ituated 22km offshore from the town of Onslow, 1400km north of Perth in Western Australia’s spectacular Pilbara region, the Mackerel Islands are an ideal fishing destination for the adventurous or the weary.
Fishing action is up there with some of the best and you will not be disappointed with the many five-star species on offer. Marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, spanish mackerel, wahoo, snapper, red and spangled emperor, queenfish, coral trout and cod are just some of the fish you are likely to catch and whether you’re after the record or a feed of quality fish, there’s something for all. Thevenard Island will host the 2010 Yamaha Outboard Game Fishing Tournament. Thevenard is a C Class Nature Reserve, offering accommodation at Club Thevenard, or beach-front bungalows. Club Thevenard is a 30-room village (twin and single rooms) with spacious restaurant, bar, pool and outdoor relaxation area. Alternatively, 11 comfortable beach-front bungalows really allow you to be at one with nature. Cabins vary from 6 to 10 beds and are fully self-contained. Linen is provided at the island. Thevenard Island has its own shop, which sells everything from tackle and bait, to alcohol and food basics. The island receives fresh fruit and veggies every week and there is a large communal freezer for successful fishers.

Trophy/Prize List Over $10,000 in prizes and trophies are up for grabs. Costs Club Thevenard - $890 per person. Includes 6 nights accommodation, includes all meals (shared bathroom), ensuite price on request. Beach Cabins - $890 per person (min 6 people per cabin). Includes 6 nights accommodation, briefing dinner on arrival and presentation dinner at end of competition. Food can be purchased from the island shop. There is an option for all meals to be included at the Island restaurant ($75 per person per day, breakfast/lunch/ dinner).
