By Charlotte Beard At the start of every year, many individuals make a New Year’s resolution to become healthier or begin some other quest for self-improvement. For individuals between the ages of 16 and 24 who are interested in self-development for 2020, the St. Louis Job Corps might be the roadmap for fulfilling that resolution with tuition-free career training. “We have immediate openings at the St. Louis Job Corps program,” stated Brianna Hamann, Outreach, Admissions & Career Transition Services Director. “We offer residential and non-residential training. We offer students the chance to receive their high school diploma and hands-on career technical training in 14 trades – all for free.” The St. Louis Job Corps has 10 industry sectors under which the trades fall: Advanced Manufacturing, Automotive and Machine Repair, Construction, Finance and Business, Health Care, Homeland Security, Hospitality, Information Technology, Renewable Resources and Energy, and Transportation. “We enroll all year and we have immediate openings for all of the trades we offer,” stated Hamann. “Also, we host center tours every Friday at 9:45 a.m. It’s an open tour that allows individuals who are interested in the center to come learn more.” The St. Louis Future Student and Family Information Session and Tour is held weekly at the St. Louis Job Corps Center located at 6388 Stratford Avenue in St. Louis. Hamann gives a presentation during the tour to explain the Job Corps and states that pre-registration is not required for the informational tour.
