The Disabled Athlete Sports Association recruits racers to help raise funds and awareness for its programs and athletes By Brett Auten It’s a fun challenge that comes with many benefits for not only yourself but for others who could really use it. The Disabled Athlete Sports Association (also known as DASA) is a charity partner of the 2018 GO! St. Louis for the Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend slated for April 6-8. Through this partnership, DASA recruits participants to run or walk in several of the weekend’s races and while doing so, raises funds and raise awareness for its programs and athletes. “With our athletes, there is already so much cost involved, and without these type of fundraisers we can’t help them achieve their goals,” Lauren Krebs, DASA Program, and Development Manager said. “GO! Then, marathoners head to Tower Grove Park and Forest Park before heading back downtown to finish on the historic riverfront under the Arch. “Our main goal is to get more runners to run for Team DASA,” Krebs said. “We need more people on our team.” DASA team members receive a free entry in the race of their choice, a team DASA race shirt, and many other incentives for joining.
