KTM Ride Orange Moto Tour Eastern demo ride recap THE 2012 KTM RIDE ORANGE MOTO TOUR WRAPS UP! Over 600 Canadians test ride 2012 KTM MX and Off-road models

After five weeks, 10 stops in four provinces and $2,000 worth of bike fuel, the KTM Ride Orange Moto Tour comes to a close. Last weekend was the final round, with the tour spending two full days at the beautiful Deschambault track & trail facility in Quebec (2 hours north of Montreal). We welcomed over 120 demo riders to Deschambault and received great dealer support from Enduro KTM, JaPerformance and TY Moteurs. Going back 3 weeks … we started the Moto Tour in Agassiz, BC and worked our way east, with stops in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. Over 600 riders took part across 10 events, and most got a chance to ride at least 6 new KTMs! Very impressive was how solid our 12 demo bikes held up after 11 hard days of riding. Most of them didn’t require anything more than grips, tires, filters, oil, and tubes. (A real testament to the KTM quality is shown in the 150 SX, which easily had the most hours but never stopped running strong.) During breaks in the Moto Tour, we took advantage of local events, like MMRS’ Muttco Mountain race in Eastern Ontario and Gregoire Motorsport’s Open House, to show off the Factory Racing KTM semi and allow folks to take a tour inside. They loved it! Producing the Moto Tour isn’t easy, and we owe a BIG thanks to all of our passionate KTM dealers for providing excellent staff and support at each event. At many rounds, our team also benefited in help from KTM ambassadors, factory racers and local mechanics who just wanted to be part of the experience. Thanks guys!

Below is a quick look at the Eastern swing of the Ride Orange Moto Tour:

PREPARATION IS KEY TO SUCCESS: KTM’s newest truck driver, Steve Beavis, is one of the most organized guys we’ve ever met. He made sure that every round featured a neat and tidy pit set up at the Eastern demos. Believe me, you don’t want to enter his trailer with dirty shoes!

AUSTRIAN TOUGH: As you can imagine, demo rides (or I should say, riders) put a lot of stress on bikes. You have up to 100 riders, all types of abilities and riding styles, mud, dirt, water… things can happen. But, our

demo fleet stuck together for most of the tour, and we didn’t go through much more than the usuals (grips, levers, chains, sprockets, tires). The new KTMs are durable and can certainly take abuse … but we still recommend showing yours TLC to ensure maximum performance!

The gang at Red Bull made appearances at most of the demo rides … and then made everyone jealous with their unobtainable KTM Red Bull race team decal kits.

(ORANGE) WOLF PACK: It’s never a one-man-wolf-pack with KTM demo rides! At most events, promoters allow sessions where only our 12 demo bikes are on the track at once. It gives test riders lots of space to feel comfortable, relax and enjoy the ride. Thank you, trackowners/promoters, for providing us with great tracks and facilities at every round!

The Wolf Pack races up the overpass at the Sand Del Lee.

The cool little things that Red Bull does so well (like adding an arch entrance to the track), really make a big impact for everyone involved, especially the athletes.

A battle begins at RJ Motosport Park!

MX101’s Kevin Tyler (and Sand Del Lee track owner) relives the glory days with old rival, Jim Kohlman of Fred Kohlman’s Wheelsport.

Again, it’s the little things that count.

Now you agree 

Young Bradley Dool was burning laps during the Sand Del Lee demo ride. Dool is racing Intermediate this year and opted for a 250cc two-stroke. His 250 SX-F sounds so crisp and even better is the fact that he doesn’t shut it off very often!

Deschambault Motocross …one of the best in la belle province!

The King of Canadian Motocross, Jean-Sebastien Roy, was on hand during the X Town and Deschambault demo rides. It’s fun watching the five-time champ mingling with the crowd, adjusting levers, offering advice or hiding a Red Bull for after the event (lol). Aside from his long list of race credentials, JSR is a down to earth guy like the rest of us and isn’t afraid to put on his boots and get to work. He’s The Champ!

Kaven Benoit was at Deschambault breaking in his new 250 SX-F race bike. Word has it that his 250 is pumping out serious ponies already! Even though he said bad blisters were slowing him down, Benoit was still moving quite fast and smooth. Should be interesting when he lines up for the East Coast nationals.

Benoit’s mechanic, Jerome, showcases his finest two projects: a well restored GM pick-up truck and brand new KTM 250 SX-F (Benoit’s race bike). Colouring the world orange!

What a pleasure it was watching JSR spin a few laps at Deschambault. He may not be riding with the same intensity as he did when racing nationals, but he’s the same rider. Fast and smooth. JSR doesn’t ride that much, but he still likes to get out for a good fun ride with friends. See you at the races!
