APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED SEPT 1ST - OCT 4TH @ NEHELANI, SCHOFIELD BARRACKS Audition to be the next rising star! Operation Rising Star is an individual singing competition. Similar to American Idol and other televised competitions, participants are judged by a panel of judges and by an audience of peers. Singers will compete each week for the chance to win the local first prize - $500. The winner of the local Army Hawaii Competition moves on to the Army-wide competition for the chance to win the “Ultimate Recording Music Experience”- Record, Mix, and Master a demo with studio professionals. Competition is open to Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard or military Family members, 18 years of age and older with a valid DoD ID card. October 1st Seek the Unknown @ Fort Shafter Library Teens! Put your creative juices to work and create an original promotional flyer with this theme (a favorite book, theme interpretation, etc.) and bring it in to the Fort Shafter Library from October 1st 31st. October 15th PUNT, PASS, & KICK @ Watts Field & AMR Field Partnering with the National Football League’s “Play 60” campaign to integrate a new footballcentered program, to promote healthy and resilient lifestyles for Soldiers, Families and their children, Punt, Pass, & Kick (PPK) competition will be held at USAG Hawaii. PPK is for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15 years. PPK will assist Army coaches and teachers in developing the fundamentals of punting, passing and kicking a football while enhancing skills associated with working as a team. Boys and girls compete in five separate age divisions with the goal of achieving their best and longest punt, pass and place-kick. The divisions include ages 6 - 7, 8 - 9, 10 - 11, 12 - 13 & 14 -15. Division winners of the USAG Hawaii competition qualify for Sectional and Regional PPK competitions and the top 4 winners in each age group will receive the opportunity to participate in a PPK exhibition before an NFL game.
