Team Canada MX is proud to announce one of the eight nominees chosen to represent Canada at this year’s Motocross of Nations (MXON) in Lommel, Belgium September 30, 2012. Team Canada MX will help send three of the country’s top riders to compete at the single most important event on the World Motocross Calendar. Team Canada Nominee: Cole Thompson It would be a huge honour to be picked to race for Team Canada, we have so much talent up here in the Great White North, and to be able to represent for this country would be amazing. I may not have been Pro for very long, but I have been through some high pressure, high intensity races to get me ready for this type of event. What I lack in Pro experience, I make up for in my versatility, I feel like I have the ability to adapt to a track quick and get up to race speed. This year I will be spending the majority of my time racing as a privateer in the super competitive US nationals. I will be racing a 450, although I am fully confident on the 250, it is just more finically sound to race the bigger bike. I am going to race 9 out of the 12 US Nationals, and the possibility of racing one of the Canadian Nationals.
History: I started riding at the age of 3, and racing at 4. In the beginning I only raced locally, here in Ontario and some Michigan races. I won my first Canadian National in 2004 in the 65 class, that same year I started racing the US Amateur Nationals. Once I seen how competitive the racing was South of the border, I hit up every major national possible. After racing 7 full years of Amateur nationals, I was able to win titles at every track (Mini O's, Lake Whitney, Oak Hill, Freestone, World Minis, Ponca City) and the last and most memorable Championship coming at my last ever Amateur race which was at Loretta Lynn's, where I brought home the 450 B title. I then moved to Pro, and started prepping for Supercross, my first
SX in Montreal I was able to get a 2nd. Which is probably my best Pro finish to date, although I did finish with a few top ten's in the East Coast lites SX. I still have a lot to learn, but I am hoping that racing the US series it will get me to where I need to be, and fast.
