Anniversary Week Thanks to all who who helped plan our 75th!! Brothers and Sisters, the hard work performed by our 75th Anniversary Committee is coming to a conclusion from May 16 through May 22. There is a flyer in this newsletter outlining the day-by-day activities. It is my belief that the committee — consisting of Yvonne Brown, Bob and Shireen Ainsworth, Clif and Phyllis Dickson, Loni and Dave Andrews, Ellen Blakely and Jim Centoni — did an excellent job. They were all assigned takes when the committee was formed and new tasks were added from time to time —and all did their part. Please come to the Aerie during our Anniversary Week and partake in some or all of the activities. There will be drawings with door prizes some of the nights. One of our big days will be our open house on Saturday, May 18. Bring a friend and show them our facility and encourage them to join. There will be no initiation or reenrollment fee that day. On the Friday and Saturday of our Anniversary Week, there will be no cover charge. We still need more help, so if you are interested in helping out, please contact our club manger Loni Andrews. Thanks again to all who worked so hard to make this a great event. — Leonard Blakely, 75th Anniversary Chairman
Aerie Chaplain needed Brothers, we had nominations for Aerie officers on Wednesday, April 17 and filled all positions except one. We need an Aerie Chaplain. This is a great job and has a very meaningful part in our ritual. If you are interested in filling this position, please call incoming Worthy President Leonard Blakely at (253) 531-8687.

Membership Our Auxiliary and Aerie among the nation’s best Daffodil Auxiliary #2308 placed first in the nation for the number of new members signed up in March. The Aerie was not far behind, placing second in the nation for March. Our Aerie has been recruiting new members like crazy! Thank you to everyone who signed up a new Auxiliary or Aerie applicant during the month of March. Each year we are given a quota to reach by the end of our Eagle Year, which is May 31. Results to date are:
AERIE #2308 Quota 228 — New members to date 191
AUXILIARY #2308 Quota 144 — New members to date 147 On Saturday, May 18 we will be holding a special Open House in celebration of our Aerie’s 75th Anniversary. The open house will be open to the public. Lots of fun things will be going on that day, so if you have any friends or family members who have been hesitating to join — bring them over on the 18th so that they can see what we’re all about! Anyone who signs up that day only, we will waive initiation fees! There will be no cover charge, free pool, prime rib or salmon dinner, the Michael Crain Band, and more! Thanks again for your support, Remember that new members are our life blood and what ensures that we will be here for the next generation! — Gary Plumb, Aerie Membership Chairman Yvonne Brown, Auxiliary Membership Chairman

Another Eagle Year is coming to a close The lament of outgoing Aerie and Auxiliary Presidents: “It seems like only yesterday we we installed. . .” (At least those who have enjoyed their year!) But here we are, the last month of the term, only two more meetings, and yet so much more to do. Looking back, there are many things I could probably have done differently, but as they say, hindsight is 20/20. Rather than dwell on past mistakes and fret over things over and done with, we should remember the past — for not is a sure way to repeat it — but also look toward the future, eyeing the possibilities of a better and prosperous Aerie through our actions and sound leadership of our new officers. Let us all stand behind those who have stepped up to lead our home away from home this next year. Let us, Brothers and Sisters, continue to work toward the betterment of Daffodil #2308, making it a place where all can feel welcome and enjoy the Aerie. Thank you for your support in the past year, — Fraternally, Dave Andrews, Worthy President
Mothers’ Day Brunch set for Sunday, May 12 The Aerie Past Presidents are again offering our annual Mothers’ Day Brunch on Sunday, May 12. A buffet style meal is being scheduled for $8 for adults and $4 for children from 5 to 12 years old. Kids 4 and under free. All mothers will receive a flower and there will be a raffle for floral baskets. The brunch will be served from 8 until 10:30 a.m. Reservations will be taken by the manager for parties of 10 and more. Remember to call (253) 845-5021 for you Mothers’ Day Brunch reservations. Eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, ham, toast, SOS, juice, coffee and fruit are all included in the one small price. Thank you. — Aerie #2308 Past Presidents’ Club
The Auxiliary will be doing a meat raffle on Friday, May 10. Tickets will go on sale at 5 p.m. with the first drawing at 6:30 p.m. Sales for the second drawing will begin at 6:45 p.m. and tickets will be drawn at 7:30. Meat donations will be appreciated. Bring donations to the Aerie on Friday prior to the raffle or to Loni during the week. Proceeds will be donated to the Washington State Eagles Museum located in Chehalis. Thank you! — Myrna Sheppard & Karleen Howard, Co-Chairpersons
From Your Madam President
A big thank you for all your help I want to start out by saying thank you to everyone who has helped make this year a great one for the Auxiliary. We made our goal for membership, we raised lots of monies for charities, and we helped out our Aerie Brothers. We have accomplished quite a bit. We even had short fun meetings. Thank you to the Aerie Brothers who continue to show support toward the Auxiliary. Thank you to my counterpart, my husband Dave, for all of his support. All that is left to say is continue to help next year’s officers. I am proud to be an Eagle. Remember, laughter is the best kind of medicine! — Loni Andrews, Madam President
Happy 75th! -2-

Daffodil Roamers News
2013 should be a great year for us With winter behind us and the sunny days ahead, we are gearing up for our camping schedule in full swing. This month is our Columbia Riverfront RV Park trip to Kelso, where you can watch the barges move up and down the Columbia, fish right off the edge of the park, or sit in the beautiful clubhouse above the tree line and enjoy the view. We had a wonderful potluck were we always eat way too much. June and July has us on our long campout from Puyallup to Scobey, Montana for their 100 year anniversary. The fun part of this is that you can stop and start anywhere you want. Fred Sheppard, our wagon master, has done a fantastic job of getting parks along the route and information of sights to see. This is the height of our season and we really enjoy going in a group. In late July we move on to Hoquiam for our outing and in August we hit Cle Elum. If any of these campouts peak your interest and you want to join us for a meeting to get the schedule, we meet the first Tuesday of each month upstairs at 7 p.m. Come down and eat dinner with some of the members and support your Aerie in the process. See ya next month! — Sincerely, Lea Lampitt, Secretary Daffodil Roamers RV Club

The format will be a little different, but all of the information that was on the old website will be there. The format will change, but we will try to keep it as close to the current on as possible. We will try to put even more information about the new website. We will post information of the current website as to when the new website is going to be online. If anyone is interested in working on and/or maintaining our website, please contact the Aerie secretary at aerie2308@gmail.com.
Thanks for booklet items I wish to thank all those Brothers and Sisters who have brought in photos and items for the 75th Anniversary booklet. They have been truly appreciated. — Dave Andrews, Worthy President And 75th Anniversary Committee
Please type all your stories Just a reminder again that your newsletter articles must be typed. It is very hard to read some writing even when you think it is okay. Also, please do not type your stories in all capital letters. — Your Editor
There are no words to express my thanks to so many of the Eagle members for their support and generosity on my birthday. A special thanks to Mary and Bob Reynolds who organized this and to all who brought the homemade cupcakes. I appreciate every card, hugs , handshake, money and the love and concern you gave me. I have also come to realize that most of the friendship I have in Puyallup are #2308 Eagles. I will never forget my 39th (I wish!) birthday! — Bubba (Tom) Skiles -5-
