2011 Tree of Giving Greetings and happy holidays to our Brothers and Sisters of Daffodil Aerie #2308. It is that time of the year when we look for the support of our Brothers and Sisters for those less fortunate than us. Starting on Friday, November 25, we will have a Tree of Giving in the lobby. There will be tags on this tree from the families wish list. Please take a tag and bring the gift back to the club unwrapped on Saturday, December 17.. On that date the Eagle Elves will be wrapping and collecting all of these gifts to return to the Helping Hands House to be delivered to the families. Donations of food for the holiday meal are needed, as well. If you have any questions, please contact: Chief Elf Cathi Aahan at (253) 219-6123 or Chief Elf Terry Gregory at (253) 848-2483. Ho! Ho! Ho! Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Help fill our Mouse House We have the Mouse House out in the front lobby. Please, this is the time of year when the cupboards get low for so many in our community, so let s fill it up and help out. Just a little means a lot. Remember the individuals that are receiving this food are just the same as you or I, so please watch the expiration dates. Thank you and happy Thanksgiving to all. Loni Andrews and Mike Andrews Food Bank Chairmen
From Your Madam President
Pope s Kids need your spare change Have you seen the pot for pennies, or any other coin or cash? We have a decorated Potty just inside the dance floor at the club for your spare change. Marcia McNall, who is the chairperson for one of the State Special Projects which is raising money for Pope s Kids Place, is asking for your support to help raise money for this project. Bring your coins down and unload them into the Potty. The money collected goes directly to Pope s Kids Place which provides respite care for children with special health care needs to include the medically fragile. This facility serves children from all areas of Washington State. Help us make a difference. Many things are happening at the club this month, check out the calendar and get involved. Dance, shop, visit, work and enjoy! The Auxiliary has initiated five new members this past month. Thank you Sisters for signing up our new members. Please come and join us in the fun and work at our meetings and functions. We are People Helping People. Let s start it right here at our own club. The holidays are just around the corner. May you all have a happy Thanksgiving and a warm belly full of turkey and all the trimmings. Remember those who fall short during the holidays and bring your donation of food down to the club to drop into the barrel for the food bank. Love and Luck! Kathy Crouchet, Madam President
Thanks for your help with the Cancer Fund
From Your Worthy President
Our ladies are pretty important at #2308!! Hello Brothers and Sisters, In case you Brothers are wondering why I say hello to our Sisters, it is because sometimes there is information in my newsletter that they may be interested in and they are just as an important part of our Aerie as the Brothers. They may be more important since they do most of the volunteer work. I bring this up because I get tired of hearing some Brothers spouting off that the Eagles is a man s club. Okay, that is enough soap box for now. Those of you who didn t go on the Leavenworth bus trip missed a really fun day. I think I can say that every one really enjoyed themselves, some more than others. Loni, Robin and Penny did a fantastic job with the bus activities and bar. We visited Cle Elum Aerie #649 on the way back and had a lot of fun there. They put on a really good lasagna dinner. A special thanks to Lon Lewis, who is both a member at Daffodil and a Trustee at Cle Elum. Lon put the dinner together and worked with Loni on the visitation. One last thing, here are some reminders for November. We are having our Veterans Dinner on the Wednesday, the 9th. Cocktails are at 5 p.m. We have our third reading of proposed House Rule and By-Law changes and voting at our meeting on Wednesday, November 2. I hope that all of my Brothers and Sisters have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Happy Trails! Keith Stubblefield, Your Worthy President
Please type all your stories Just a reminder again that your newsletter articles must be typed. It is very hard to read some writing even when you think it is okay. Also, please do not type your stories in all capital letters. Your Editor

Come Do Your Christmas Shopping, Have A Nice Dinner & Enjoy Yourself
Membership makes a perfect holiday gift!!! Brothers, your Aerie is running a membership special during the months of November and December. Why not give a friend or family member one of the gifts possible by paying for their membership into the greatest brotherhood in the world? The Fraternal Order of Eagles have been responsible for many accomplishments in American history, including the observance of Mother’s Day, Social Security, discrimination in the workplace and even Medicare as we see it today. The Eagles can truly say “We Are People Helping People.” The stronger we become, the more people we can help. Daffodil Aerie #2308 is well-known nationally for it’s charitable contributions and it’s membership numbers. To maintain this strength we are dropping re-enrollment and initiation fees, so the membership will cost only one year’s dues — $42. This can be a gift for everyone on your shopping list this holiday season. Membership applications are available in holders throughout the Aerie building or you can stop by the Secretary’s office and pick them up. Just think about how many of your close acquaintances can join you in enjoying what you enjoy. All this along with the chance of winning up to $5,000 in our weekly drawing that is becoming very popular in these past several months. Just give the gift of membership.
Daffodil Roamers News
RV’ers enjoy their trip to wine country What a fantastic trip the Daffodil Roamers RV Club took September 15-18 to the Wine Country RV Park in Prosser, Washington. The weather was absolutely perfect with 75 degrees, blue skies and a slight breeze. We went to the City Wide Garage Sale, and then shopped at Prosser Saturday Market for fresh vegetable, pastries, and wine. Then we were off to the business park next door to the resort were there are 28 wine tasting rooms, some with restaurants and several with gift stores. We drove into town and found a couple of local breweries and even a distillery which makes gin and vodka. In October the group met at Rest-A-While Resort over on Hood Canal for an oyster BBQ and potluck. November 17-20 will find us down in Centralia at the Midway RV Park. Our up and coming Wagon Master Ray Newby is planning several new outings, one being a trip along the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon to Clarkston, Idaho and back to Cle Elum, Washington. You might not want to miss any of these events, so come check us out the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. We’d love to include you in our group. —Sheron Mozzone, Secretary, Daffodil Roamers

GOLF HISTORY Here’s a little slice of golf history that you might enjoy. Why do golf courses have 18 holes — not 20 or 10, or even 12? During discussions among the Club Membership Board at St. Andrews in 1858, a senior member pointed out that it takes exactly 18 shots to polish off a fifth of scotch. By limiting himself to only one shot of scotch per hole, he figured a round of golf was finished when the scotch ran out! — Milo
