In Memorium

Kathleen Williams is a proud lifelong resident of Santaquin. She was born July 7th 1936, attended grade school in Santaquin, and graduated from Payson High School in 1954. In high school, she was a cheerleader, and enjoyed being social. After high school she attended Long Beach City College in California to study business.

Kathleen soon met her sweetheart Mark Williams and they were married on August 3rd 1956. Together they raised 3 children, Kurtis, Kelly, and Morgan. They have been blessed with 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Kathleen's professional career was at Mountain Bell Telephone Company, from which she retired in 1991. While working full time at Mountain Bell and raising her family, Kathleen decided to pursue her lifelong goal of owning her own business and build her own fast food drive-in. Although she didn’t know anything about the food industry, she did not let that stop her! Kathleen’s determination and hard work led her to approach the challenge with a “watch me!” attitude.

In 1977 Kathleen opened the Santa Queen Drive-In. Kathleen would work days at the telephone company and nights at Santa Queen. She worked tirelessly to make Santa Queen a successful food establishment and enjoyed the relationships she made with employees and customers over the years. Recently Kathleen sold the Santa Queen, but still enjoys helping in the kitchen and visiting with customers in her free time. She is proud of the Santa Queen, and the fact that it is one of the longest running drive-ins in the state of Utah is a testament to her determination and creativity. Kathleen is grateful for the opportunity it presented to provide a good place to teach her family the importance of hard work, along with the opportunity to employ many people in the community. It is always a compliment when people tell her they worked at Santa Queen when they were kids, and how that job taught them how to work hard. Santa Queen is a legacy she is proud to see her Grandson continue.

Kathleen enjoys serving her community and spent years of service on the Santaquin Chamber of Commerce, where she enjoyed overseeing the annual easter egg hunt.

When Kathleen isn’t helping at the Santa Queen, she can be found spending time supporting her children and grandchildren in their hobbies. She also enjoys spending time in Mesquite Nevada, or her cabin in the Sanpete Mountains. She is proud to be from Santaquin.
