Take the Good Days with the Bad

“Grazed a tree. [ My shoulder] is swollen up pretty big, so we’ll see what happens “ CD

Wardlow, AB: CGRT had one of the those weekends that’s sees its racers go home and regroup, adjust and get prepared for the next event. Provost, AB’s Cole Dobovich went to the second round of the Alberta Dirt Riders Association’s off road calendar, the Porcupine Hills Cross Country. Consisting of two separate 50 km loops, riders ride a long event where they do not race across the same course twice. In his efforts to push towards the front of the pack, Cole suffered a setback during a collision with a tree, injuring his shoulder and cutting his hand. The frustration of the pain and consequent poor performance left the rookie Pro very unhappy with his day. “ I was trying to make up some time on the second loop, and that’s where it came apart. I was trying to avoid all the little whippers from hitting [my shoulder] and then I’d get off the trail. I struggled lots, but I’m going to work on what I need to and press on. Boise next!!” Cole will be riding Open A at the Idaho 100, 2 day enduro near Boise, Idaho June 2/3. Kitimatt, BC’s Ben Rego had much the same type of day near Vernon, BC, at the Squealing Pig Hare Scramble. After getting “ a sick start “, Ben led the Pro class, until a split in the course where he continued on the wrong section of the course. Once he realized his error, he was forced to dnf the event. “ I was in first, didn’t see the A B split and went the wrong way. Not happy.” Not the best for Ben, but his determination will certainly bring him better results at the next race.
