Brothers and Sisters As you may know our 75th Anniversary is fast approaching. In preparation for this, the committee has decided to put together a booklet of old photos and articles from our past. We have already got most of the Aerie Newsletters back to 1952 and many old photos from the late 40’s to the early 70’s, but I know there are members out there with pictures and stories they would like to share. If you have anything you would like to send in, please mail or drop it off in our Secretary’s Office labeled: Attention: 75th Anniversary. If You want the pictures or articles back, please let us know. Otherwise they will be kept as property of the Aerie. — Dave Andrews, Worthy President

Anniversary group meets Feb. 13 Daffodil Aerie’s 75th Anniversary Committee will meet again on Wednesday, February 13 at 7 p.m. upstairs in the meeting room. Please feel free to join with us and bring ideas. We are still accepting entries for the Aerie slogan and logo contest. Remember, the winner of each will receive a $50 gift certificate good at the Aerie. — Leonard Blakely, 75th Anniversary Chairman

From Your Madam President

From Your Worthy President

Let’s recruit some new Aux. Sisters!!

Let’s get that ‘Husky Hater’ seeing purple!

Happy February! Sisters, let’s get on the ball and bring in some new Sisters. This Sister really doesn’t want to wear Husky gear. We meet on Thursdays, February 14 and the 28. Please try to come to a meeting. They are short and fun. Check out your calendar for upcoming events. Remember Laughter is the Best Kind Of Medicine. — Loni Andrews, Madam President

On March 10

Oyster Dinner to benefit Diabetes! On Sunday, March 10, we will be serving 12 oysters with all the trimmings for $10 per person or you can have a generous slice of ham and scalloped potatoes for $8. This will be the last oyster dinner until December. Tickets will go on sale 30 days before the dinner. We are limited to 150 oyster dinners and 50 ham dinners, so get your tickets early. Dinner will be served from 3 to 6 p.m. All net proceeds will go to the Diabetes Research Center. There will be blood glucose testing available that day, too. Join us for dinner, a silent auction (donations appreciated), bottle raffles and a 50-50 raffle. — Leonard Blakely, Aerie Diabetes Chairman

Aerie Brothers! Would you like to see our resident “Husky Hater” dressed up in Purple and Gold? The we need to get 50 new and re-enrolled members signed up from January 1 through March 31. If we reach that goal, the Auxiliary President (Loni Andrews) will have to get decked out in University of Washington Husky garb.

INITIATION AT DISTRICT MEETING Also of note to new Brothers waiting to be initiated: Sunday, March 10 at 10 a.m. is District #7 Meeting at Daffodil Aerie and we would love to do an initiation (if nothing more than to show those Brothers from Auburn that we can do a fine Ritual!) — Dave Andrews, Worthy President

Daffodil Roamers News

In 2013, we are trekking from the sea to Montana

I woke up this morning and we had a couple of inches of snow. But does that stop our RV group from planning trips? No way!! We are off and running to Pacific Beach the first weekend in February. If it’s anything like the previous years, the weather is usually outstanding. Don’t ask us why, but it just seems to work out that way — bright sunshine, blue skies and cool temperatures. Perfect for getting together with our fellow RV’ers, gathering for long walks on the beach, playing cards, enjoying great potluck food and let’s not forget the Super Bowl game. Our new Wagon Master, Fred Sheppard, has put together our 2013 schedule and boy does it look like we are going to visit some wonderful places. March is Harstene Island; April will find us in Kelso; May we will be down in Woodland; and in June through July we will be traveling between Ephrata and Scobey, Montana. These are but just a few of our Published monthly by the Puyallup, Washington trips. Daffodil Aerie #2308 Come look us up the first Tuesday of each month Fraternal Order of Eagles at our monthly meeting and get your own copy of in the interest of Eagledom, for and about our RV schedule. I think you will have a wonderful the Eagles in the Daffodil Aerie. time with our group. P.O. Texas Hold’em

Seahawks distract some card players Texas Hold’em players wore their Seahawk colors to show support at our first game of the New Year on Sunday, January 13. Most fans choose to watch the game at other locations, so we had a low turnout for the Hold’em game, but that was to expected. It was a fun game none the less. Winners were: First, Jim VanAlstine; second, Carl Sandell; third, Sean Monday; fourth, Eric Hansen; fifth, Judy Pietenburg; sixth, John Gallagher; seventh, Dennis Cowen; eighth, Kim Evans; and ninth, Bruce Heikkinen. Our next game will be on Sunday, February 10. Sign-in is from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and dealing of the cards is at 12:30 p.m. For your $25 buy-in, you will get an increase of $2,000 in chips — that makes your chip count $8,000. We hope this lets you play a little longer. Bubba Skiles is still fighting the uphill battle and our prayers are still with you, buddy. We miss you, Kathy Buse. Paul Morgan is still mending from back

surgery and John Gallagher fell and broke his wrist and has a terrible looking contraption on. Thank you to Cliff Mayfield, Brad Stevens, Pete and Judy Pietenberg, and to our regular volunteers for helping us set-up and run the game. Without your help we would be struggling. Please continue to come and support the best Aerie. — Bob Reynolds & the Texas Hold’em Team (253) 535-6706
