DDA COMPLIANCE DOESN’T NEED TO STIFLE YOUR CREATIVITY; WITH FULL COLOUR AND METALLIC PRINT FINISHES, FROSTED DOTS ARE ONLY THE BEGINNING. We are experts in providing an extensive range of window film solutions for glass, from achieving compliance on building projects to creating stunning displays with full colour printing, including metallic print finishes. As well as ensuring compliance with building regulations, window film can be used to overcome a wide range of glass-related issues: solar films to avoid excess heat; safety, security and bomb-blast films for added protection; and frosted window films for privacy.
Most internal glazing requires some form of marking in order to comply with ‘Disability Discrimination Act’ (DDA) building regulations, but you are no longer restricted in what can be achieved, with standard window dots being superseded by an array of creative possibilities. With an expert understanding of the solutions available, we can help bring your glazing to life.
Window films can be printed in full colour, which not only retains the practical benefits, but in addition allows you to design and create stunning visual displays. With removable and repositionable films also available, there is great flexibility as to how and where these films can be used.

Optically clear printed vinyl can create a level of privacy without blocking out light or obscuring the view entirely.
Cut frosted window vinyl in interesting shapes complies with DDA regulations whilst allowing creativity.
Full window frosting with only small sections cut out adds extra privacy. Frosted vinyl is also available in different grades of opacity depending on your privacy requirements.
One-way vision film means that from inside you can see out without compromising the light allowed into the building, but from the outside, all you see is the graphic. A great solution for glass buildings.

Dye sublimation is the most superior way to print stunning, high quality images and pictures onto a wide range of fabrics. With dye sublimation, the ink transfers into the fabric rather than just attaching to the surface, maintaining full flexibility of the fabric once printed, which no other digital print solution is able to offer. With the ability to also machine wash the fabrics once printed, this really is an extremely versatile way of producing eye-catching graphics for a range of applications. Fabrics are proving to be a key product for use in many different areas both indoor and outdoor, such as retail and promotional graphics, exhibition displays and interior commercial office environments. /ACRYLIC We love cut acrylic and it can create some beautiful effects. A top creative agency in Nottingham designed this white-on-white wall with different thicknesses of acrylic letters, mixed with white gloss adhesive vinyl letters. The result was fabulous with real depth, creating some interesting shadows next to a large window.

We designed and installed the production area reception graphics at Vaillant Group’s UK headquarters. Using a mixture of acrylic and fabric displays, we created a room to promote the brand message and inspire the staff when entering the production building.

ACRYLIC A hard plastic material noted for its weather resistance and colour fastness. It is available in a variety of colours including white, as well as translucent and clear. ANTI-SHATTER FILM See BOMB-BLAST FILM. AI FILE FORMAT Adobe Illustrator file format (ai) is used as a file type for vector files or text files created in a design programme. These save as a smaller file than EPS. BOMB-BLAST FILM A film applied to glass which won’t prevent the glass breaking but will, however, keep all particles of the glass together. CMYK C=cyan, M=magenta, Y=yellow, K=black. The print industry standard ink combination for printing any image. More recently developers have added Light Cyan, Light Magenta and now White ink to expand the range of tones and vibrancy achievable. CROP MARKS Lines near the edges of an image indicating portions to be reproduced. Also called cut marks and tick marks. DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) – Markings on glass, which allow it to be seen easily. Part M of the Manifestation Regulation states that companies must have DDA on glass entrance doors and glazed screens. DIBOND A brand name for a composite material consisting of a polyethylene core and an aluminium coating on both sides. Particularly suited for outdoor use as signage and hoardings. Some brands can be directly printed onto, while others can be wrapped with vinyl graphics.

DIGITAL WALLPAPER A product that allows you to produce professional wallpaper with an image of your own choice. Digital wallpaper is truly versatile and is applied in the same way as traditional wallpaper, creating an eyecatching graphic wall. DOUBLE STRIKE PRINTING Double quantity of ink to make images appear bolder with more depth of colour. DPI [DOTS PER INCH] A measure of picture resolution or printer dot density. The higher the DPI, the finer the image will be. Generally, 300 dpi is considered minimum for production of magazines but in large format printing, 100-150 dpi is considered adequate at printed size. This is due to the distance from which the prints are usually viewed. DPI is also used to judge the quality of images in printing files. DURATRAN A brand name for a display transparency material that is translucent and can be printed onto, thus allowing the material to be illuminated. DYE SUBLIMATION A printing process that uses heat to transfer dye into materials such as plastic, card, paper or fabric. The dye is permanent and does not peel or fade. Colours are extraordinarily brilliant due to the bonding of the dye to the transparent fibres of the synthetic fabric. EPS FILE FORMAT A standard file format for importing and exporting PostScript files. An EPS file can contain photos, gradients, intricate patterns and anything intended to be printed. ETCH-EFFECT FILM See FROSTED FILM.
FABRIFRAME A seamless custom tension fabric system for internal use at any size. They can be wall mounted or freestanding with interchangeable graphics that are easy to fit. FABRIGRAB A seamless fabric wall covering system for internal graphics. It can be fitted neatly around sockets, switches, windows and doors to create a smooth finish that sits only a few millimetres away from the existing wall. FABRILIGHT A variation of FabriFrame, backlit with LED lights. FABRISOUND A variation of FabriFrame, with acoustic and sound absorbing qualities. FOAM BOARD An expanded polystyrene foam-centred board (CFC free), laminated, with white coated paper on both sides. Can be directly printed onto or used as a mounting substrate; it has a bright white finish and is easily cut. FOAMEX A brand name for a rigid PVC material which is a popular choice for indoor graphics and outdoor signage. It is a flexible, durable material, which can be easily cut and drilled. FROSTED FILM A film that leaves a frost effect on glass applications. Most commonly used on interior glass offices to give a frost effect decoration or level of privacy. INSTALLATION The process of fitting graphics on-site with qualified operatives. KISS CUT A form of cutting where a very light impression cuts through the peel-off portion of pressure-sensitive materials only, and not through the backing material.

LAMINATING Covering with plastic or a liquid that hardens to protect the print. LARGE FORMAT PRINTING Generally thought to be printing larger than tabloid (280 x 432mm) LIGHTBOX A backlit illuminated display unit that uses either fluorescent or LED lighting to illuminate a translucent printed graphic that is placed in front. LOCATORS Also referred to as spacers and stand-offs, these are wall fixings that allow signs and graphics to be set a distance away from the wall. MANIFESTATION The application of a graphic to glazing or walls. OPACITY The higher the opacity, the less you can see through. Opacity is a scale measured in percentage. For example, 66% opacity would allow light and silhouettes/shapes visible to the eye. OPAQUE FILM Does not transmit light. Not to be confused with either transparent or translucent. OPTICALLY CLEAR FILM A film that allows 100% transparency, like glass, upon which designs can be printed onto in great detail. PANTONE Universally recognised colour guide. It provides an accurate method for the selection, specification, reproduction and matching of colours. This is a Design Colour Standard Range. PDF (Portable Document Format) is a selfcontained cross-platform document that will look the same on the screen and in print, regardless of what kind of computer or printer someone is using.

PIXEL A single dot of colour in an image. A 2 megapixel image has 1,920,000 pixels (1200x1600 pixels). POLYCARBONATE A form of plastic that is so hard to break it is often used in areas accessible by the public. It can be printed directly onto, is recyclable and weighs less than both acrylic and glass but is more expensive. RAL Trade alternative for painted applications such as emulsions, egg-shell paints and powder coating. RASTER IMAGE PROCESSOR (RIP) Interprets the data from an image file into a form that a printer can understand. This translated information tells the print machine how to lay down dots of ink to reproduce your image on the printed page. SELF-ADHESIVE VINYL A pressure-sensitive material that can be cut into almost any shape and size. Available in white for printing onto or stock colours for cutting to shape, the material can be supplied in different grades with varying amounts of conformability and longevity. Used for simple wall graphics through to complete vehicle wraps. SILICON BEADING A strip of flexible plastic that is stitched around the edge of printed fabric graphics to allow insertion into a tension frame system. SINGLE STRIKE PRINTING A standard, common style of print which uses a single layer of ink.
STAND-OFFS Wall fixings that allow graphics to be mounted away from the wall which come in a variety of finishes: chrome, brushed steel or coloured. TRANSLUCENT FILM Originally used for illuminated applications such as lightboxes. Now being used for interior fit-outs in well lit areas to provide a vibrant colour injection. TRANSPARENT FILM A see-through film which offers low levels of privacy. Transparent films come in a broad range of colours to give a stained glass effect. UV PRINTING In UV printing, UV light is used to dry specially formulated inks that are printed on non-porous materials. This process allows us to print onto many sheet materials, as well as optically clear film. VINYL See SELF-ADHESIVE VINYL. VECTORS OR PATHED IMAGES A vector image has a path that leads all around the contour of the graphic. These images are able to be enlarged to any size without losing quality. Vectors are also used for the production process of vinyl cutting, where the knife follows the contour to cut the shape. WHITE IN-PROCESS PRINTING White ink can be used in two ways. Either as a spot colour, or printed in the same mix as other colours (CMYK) to produce a bolder image which is less see through and has more vibrant colour.
SOLVENT PRINTING A kind of printing that uses solvent inks, which are chemically aggressive and work their way down into the substrate. SPLIT BATTENS Hidden fixing systems designed to provide an effective way of hanging graphic panels to vertical walls.

All artwork should include a minimum of 3mm bleed on all edges. Increase the amount of bleed for larger items; 6mm for larger posters and 12mm for banner stands.
Your artwork should include a 25mm bleed on all edges. Please ensure there is a safe area of 25mm also. If your image is larger than 3m x 3m, please call to discuss.
Please supply artwork at either full size (100%), half-size (50%) or quarter-size (25%) and make this clear on the artwork. Artwork should be at 300dpi when at full size.

Ensure that you embed or outline your fonts and avoid using text which is below 4pt. If you are supplying artwork in a format other than a PDF please include all linked images and font files.
Please supply your artwork in CMYK and make sure that any critical colours are set up as Pantone spot colours. Provide a CMYK equivalent for any other special colours.
We prefer print-ready PDFs but we also accept artwork files supplied as Adobe Photoshop PSD, Illustrator AI/EPS and InDesign INDD and Quark QXD.
