Success for Feeding Performance/KTM Canada/A&E Racing Team at Canadian Enduro Championship Seventeen year old Ty McKenna and seasoned off-road warrior Jack Sawatzky proved that they were excellent picks for the new Feeding Performance/KTM Canada/A&E Racing Team after both riders were able to deliver podium finishes at the 2012 Canadian Enduro Championship. Saint John, NB – July 25th, 2012 -
Both McKenna and Sawatzky finished the series in the Top 5 of the E1 Pro Class at the close of the four round 2012 series.

The scorching heat at Rounds 1 & 2 in Noble Canyon near Vernon, British Columbia played havoc with racers, support crews and spectators alike. Facing serious competition from proven E1 specialists Guy Giroux and Philippe Chainé who travelled from Quebéc, and British Columbia’s blazing fast Tyler Murray, Alberta’s Sawatzky and McKenna would finish the day in 4th and 5th position respectively at Round 1. The duo would swap positions the following day at Round 2 with McKenna taking 4th followed closely by Sawatzky in 5th.

McKenna and Sawatzky were able to up their game when they returned to home turf the following weekend for Rounds 3 & 4 at Racehorse Creek in the heart of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains. Ty McKenna was on a mission to prove his abilities at Racehorse and put in an impressive ride at Round 3 to claim his spot on the podium with a solid 3rd Place finish. Unfortunately, after scoring another Top 3 test time in the early part of Round 4 the following day, McKenna clipped a tree at speed with his shoulder. Although Ty tried to continue, the pain and loss of strength in his shoulder forced him to retire for the day. After being a consistent podium finisher in regional races both in Canada and the USA for many years, as well as in the Canadian Enduro Championship since the series began in 2009, it was very apparent that Jack Sawatzky was more than a little frustrated by missing the podium in the previous rounds of the 2012 CEC.

Round 4 offered some sweet redemption for Sawatzky after he was able to log a smooth and mistake free ride to deliver a 2nd Place finish to his new team and sponsors, and climb the podium at the end of the day. Never a man of many words, Jack’s grin after he heard the results spoke volumes about his well deserved satisfaction. “I’m definitely pleased that we were able to get both of our new racers on the box” said FP’s Marc Coffin. “I am humbled by the support that we have received from Dave French at A&E Racing & Marine and the rest of our great sponsors to make this switch to KTM and there is no better way to pay them back than to deliver podium finishes. I was very impressed with young Ty. I watched him closely at these rounds and his riding style and never surrender attitude is impressive to say the least. I think that he has a great future ahead of him and no doubt he will be a podium and championship contender for many years. It’s a shame he got hurt at the final round. You could see the disappointment in his eyes when he came back to the pits. The good news is that the injury is not serious and he is already back on the bike. I felt bad for Jack at the first few rounds. Although he was riding great and holding his own in the Top 5, you could tell he wanted and expected more. It was pretty awesome to see the look on his face when I chased him through the muddy pits to let him know he had finished 2 nd at the last round. He worked hard and rode smart and he definitely deserved that result.” Since 2007, Feeding Performance has supported more than 15 of Canada’s top racers as they challenged the sport’s best competitors across Canada and in various countries around the globe, including; Austria, Brazil, Chile, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and the United States.
