While the quarantine of 2020 has birthed new money-making ventures for some people amid job losses, it has also birthed ventures to promote change. Such is the case of The Objective Reporter, a student-led nonprofit organization based in St. Louis that seeks to educate and inform voters across Missouri about their politicians at all levels of government. The Objective Reporter was established by four high school students from John Burroughs School, a private, non-sectarian preparatory school with 631 students, during the early stages of the shut-downs in St. Louis. The founders – Ziyaad Raza, Josh

Antony, Thomas Champer, and Rahul Jasti – have since been joined by other team members from Ladue High School, Clayton High School, Parkway West, Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School (MICDS), and Whitfield. “We started on this project during the early months of quarantine,” stated Raza. “It took us about two months to get the website up and running. One of our teammates was the main person building the website while the rest worked on research, creating content, and managing other tasks. During this time, we also filed all our legal paperwork, assembled a board of directors, launched

our media platforms, and sought donations.” According to Raza, The Objective Reporter exists of more than 30 volunteers and so far, all donations have been used to purchase publicity advertisements for the organization on Facebook and Instagram. In addition, donated funds were used to file legal documents such as its 501c3. “Eventually we would like to spend our future donations on marketing for our new teams in Dallas and Atlanta,” stated Raza. “They are just starting out, so getting their name out to their respective large cities is See ‘VOTERS’ page 2
