YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program (YDPP)
The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program helps overweight adults (age 18+) at risk for type 2 diabetes reduce their risk for developing the disease by taking steps that will improve their overall health and wellbeing. Led by a Lifestyle coach, participants learn small, measurable, changes that can reduce your risk and help you live a happier, healthier life. This program runs for a year and is offered at no cost to members. The next class will start in January 2022.

This program is designed to help participants with hypertension lower their blood pressure by following an evidence-based program that combines blood pressure self-monitoring, nutrition education seminars, and personalized support. A Healthy Heart Ambassador will support, guide, and educate each participant in this simple, evidence-based program. Participants will receive a free blood pressure cuff and attend free monthly nutrition webinars over the course of the four-month program. These sessions can be virtual or in-person. This program is offered on a rolling basis.

Parkinson Program
This 12-week, drop-in program is open to anyone with a neuromuscular or cerebrocascular condition such as Parkinson’s, or Multiple Sclerosis. Each weekly class will include a variety of different exercises to help improve mobility, stability, strength, endurance, cognition, and flexibility. This program is free to members. Nonmembers will receive a three-month YMCA membership to participate. After three months they can become members or attend with the purchase of a day pass.

EnhanceFitness
This is an evidence-based group exercise program for older adults that can prevent falls and help with symptoms of arthritis. The class offers simple, easy to learn movements and combines several key areas of fitness: cardio exercise, strength training, flexibility and balance. The goal of the program is to motivate participants to improve overall function and well-being. The group participation and social interaction are often cited by participants as important dimensions of this program. The class can be done seated or standing and the exercises are modified for individuals’ needs and abilities.
The next class starts January 3, 2022.
