MN FIELD TRIP LIBRARY & EXPO
2015 PARTNER PROGRAMS
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” - W.B. Yeats
The BIG A Note from Mark
5
Greetings! Welcome to the most unique and productive outreach program you’ll have the opportunity to become acquainted with the MN FIELD TRIP LIBRARY & EXPO! It’s all about the wonderful world of experiential learning and youthful recreation… with a friendly approach that brings educators and youth activity planners to us - as opposed to chasing after them!
! !
It’s that time of year again, and we’re soon into 2015… our 5th year of the MN Field Trip Library & EXPO. It’s the Big 5! First, to current Partners… Thank you for your participation in the Library, and I’ve had you in mind as next year’s program has been falling into place. It’s very exciting to see planners increasing their use of the Library, and to get reports from Partners like you, sharing news of how the Library has helped you! As a result, we can be optimistic about the continued growth of the Library! The 2014 Guides have been a “hit”, and it looks like 2015 will be another great year!
!
In 2014 you’ve seen the ALERTS grow in popularity as Stephanie Sauer has taken the editorial reigns. She’s doing a great job, and planners who visit the Library exhibit at numerous conferences tell us they LOVE the new look, and even better, the content! Great job, Stephanie and Partners.
!
Next, to those of you who are considering participating in our Partner program… You’ll soon discover that you’ve never seen anything like the Library. When you see it at work, you’ll appreciate the mantra of our initiative: “When the tide rises, all boats rise”. I hope you’ll notice - and appreciate - how we’re always striving to keep planners mindful of you on many fronts simultaneously… for the entire year! Please remember that when you join, the more you participate in our outreach programming, the more response you can get!
!
We’re getting ready for 2015, and you’ll see there are great new opportunities you’ll want to take advantage of… • New approaches to conferences • New outreach into neighboring states around Minnesota • New advertising opportunities in more Guides in 2015 (our 2nd year of publication) • New monthly emails: STEM & SCIENCE ALERTS, and COMMUNITIES WITH FIELD TRIPS ALERTS! • We’re working on a website “remodel”, too! Hopefully done yet this year!
! !
Please take time to read this brochure carefully, and expect a GREAT 2015! Mark Peterson, President and Publisher MN Field Trip Library & EXPO 8014 Highway 55 #130 • Minneapolis, MN 55427 612-518-8353 • mark@mnfieldtriplibrary.org • www.MnFieldTripLibrary.org

ABOUT
The GUIDE
Component #1: THE GUIDE
!In 2014, the annual GUIDE is our newest outreach component… experiencing great success! THE GUIDE “is a a great publication for getting acquainted with field trips and activities”… “really attractive and easy to use”… “it got me to your website”… “I signed up for the ALERTS because of the GUIDE”… “I found out about the EXPO from the Guide”, “I didn’t realize we had so many options for field trips and assemblies until I got the Guide”, and “I’d like to take 12 back to my elementary school for my team leaders”.
!
We’ve been distributing the free GUIDE at each of the 2014 conferences (we’re not done yet this year, either), handing them individually to very interested planners. In fact, someone who gets the GUIDE takes ALL the PARTNERS home with them - EVERY TIME! Often they will quickly flip through it, and then come back later to request more GUIDES for fellow teachers and staff. Elementary school principals will often take back 10-15 for their Team Leaders. Frequently we’re asked by teachers and other adults if they can go to the places in the GUIDE without a group of students! What do you think we say to that? :-)
!The 2014 GUIDE - 64 pages of Minnesota’s BEST provider K-12 activities - has been personally handed free of charge to thousands of educators and youth leaders!

THE CONFERENCES & EVENTS
Component #2: THE CONFERENCES & EVENTS
!Since 2010, the Field Trip Library exhibit has been at 141+ professional conferences & events in MN… with great response!
Conferences attract educators, team leaders, and decision-makers who plan field trips or in-school activities, assemblies or programs… or they know the people in their school or organization who make them happen. At conferences we promote our Partners, distribute GUIDES, get signups for our monthly permission-based ALERTS, hold Field Trip drawings (often from the stage for all to see), distribute literature, and help the attendees learn to use the Library during the rest of the year. The number of contacts we’ve gained at these conferences & events have grown from “0” to more than 16,500 in 4 short years. See the Conference Schedule at: www.mnfieldtriplibrary.org

THE MONTHLY ALERTS
Component #4: THE MONTHLY ALERTS
Partners send announcements to loyal readers every month… for a year! THE ALERTS PROVIDE A YEAR-LONG ANNOUNCEMENT PLATFORM FOR YOUR PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES
!GET ENGAGED WITH 15,000+ WELL-QUALIFIED PLANNERS WHO LOYALLY READ 19,000 ALERTS EVERY MONTH - Averaging 40% opens and 30% clicks.
More than 15,000 individuals from all over Minnesota consistently receive 19,000 permission-based ALERTS every month (plus more than 900 from our neighboring states) including teachers & education staff, after-school/summer activity coordinators, community educators, scout and youth group leaders, homeschoolers, park & recreation staff, and library program planners. And did I mention a large number of “unknowns” who really like what we’re doing, too?
!As a Partner, you’ll get 12 ALERTS to use for announcements during a year, and you will pick one of the 4 ALERTS for your announcement every month. All 4 types of ALERTS are
designed to offer up to planners fresh ideas and new activities/field trips that will help take the effort out of their planning. Your submission each month should be different (we don’t want any eyes glazing over or loss of attention, right?), and we encourage you to have a special webpage created to link to for your announcement’s details. Information is always “king” for the planners we support. Since this program is permission-based, planners opt to receive any one or all particular ALERT(s).
!Content and announcements from Partners include:
- New programs, performances, field trips, in-school programs & assemblies, special offers & relevant news, plus even periodic drawings (only for ALERTS recipients)… plus - Announcing your new & updated “downloadables” (brochures, visitor guides, study guides, program flyers, posters, etc) that are available to download from our website. HERE ARE THE 4 ALERT SELECTIONS FOR PARTNERS, AND WHEN THEY WILL EACH BE EMAILED DURING THE MONTH: •
•
WEEK #1: FIELD TRIP ALERTS
Announcements from a variety of field trip destinations, school programs and educational performers - we suggest everyone receives this ALERT.
WEEK #2: ARTS & MUSIC ALERTS
