Volume 60, No. 4

April, 2011 From Your Madam President

Bertha McKibbin is Daffodil’s top Eaglet At our District #7 Meeting on March 13 held at our Aerie, I was honored to present the “Eaglet of the Year” plaque to Bertha McKibbin. She has been an Auxiliary member for 13 years. During seven of those years she has been volunteering to help with Sunday breakfast and also helping out with the funeral luncheons. She is a member of the Daffodil Roamers RV Club. Congratulations go out to Bertha!! Easter is right around the corner. Don’t forget to bring all of your kids and grandkids down for the annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 23 at 11 a.m. Peter Cottontail will be here to greet all the children — big and small. I would like to give a big thank you to my Auxiliary Cancer Chairman, Shireen Ainsworth. She has done an awesome job with all of her various fundraisers throughout the year. I am hoping she has met the goal she waned to accomplish in raising $5,000 for cancer research this year. I am sure she is very close. I wanted to let everyone know that the Auxiliary raised $668.91 for the Heart Fund in February. Thank you to everyone who gave and helped make this possible. Just a reminder, we will have nominations of officers for the coming year at our Thursday, April 28 meeting. If you would like to nominate someone or you are interested in running for an office, please come to our meeting. — Penny Fiedler, Madam President “My heart gives thanks for empty moments given to dreams, and for thoughtful people who help those dreams come true.”

If you can’t make it down during the month of April, you may just drop a check in the mail to: Daffodil Eagles Diabetes Fund. Any donation helps. — Ellen Blakely, Diabetes Chairman

The past few years — Robin Sheffer, have been very trying for the Aerie. We have had Auxiliary Chairman trouble getting Brothers to step forward and do their duty to their Aerie and take Aerie Officers positions. The past few months have proven what can happen when Aerie members become complacent and don’t conduct Aerie business in a proper manner. Some will say the having our Charter suspended was no big deal. Everything went on as normal. That is not true. Daffodil Aerie #2308 has always had a proud reputation for being one of the best Aeries in the state. When other Aeries were falling on hard times, we were strong and looked up to. We always had our Officer positions filled, we always had Ritual Teams competing and winning, we were known for our good Dear Brothers and Sisters, On behalf of myself and the rest of the Wilson food and drinks, and we were known for the charity family, I would like to thank everyone who helped grants that we received from Grand Aerie. Many thanks! My $5,000 goal for the Cancer Fund is reached As your Auxiliary Cancer Chairman, I just owe so many people a huge thank you for all the support and kindness you have given me this year! From those of you who donated money for the pumpkins, snowmen and Shamrocks, to those who prepared, served and ate the Hobo Stew dinner, and open roast beef sandwiches, to those who donated and bid on the silent auction items, and everyone who helped me with the above, your support and friendship meant the world to me. To date, although I don’t have the totals just yet, I believe I may have met my personal goal of raising $5,000 for the Cancer Fund! This came about because of all the generosity of our Eagle Brothers and Sisters!! It takes a village, and once again, we truly are “People Helping People!” — Shireen Ainsworth
