Let it snow. . . or maybe not! As I write this February newsletter, it has snowed outside and I am sure is going to cause a bit of trouble for those who need to go out in this white blanket of wetness and ice. Take extra caution and be very careful as the weather gets colder. January was filled with a number of activities such as the District #7 Meeting at Mt. Rainier Aerie in Eatonville. The Sisters had 55 Auxiliary members from around the District and the Aerie had 40 members who attended. The next District #7 Meeting will

Here s a little bit of this and a little bit of that!! To all those Sisters and Brothers who attended our New Year s celebration, thank you. We hope everyone enjoyed the evening. Our plan was to satisfy everyone with the right choice food and music. We hope our choices were right. Smokers, we need your help. When you go out for a smoke, please use the designated area which is 25 feet from the entrance of the Aerie. There is a designated smoking area on the north side of Aerie for your pleasure. There is also an ash tray to place you smokes in. Please do not drop the butts on the sidewalk use the container provided for smokes. Our raffles are going to be every two weeks. The times will be announced the on Sunday before at the big weekly drawing. Our Trustees meetings start at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, The Trustee s meetings are being held upstairs in the poker room. The first part is a closed-door meeting. The meeting is then open to members with request or complaints. The snacks served on Wednesday nights will continue, but please Brothers and Sisters, only your fair donation will keep this feature in the black. Our doors are always open to Auxiliary and Aerie members in good standing. Enthusiasm is excitement with inspiration, motivation and a pinch of creativity. Your Aerie Board of Trustees
be at the Green River Aerie in Black Diamond on Sunday, February 12. All members are welcome to attend. We had a great turn out for the Sunny s 4 Cast band on Saturday, the 14th of January. Shireen and her helpers did a great job during this night selling raffle tickets for the Cancer Fund. Two lucky winners went home with $50 gas cards. The raffle tickets were only $1 each. Thanks to everyone that supported this fund-raising effort. Take a look at the calendar for this month. Come on down to support the Heart Fund Ball on Saturday, February 11 and the Heart Fund Dinner the following day, February 12 that is being put on by the combined efforts with the Auxiliary and Aerie Chairmen, Cathy Mahan and Bernie Gregory. Please continue to bring your spare change or dollars down to the potty on the dance floor for Pope s Kids. This money all goes to help care for kids with special needs. The past month the Auxiliary has initiated eight new Sisters. Welcome all and please come to our meetings and get involved. Our meetings are on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. I hope to see more Sisters at the meetings. Our work really can t continue to be accomplished by just the officers and a few helpful hands. We need many hands involved and would appreciate the chance to get to know all of you. Love & Luck, Kathy Crouchet, Madam President

Kudos to our hard working Duffers! Happy New Year to everyone. As we start a brand new year, I would like to thank the Duffers who do most of the work keeping us having fun and enjoying great golf outings each and every week. First, thanks to our Handicap Chairman Don Hughes. Two times every week and during weekend tournaments he keeps all our handicaps straight and everyone up to date. Folks that’s a lot of handicap! Thank you to the Weekly Tee Time Chairmen. On Wednesdays it’s Ron Griffin and Sundays it’s Gene Kary. Again every week these guys set up our golfing outings. Also, thanks to Mike Stone for all the computer work he does on the roster, by-laws and updates. A lot less busy is our President Jerry Hopkins, Vice President and Sergeant-at-Arms Rick Carlson. On behalf of all the Duffers, I just wanted to give them a big thanks! PS — They all did so well that they all have been re-elected for 2012.
Now again: The Winter Tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 17, 18 and 19, will be at the 7 Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course in Sequim. Tournament Chairman Gene Kary has also set up a practice round at the Wild Horse Golf Course in Kingston on Thursday, February 16 at 10 a.m. At Dungeness, the games will be Friday A & B Division Play with a tee time of 10 a.m. Saturday is A & B Division Play a 9 a.m. with a shot gun start. On Sunday is A, B, C & D Team Play with a 9 a.m. shot gun start. The last day to sign up for this tournament is Sunday, February 5, 2012!! The term “Mulligan” is really a contraction of the phrase “Maul-it-Again.” A “Gimme” can best be defined as an agreement between two golfers — neither of whom can putt very well. — Milo

Not all of our changes made everyone happy Our first game of the New Year did not go like we thought it would. The majority of players liked the changes, but then those who didn’t made the loudest noise. There will be some new changes again on Sunday, February 12 and then that’s it. No more changes until 2013. I guess we will never be able to please everyone all of the time but not because we don’t try. We have another player who passed away and it is so sad to lose someone so young. Matt Helman, 33years-old, has moved on up to play cards with those who preceded him. Our heartfelt blessings to his family. On a happier note we had 114 players with a pot of $2,850 on Sunday, January 8. The winners are as follows: First, Carl Higgins; second, Scott LaJoye; third, Don Weeks; fourth, Gary Thompson; fifth, Ted Staab; sixth, Ryan Stone; seventh, Vi Barner; eighth, Ken Olsen; and ninth, Bryan Boisvert. The final table was
really fun to watch. We have a new start time at noon and you must sign up by 11:45 a.m. Sorry, we had to turn players away. Players have to remember that we are all volunteers and we are here for you. Would you like to help out at the game? We really need help setting up the chairs and tables before the game and taking them down after. We also need help on the floor. Give us a call if you are interested. Thank you helpers for all your hard work. Thanks also to Gina, Pam and David Calhoun. Thanks to Bryan Boisvert for jumping in and helping with moving the tables and chairs — and he wasn’t even asked. Now that’s a true volunteer. We hope to see you at the next game on Sunday, February 12 at 12 noon. — Bob Reynolds (253) 535-6706 or (253) 230-2308
