again signed Cwm Nantcol. After ½ mile pass a footpath on the right then a second path joins from the right. This is the central section of Taith Ardudwy Way which may be followed south to Talybont or it may be followed along the lane till a viewpoint and parking area is reached. THE WAY then leaves the parking area by a gate. The route may be followed in either direction and will be signed with the roundels carrying the buzzard logo W

LLANBEDR From the Victoria Inn follow the lane towards Cwm Bychan for 2 miles. Beware of traffic as there is no footpath along sections of this lane. At the sharp bends at Penybont cottage the central section of THE WAY joins the lane and continues on eventually turning off the lane at a farm drive signed Dinas. The route may be followed in either direction and will be signed with the roundels carrying the buzzard logo

HARLECH At the crossroads above the Castle go uphill for about 1 mile to a crossroads with a Chapel. Turn left and carry on for just over ½ mile and turn right along a lane to Cwm Bychan. After 1 mile fingerposts point to the north and central sections of Taith Ardudwy Way. The route may be followed in either direction and will be well sign posted along the way, look out for the buzzard logo It is 12 miles to Llandecwyn or 13 miles to Talybont. W

At the crossroads on the A496 go up through the village for 300 yards till the fingerpost for Taith Ardudwy Way is seen. This is the start of THE WAY and will be signed at all footpath junctions with the roundels carrying the buzzard logo It is 12 miles to Harlech.

The route is divided into three Sections each with a leaflet;Southern: Barmouth to Talybont (8 miles) Central: Talybont to Harlech (13 miles) Northern: Harlech to Llandecwyn (12 miles). Ardudwy was a medieval province. ‘The Way’ crosses the geological formation of Cambrian Rocks, the Harlech Dome, and takes in some of the best coastal and mountain views in Wales. It visits prehistoric sites and offers the chance to see the varied vegetation and rare birds of the area. Please note there are no cafes or facilities along ‘The Way’.

TALSARNAU Take the lane opposite ‘The Ship Aground’ and continue uphill passing the side lane to Soar. After about 1 mile turn left along a lane, pass another lane and telephone box and drop down to Llyn Tecwyn Isaf. At the next fork you join the Taith Ardudwy Way. It is 4 miles of moderate walking on the left to Llandecwyn or 10 miles across open moorland to Harlech. The route may be followed in either direction and will be signed with the roundels carrying the buzzard logo O
