Trustees Corner

Raffles on the horizon to help our Aerie 2308 We hope that all our Brothers and Sisters enjoyed the holidays and get this year turned around going in the right direction. For starters, the Aerie Trustees will be starting up some raffles to build up our Aerie improvement fund. These raffles will be held on Sundays either before or right after the main drawing. Trustee meetings are being held upstairs in the poker room. The first part is a closed door meeting. After that the meeting is open to members with requests or complaints. The snacks severed on Wednesday nights will continue, but please Brothers and Sisters only your fair donation will keep this feature in the black. Our doors are always open to Auxiliary and Aerie members in good standing. It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your enemies, but even more to stand up to your friends Your Aerie Board of Trustees

employees of this great organization. December was a very busy month. We raised a lot of food for the food bank. This project was organized by Loni Andrews, our club manager. Loni put together a challenge between the Aerie and the Auxiliary to see which group could stuff the most food in the barrels. Thanks, Loni. The losing President got a pie in the face. Was it Darrell?? Was it Kathy?? We don t know yet as I write this letter. Oh well, it was all for a good cause. Thanks to everyone! I really hope I was the winner and was able to throw the pie in Darrell s face! Thanks to all the little elves, Santa and Mrs. Claus for putting on great kids Christmas Party, and for the entire Giving Tree gift givers and organizers. You did a great job! Thanks to all who brought in new Sisters this past month. We initiated 16 new Sisters. Welcome all. Please get involved as this is your club!! January will be a bit slower after the holidays. I hope everyone had a great holiday season. Marcia is still raising money for Pope s Kids. She thanks everyone for all the money and items, such as hand crafted bibs and pillows for the children. She will be selling raffle tickets for a 42 -inch TV drawing at $10 a ticket. Proceeds will go to the Pope s Kids Project. We had a great turnout for the State Madam President s visit. More than 100 dinners were served and we had visitors from all over the state to help celebrate our State Madam President, Charlene Butterfield. Thanks to Loni Andrews and her helpers for organizing this dinner and thanks to the Aerie members who helped serve and clean up for this event. Auxiliary Meetings are on the second and fourth Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. Please join in, I would love to see more Sisters get involved in the meetings and with the work associated with our Auxiliary. Love & Luck, Kathy Crochet

‘Great Pretenders’ to play at Wilson benefit

Two cancer fund raisers scheduled

Area rock ’n roll legends, the “Great Pretenders” will host this year’s benefit dance to be held Saturday, February 25 from 7-11 p.m. This will be a ticket-only event and tickets may be purchased from any Wilson family member or at the club from Loni or Shelby. Tickets will not be available at the door unless show does not sell out. For those who will be attending the dance and would like something to eat, the bar menu will be available from 5-9 p.m. There will be lots of auction and raffle items to go along with what has been a long-awaited performance from the “Great Pretenders” here at the Puyallup Eagles. Do not miss out on this event with proceeds going to the Ken Wilson Memorial Fund and the Puyallup Eagles Youth Activities Fund. Please visit our web site at www.kenwilsonfund.org for more information. Thank you for your continued support. — The Ken Wilson Family

Happy New Year to Everyone!! I hope you all survived Christmas. As the Auxiliary Cancer Chairman, I just want to let you know about two upcoming fund-raisers. On Saturday, January 14, I will be having a raffle for two $50 gas cards. You proved it a success last year, so I will be doing it again. If you are a little cash-strapped after Christmas, come try your chance at getting some free gasoline!! Also, on Saturday, March 3, we will have a “Pull the Cork on Cancer” event. I hope this will be a fun night of wine sampling, complete with snacks. The event will be held upstairs and admission is by ticket only. There will be more to come in the next newsletter, but circle those dates. Remember, we raised more than $5,000 to fight cancer last year, and it all stayed here in Puyallup!! We proved to be “People Helping People.” Our club continues to show such wonderful support for all of our important charity work! I know you will help again this new year! Thank you — Shireen Ainsworth, Auxiliary Cancer Chairman

Elves offer thanks for your generosity Brothers and Sisters, I have to say you are an amazing “family.” Together we managed to purchase and wrap gifts and provide meals for three families for the Helping Hands House. Your generosity and spirit of giving is so touching during these very bad economic times. You each reached into your hearts and gave to these families who are less fortunate than us. Thank you so much for your donations, your help and, most of all, your generous spirit of giving. This is what the Eagles is about, “People Helping People,” so please give yourselves a nice pat on the back. Have a wonderful New Year and thank you again. — Chief Elves Cathi Mahan & Terry Gregory
