Volume 62, No. 11

e! It’s Turkey Tim November, 2013 Web Site: www.puyallupeagles.org From your Madam President From Your Worthy President

We’re heading into a busy time of the year

Aerie Trustee position open; nominees needed

Fall weather greetings to our Sisters and Brothers! We had a wonderful bus trip at the end of September to Leavenworth for the Autumn Leaf Festival! Daffodil Sisters and Brothers also had a great time at Fall Conference the following weekend in Wenatchee. We had our Halloween Sock Monkey as our mascot for the weekend — he was quite a character! Our Annual Holiday Bazaar is right around the corner on Sunday, November 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Breakfast will be served by the Past Presidents’ Club. There will be a turkey dinner from 3-6 p.m. prepared by Calvin and Lynn Larson and their crew. Come down for a day of shopping and eating! The Auxiliary meeting on October 10 had 27 members in attendance, plus the seven new Sisters who were initiated! I encourage every Sister to attend at least one meeting this year — some have already exceeded this goal. We have more than 1,490 Auxiliary members. Come and have some fun with us on the second and third Thursdays in November (because of Thanksgiving, the second meeting is moved up one week). As we head into the holiday season, stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy our Aerie with the many upcoming events for the busy season! Let your light shine! — Robin Sheffer, Madam President

We have another vacancy on the Aerie Board of Trustees. The Aerie voted to have nominations for this position at the Wednesday, November 6 meeting. An election, if needed, would be at the November 20 meeting. If you wish to be nominated for this position, please be at the meeting on November 6 or submit a letter to the Aerie Secretary stating you would accept the nomination and position. The letter must be in the Secretary’s hands prior to the meeting on November 6. — Leonard Blakely, Worthy President

Open house! Public is invited November 2 We’ll be having a fun-filled open house for the public on Saturday, November 2 from 11 a.m. to midnight. See the flyer in this newsletter for more information. There will be membership specials and more!

Oysters are coming Sunday, December 1 We will be serving 12 oysters with all the trimmings for $10 per person or you can have a generous slice of ham and scalloped potatoes for $8 on Sunday, December 1. Tickets will go on sale 30 days before the dinner. We will be limited to 150 oyster dinners and 50 ham dinners, so get your tickets early. Dinner will be served from 3 to 6 p.m. All net proceeds will go to Camp Panther, a camp for children with diabetes. There will be blood glucose testing available that day, as well. Join us for dinner, a silent auction (donations appreciated), bottle raffles and a 50-50 raffle. We might even have horse races if the dinner sells out.

It’s almost time to ‘Deck the Halls!!!’ Saturday, November 30 is our annual “Deck the Halls” event, so let’s all come down and have a fun day making our Aerie home look like Christmas. It is a Saturday but we would like to start at 9 a.m. We hope enough members show up we can be done by noon. Remember the more hands helping the merry it will be.

Breakfast with Santa is set for December 7 Coming on Saturday, December 7, we will be having breakfast with Santa and his friends for the children. This is a new event at our Aerie. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, November 20. Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for children and $1 for kids under 2. Bring your children, grandchildren or just come by yourself and sit on Santa’s lap and give him your wishes. If you have any question, please call Ellen Blakely at (253) 531-8687. Breakfast starts at 9 a.m. and is by ticket only.

Cancer fund dinner set for November 17 We are planning a New York steak and prawns with baked potato and salad dinner with all net proceeds going to the Aerie Cancer Fund. We will also plan some sort of raffle to be able to increase the amount of money we will be donating. If any of our member have an item to donate for this raffle, please leave the item (what ever it is) with our manager or Bob Ainsworth (Treasurer). The more stuff we have, the more fun the day it will be and the more money we will make The date of the dinner is Sunday, November 17 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. We will pre-sell tickets starting on Monday, November 4 to ascertain the amount of food we will have to prepare. Mark your calendar for our steak and prawn dinner on November 17. The price is $12 per ticket and all proceeds go to the Aerie Cancer Fund.
