Tripler & Fort Shafter In addition to the swimming pool and cardio rooms, TAMC offers fitness classes on Mondays (Step Aerobics), Wednesday (Cardio Kickboxing), and Fridays (Zumba Fitness) from 4:30 to 5:30 pm; 35-40 minutes cardio, including strength training and Pilates Mat for an all around workout. Free for active duty military and their dependents w/ID, all others including DoD personnel are $4.00 per class or $25.00 per monthly pass.

ARMY FAMILY COVENANT / BLUE STAR CARD

The Blue Star Card is an Family and MWR discount and activities program intended to enhance the well being of Spouses and Families of combat deployed Army Soldiers during the stressful time of deployment. THE BIG

Walk off the Wait (WOW) This activity is held every other month to give Blue Star Card holders the opportunity to see how beautiful the island is by going on various hikes around Oahu. Big R: Countdown to Redeployment This is a monthly event for Blue Star Card holders to count down the months until their Soldier returns. Each month there is a different activity such as Bowling, Zumba, Casino Night, Luau, etc. as well as free childcare and appetizers. Create-a-Card This activity is held four times per year at the SGT Yano Library. It gives the Families of deployed Soldiers the chance to make personalized greeting cards for their Soldiers. Theatre Night This event is held four times per year at the Army Community Theatre, Richardson Theatre, Fort Shafter. Blue Star Card holders can enjoy transportation, preshow appetizers, and a viewing of a performance of the current production at the theatre, all for free!

Theatre Thursdays @ SGT. Yano Library Schofield Barracks Learn the basics of stage acting in our on-going theatre program for ages 12 and up. Meetings will be held the first and third Thursdays of the month (Mar. 3, 17 and Apr. 7, 21) from 4 to 5:30 pm. Learn stage presence, acting skills, improvisation techniques and the varying types of theatre. Call for more information or to register. Walk-ins are also welcome. Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! @ the Libraries The Cat in the Hat will be visiting Army Libraries in March to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday. This free program is for children of all ages. Come to Aliamanu Library on Tues, Mar. 1, SGT. Yano Library on Wed, Mar. 2, and Fort Shafter Library on Thurs, Mar. 3. All programs will begin at 3 pm. The cat will read some Seuss classics like Green Eggs and Ham and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Afterschool @ SGT. After School Fun @ Fort Shafter Library Did you know Mar. 14 is “Save a Spider Day”? Come to the library for some after school spider fun. Make a craft, play some games and if you see a spider, don’t step on it! Join the fun Mar. 14, from 3 - 3:45 pm. All ages welcome!

Crocheting with Plarn @ the libraries What is Plarn? Why it’s plastic yarn, which can be recycled from grocery bags. Staff will teach participants how to turn ordinary plastic shopping bags into “plarn”, as well as share some fun crochet patterns. It will be helpful to know some crochet, but not necessary. Bring an N hook and 2 - 3 plastic bags to start with. Give your used plastic bags new life! Sessions will be held on Tues, Apr. 5 at AMR Library, Wed, Apr. 6 at Ft Shafter Library, and Thurs, Apr. 7 at SGT. Yano Library. All programs will run from 5 - 6:30 pm. Clothing Swap @ AMR Library Recycle Reduce Reuse! Apr. 22 is Earth Day. Save money and reduce waste by participating in a clothing swap at the library. Gather all the perfectly good wardrobe items that you no longer wear (unused stuff clutters your life), say bye-bye with bliss, as you let go of your items. Make space for new-to-you pieces that you actually WILL wear! The swap will be held on Fri, Apr. 22, from 4 – 5:30 pm. Call for more information.

Scavenger Hunt @ the libraries Help the Army libraries celebrate National Library Week, Apr. 10-16 by participating in our Library Scavenger Hunt. The hunt runs all week long and every participant receives a prize when they complete their card. There will be a grand prize drawing at the end of the week for all participants. With four categories to choose from Preschool, School Age, Teen, and Adult, the whole family can take part. Come one, come all!

READ TO THE DOGS @ SGT. Yano and Aliamanu Libraries Our volunteer therapy dogs and service dogs from Hawaii Fido are nonjudgmental and comforting to children who need to practice their reading and improve their fluency. Children who are able to read on their own may sign up for a 15-minute session to read to a dog at SGT. Yano Library on Saturday, Mar. 12 and Apr. 9 from 11 am – 12:15 pm, and Saturday Mar. 5 and Apr. 2 from 9 – 10:15 am at AMR library. Call either library to reserve a space or for more information.

Flower Lei Making @ the libraries To help our military families learn about Lei Day in Hawaii, the Army libraries, in partnership with the Native Hawaiian Office, will be hosting Flower Lei-Making Workshops. Tues, Apr. 26, 5:30 - 7:00 pm at Aliamanu Community Center; Wed, Apr. 27, 5:30 - 7:00 pm at Fort Shafter Library; and Thurs, Apr. 28, 6 - 7:30 pm at SGT. Yano Library, Schofield Barracks. Schofield Barracks - The resale lot has gone from USAG-Oahu North Community Director’s office to DFMWR, Schofield Barracks Auto Skills Center. Permits to place your vehicle in the Resale Lot can be obtained at the SB Auto Skills Center. Fees for the permit will be as follows: 7 day permit fee $7.00, 14 day permit fee $14.00, 21 day permit fee $21.00, 28 Day permit fee $28.00, 7 day minimum. No refunds on permits.
