From Your Worthy President
We all had fun, but lost our Fall Conference bid Brothers and Sisters, a lot of fun was had and much was learned at this year’s State Eagles Convention in Yakima. There was a bit of disappointment, however, as we lost our bid to host the 2013 Fall Conference. Six Aeries put in their names this time and Wenatchee came out on top. There was more sad news as the state failed to make a net gain in membership again and fewer Aerie delegates attended the convention. On a more positive note, new State Worthy President Mike Simonds’ pet charities are “Adopt a Military Unit” and Fisher House, an organization that funds housing for families of military personnel receiving medical treatment at Madigan Army Hospital. As the Fraternal Order of Eagles has always had a place in its heart for our men and women in uniform, we are sure these charities will do well. — Worthy President Dave Andrews
See You At Our Aerie Picnic Saturday, July 21!
Our Sisters shined at the State Convention It’s hard to believe it is July already. Our State Eagles Convention was great and we learned a few more things. Some of our Sisters did fantastic with awards. We raised the most money for the Cancer Fund and for Youth. This is awesome. Keep up the great work for our charities. I am so proud of our Auxiliary Sisters. Don’t forget the meetings this month are on Thursdays, July 12 and the 26. If you have never
been to a meeting, please come and try one out. We have a lot of fun. Don’t forget this month is our Aerie Picnic on Saturday, July 21 at the Swiss Park in Bonney Lake. Come on out and have fun. Remember that “Laughter is the Best Kind of Medicine,” so lets laugh it up. — Loni Andrews, Auxiliary President

Club Championship A big thanks from Ellen set for August 21-22 I would like to thank all the Auxiliary Sisters and Aerie Brothers who helped me get re-elected to the office of Washington State Treasurer again for the next three years. It is a great honor to represent Daffodil Auxiliary. The Auxiliary Delegates wore their vests and let everyone know Daffodil was at the convention. Great job! — Ellen Blakely

Brothers & Sisters
Cancer Fund donations over the top!
A huge thank you to all our members After a fun and informative State Eagle Convention, it is exciting to share with you that, although we didn’t bring home a state award, we did, for the second consecutive year, raise more money than any other Auxiliary in the state!! Give yourselves a big pat on the back for your kindness, generosity and support!! I love #2308 for all those things. Even when we go through rough times every once in awhile, we always come out of it with smiles and a sense of togetherness!! We might sometimes squabble like the Brothers and Sisters we are, but through it all we make up and get on with our business!! Thank you for being there for our Auxiliary Cancer Fund and for all the other charity work our Aerie does! I asked you to raise the bar this past year, and
Yes, we are the top Aerie for Hold’em
we raised $1,000 more than the previous $5,000 from last year! Let’s raise it again and beat that number!!! We will keep going to help all our neighbors, family, friends and loved ones and beat this nasty disease once and for all!! Remember, we keep all funds raised right here in Puyallup! — Shireen Ainsworth, Auxiliary Cancer Chairman
Daffodil Roamers News
Despite Mother Nature’s rain, we are having fun!! Well, Mother Nature just doesn’t want to cooperate with our traveling schedule, so rain or shine, the Daffodil Roamers hit the road to explore this wonderful Pacific Northwest region that we live in. In June we stayed at a great resort called the Columbia River RV Resort located in Woodland, Washington just off the Interstate 5 freeway. Most of us made a side trip to the Cedar Creek Grist Mill to watch the operating process for grinding wheat, rye and corn into flour and cornmeal. This mill makes the best flour for making breads and cookies, as well as cornbread, because it grinds the whole kernel of wheat or corn giving the full nutritional benefits. From July 19 to 25, we will be traveling to the state of Oregon, spending three to four days in Fairview, Reedsport and Dayton. We hope to see a lot of new sights and activities such as the Portland Spirit Cruise Ship, the Mt Hood Railroad, The Confections of the Brigittine Monks, the Aviation and Space Museum, several of the local vineyards, fishing, golfing, and the casinos. We are always looking for new members to join our group. Come be part of the fun and friendship that our group offers. Our monthly meetings are on the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Make the time to come and see us. — Sincerely, Sheron Mozzone, Secretary, Daffodil Roamers RV Club
We hope all you had a happy Fathers’ Day. We also hope to see you at our next game which is on Sunday, July 8. I have lots of winners to announce because of last month’s game was held after the newsletter deadline. But first we would like to thank all you players for keeping us the Number One Aerie to play cards at. A special thanks to all the volunteers who step in and help when help is needed. Please listen to the rules when they are being read. It is very important that you know what they are. There is always copies on the desk for your reading pleasure. Now the winners from the May 10 game are: First, Pat Evinger; second, Scott Noe; third, Steve Boisvert; fourth, Dan Bachmann; fifth, Susan Brown; sixth, Rory Hawkins; seventh, Aaron Meyers; eighth, Jeremy Ericksen; and ninth, Richey Morehouse. The June 10 winners are: First, Justin Stenwick; second, Karleen Howard; third, Jerry Fry; fourth, Tim Miller; fifth, Glen Mellick; sixth, Donald Weeks; seventh, Jim Steffens; eighth, Steven James; and ninth, Judy Pietenburg. Congratulations to all of you. Did you notice that we had two ladies at the final table? So ladies, don’t let the guys intimidate you. Come on down and give it a try. Thank you. — Bob Reynolds (253) 535-6706 -5-
