City Council Message
1999-2019
Welcome to our 2019 Events Season, Celebrating 20 Years of Incorporation
A
s families prepare for summer, Herriman City has been preparing for warm weather fun! We are excited to offer a vast array of events, activities, and recreation opportunities to the community and hope you’ll take advantage of those that interest you all summer long. In addition to the many fun summer events the City puts on each year, we’re also proud to offer an expanded trail system, splash pads, reservoir, and numerous parks and fields. These amazing amenities are for our community and we hope you’ll find time to get outside and enjoy them. As we celebrate 20 years of incorporation, we reflect on all we have accomplished over the years. Communities evolve from the vision and dedication of the people who build them—people like YOU! The input and ideas we’ve received from our residents have helped shape our community. Many have become our greatest accomplishments, like the gathering place at J. Lynn Crane Park, community garden, and trail connectivity. We are all so thankful to live in a city that embraces that community feeling—the “Herriman Feel”—and are proud to hang on to our old traditions while working together to create new ones. Join us in celebrating the community we live in, and the opportunities we have to gather and enjoy each other’s company, as we keep our community spirit alive. Together, we are growing great things!

Grand Marshal
Marion Millett M
arion Millett has been an avid supporter of Herriman for years. He served as the Herriman Community Council Chair prior to incorporation and represented Herriman in many important conversations happening at the State and County level. When it was determined that Herriman would file for incorporation, Marion personally gathered the lion’s share of the required signatures needed. Marion continued his service as a member of Herriman's first City Council for several years. During this short time, several important decisions were made regarding public safety, land planning, developmental, and administrative services. Marion is also an avid outdoorsman who enjoys being outdoors in nature, cycling, and fishing.

About Herriman City
H
erriman, with a population of over 55,000, is located in the southwest portion of Salt Lake County. It is a master-planned community balancing small-town appeal while aggressively pursuing economic development opportunities. The city’s high quality of life, scenic environment, and abundant community amenities have made it one of the fastestgrowing and desirable communities in Utah. In Herriman, you can enjoy 49 parks filling over 200 acres, 32 playgrounds, over 42 miles of primitive and urban trails, more than seven miles of equestrian trails, thousands of acres of open space, multiple splash pads, an ice ribbon, a reservoir, and a fishing pond. The City is actively working with developers and community partners to add five additional parks and miles of trails to the Herriman Park and Trail system in the 20192020 fiscal year. Herriman is home to over 100 commercial businesses, including the Zions Bank Real Academy, a complex that serves as the training facility of the professional soccer team Real Salt Lake. The complex also includes home of RSL’s minor league affiliate, the Real Monarchs, a 5,000-seat stadium, Zions Bank Stadium, that is and the Utah Warriors professional rugby team.

A former rodeo contestant, Chad Nicholson fell into the business by complete accident. While in college at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, he was working on-air for a radio station and was asked to announce a local junior rodeo. It was instant chemistry, and since then, he has announced professional rodeos and various other events in 39 states, Canada, and Australia. Chad is widely known for his powerful voice, smooth delivery, and as a former U.S. Marine, his signature American Flag tribute, “If Old Glory Could Speak” performed in the opening ceremonies.

K9 Demonstration 7:30 p.m. & 8:30 p.m. Rosecrest Pavilion Level - Free Come see the Herriman Police Department K9 Unit in action! Police service dogs have been an integral part of public safety across the globe for over 100 years. Our K9 handlers and their four-legged partners will demonstrate their unique skill sets and abilities to locate and apprehend criminals and find missing persons and evidence. In spite of the rapid advances in technology, there has yet to be a product developed that can replace the innate abilities and instincts of the police service dog to not only accomplish the objective, but also protect the handler and other officers. HPD’s K9 team is a great asset to our community and allows us to be even more effective and efficient in the service provided to the community.

Registration to participate in selling items is $15, which includes the booth space, t-shirt, and a book. Register online at http:// childrensentrepreneurmarket.com/.
