O’Fallon’s Heritage & Freedom Fest and Firecracker Run For a grand celebration of America’s independence, put on your patriotic red, white and blues and party with your family, friends and neighbors at O’Fallon’s Heritage & Freedom Fest on July 2, 3 and 4. The festival will be held at the Ozzie Smith Sports Complex, 900 T.R. Hughes Boulevard in O’Fallon. Admission and parking are free, with free shuttle service provided on July 3-4. The Heritage & Freedom Fest will be open 5 – 10pm on July 2, which is Family Night and features a carnival and midway, only. Full festivities get underway on the 3rd (5 – 11pm) and 4th (noon – 10pm) with fireworks each night, terrific festival food, interactive side-shows for all ages, free kids’ activities, and headline entertainers Jack Ingram, Josh Kelley, Spin Doctors, and Cowboy Mouth on the main stage. The Heritage & Freedom Fest Parade starts at 9:30am on July 4th near City Hall, heads north on Main Street, turns east on Tom Ginnever and ends at T.R. eandfreedomfest.com. Also in O’Fallon on July 4, the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce will host the 29th Annual USATF Certified Firecracker Run. The Run begins at 7am and consists of a 10K, 5K and a 1-Mile Fun Run. The event will begin at the T.R. Hughes Ball Park and the race will end over home plate on the field of the River City Rascals. New courses for both the 5K and 10K races have been designed for this year’s run. Runners will be met with a Health Expo, vendors, attendance prizes and an awards ceremony following the event. Runners can register at www.firecrackerrun.net. There will be race day registration from 6-6:30am at the July 4th event. Also, American soldiers stationed in Afghanistan will participate in a shadow run of the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce’s 29th Annual Firecracker Run. The 16th Sustainment Brigade Soldiers will run their own Firecracker Run on July 4 which will be O’Fallon’s July 3 because of the 9.5 hour time difference. The shadow run will provide an opportunity for over 100 soldiers to celebrate Independence Day while

stationed half way around the world. Participants will have fun as well as challenge themselves while at Camp Phoenix in Afghanistan. “Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen enjoy the shadow runs because they are great for morale, and they allow for us to
