Thanks to the ladies of our Auxiliary, The Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center made another great leap toward finding a cure last week. During the Board of Grand Trustees meeting Friday, July 13, Auxiliary Jr. Past Grand Madam President Gwen Stallkamp officially announced a $2.5 million donation to the center from the Auxiliary. Once again, our ladies have gone above and beyond the call of duty to show why The Fraternal Order of Eagles is the greatest organization in the world!

Kansas 2011-2012 Kansas State Presidents John J. Kaiser and Peggy L. Fellers recently presented a donation of $32,839 to their special charity, the Cotton-O'Neil Cancer Center in Topeka. The center is associated with Stormont-Vail HealthCare and currently tracks 395 patients and 95 clinical research trials. Maple Ridge, British Columbia Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Eagles #2831 donated $1,200 toward the purchase of a new procedure chair for Ridge Meadows Hospital and to fund Girls World, a new program dedicated to assisting community women in reaching their goals.
New Port Richey, Florida
Suncoast Auxiliary #3153 raised $600 for Alzheimer's during a cruise earlier this year. Thanks to a matching grant from the Grand Aerie, the group was able to present $1,200 at the Florida State Convention. Chehalis, Washington The F.O.E. Historical Museum is several items richer following a bit of modern luck. Aerie Vice President Chuck Wood purchased a few historical items on Ebay from a Club Manager at Helena, Mont., Aerie #16. Wood explained that the items were for the museum and asked the manager if there were more items available. Boxes were soon sent to Wood containing medals and ribbons up to a century old and a complete drill team uniform. Medals and ribbons were from the Helena Aerie as well as Vancouver Aerie #6. Also uncovered were three International Convention medals that had been missing, giving the museum a full set of Convention medals from 1903-1931. The museum was built using donations, fundraisers, volunteer labor and space provided by the Chehalis Eagles and includes a Ritual Room with old regalia, aprons, collars and jewelry. The Historical Museum is open Saturdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. or by request. If you would like to donate to the museum, contact Secretary Suzie Krogh at 360-520-6667 or Wood at 253-858-6982.
Crown Point, Indiana Thanks to the Eagles of Crown Point, Ind., #2659, area students received $9,000 in scholarships in 2012.
Garrettsville, Ohio Garrettsville Eagles #2705 recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to local students Nick DeJesus, Howard Moore and Ashley Mullins.
Chico, California Chico Eagles #218 held a dinner dance May 19 to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, raising $1,500 for the project.
Colorado Springs, Colorado Pikes Peak Junior Order of Eagles #143 in Colorado Springs, Colo., recently raised $207.75 for the Pikes Peak Hospice.
Fremont, Nebraska Fremont, Neb., Auxiliary #200 raised a total of $4,745 in 2011-2012 for Auxiliary supported charities through monthly pork tenderloin dinners and memorials given in memory of deceased sisters.

Clearwater, Florida Members of Clearwater, Fla., Aerie & Auxiliary #3452 donated $5,530.87 generated through individual donations and Grand Aerie grants during the previous fraternal year to support eight charities including the Max Baer Heart Fund, Susan G. Komen 3-Day Cancer Walk, Florida State Scholarship Fund, Cystic Fibrosis, Robert Hansen Diabetes Fund, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center, James Haley VA Spinal Cord Injury. A donation of $1,000 was made to the Florida State President's Alzheimer's Charity in the name of Clearwater by 501(c) Vending.
St. Petersburg, Florida During the two-year term of Worthy President Barb Hansen, Seminole Eagles #4147 was able to donate $12,000 in donations to various Eagles funds. The group donated $1,000 to The Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center, the Robert Hansen Diabetes Fund, the M. "Blackie" Floyd Alzheimer's & Parkinson's Funds, the Max Baer Heart Fund, the Art Ehrmann Cancer Fund, the Children's AIDS Awareness Fund, the D.D. Dunlap Kidney Fund, the Lew Reed Spinal Cord Injury Fund, the Jimmy Durante Children's Fund, the Disaster Relief Fund and the Golden Eagle Fund.
Granite Shoals, Texas Highland Lakes Aerie #4303 donated $2,000 to the Autism Research Center in San Antonio, Texas, and $2,480 to the Max Baer Heart Fund, Robert Hansen Diabetes Fund, Art Ehrmann Cancer Fund, D.D. Dunlap Kidney Fund, Muscular Dystrophy Fund, Jimmy Durante Children's Fund, the M. "Blackie" Floyd Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Funds and the Golden Age Eagle Fund.

Azusa, California The Eagles of Azusa Aerie #2810 recently presented checks for $1,300 to two youth baseball league in the city of Azusa. Each year, the Eagles hold a "Bunny Shoot" event, where various raffles are held throughout the evening. 2012 marked the 4th year the Eagles have raised money for the leagues. Their efforts have even brought new members to the F.O.E. Past president of the American Little League, Sal Martinez, said, "The money raised for us by the members of the Azusa Eagles has helped pay for sorely needed equipment and uniforms for the kids".

Carlisle, Pennsylvania
On June 28, Carlisle, Pa., Aerie #1299 presented a grant for $10,000 to Warren Gittlen to benefit the Jake Gittlen Memorial Golf Tournament. The grant was made possible thanks to a matching $5,000 grant from the Grand Aerie. The Jake Gittlen Memorial Golf Tournament originated in 1970 by Warren after his father, Jake, died from lung cancer despite having never been a smoker. All funds raised benefit the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Cancer Research Center. Puyallup The Puyallup, Wash., Eagles are taking big measures to help bring attention to their efforts in the community. Aerie and Auxiliary Membership Chairpersons Gary Plumb and Yvonne Brown are seen here at the group's booth located at the weekend Puyallup Farmers's Market. The booth will be present each Saturday throughout the summer with volunteers educating community members regarding the Eagles' Those Who Serve program.
Washington At the recent Washington State Eagles Convention, 2011-2012 State Presidents Ivan Wilson of Span-APark #3563 and Charlene Butterfield of Elma #1440 were overwhelmed by the support for their State Project aiming to provide aid to local food banks. The project generated more than $100,000 in money and food donations to help those in need across Washington. The pair also chose a joint charity - Pope's Kids Place. The center, named for a member of Chehalis #1550, provides care for medically fragile children from birth to age 18. Once again, the Eagles stepped up, raising more than $102,000 for the charity, with money still coming in. Way to go Eagles! New Hampshire PSP Whip Wilson, on behalf of the New Hampshire Past State President's Club, presented an $800 donation to the Cheshire Health Foundation's Diabetes Fund to support patients at Cheshire Medical Center/DartmouthHitchcock Keene (CMC/D-HK). The PSP Club annually donates $800 to the charity of choice of one Past State President. Wilson, a diabetic, was chosen to make the selection in 2012.

Tooele, Utah Tooele #164 recently held a fundraiser for local resident Terry Higgins, a multiple amputee, raising $6,625.05 for the Higgins Family thanks to a baked potato bar, bingo and a live raffle.
Dakota During the Dakota State Convention in early June, the State Aerie presented a $5,000 grant to Home on the Range, while the State Auxiliary presented $1,200 to Black Hills Children's Home Society. In addition, a $500 Dakota State Eagles Scholarship was awarded to David Makastic, who will be attending the University of North Dakota.
Idaho Falls, Idaho Idaho Falls Aerie #576 recently awarded $3,500 in scholarships to area students. Applicants were required to pride a written paper and verbal presentation as part of the competition. The 2012 awardees, their high school, the universities they plan to attend this fall, and the scholarship amount are: Cassandra Vance, Idaho Falls/BYU, ($1,000); Kaylee Fennern, Bonneville/Philadelphia University, ($1,000); Cody Rankin, Skyline/BSU, ($500); Sarah Smith, Rigby/ISU ($500); and Kym Savkranz, Rigby/ISU ($500).
