The 17th annual Sip & Savor event features restaurants, wineries and breweries from the area By Brett Auten A smorgasbord for the pallet awaits. The 17th annual Sip & Savor taste event, put on by the Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce, is slated for Thursday, Sept. 3 at 370 Lakeside Park, located at 1000 Lakeside Drive. In a three-hour span, from 5 to 8 p.m., a cornucopia of tasty food and beverages will be available to sample, share and critique. There will be over 50 different restaurants, wineries and breweries on hand offering their wares. “The amount of vendors has doubled in four years,” Lori Tainter, VP Member Services & New Media Relations Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce said. “It’s a great opportunity for the vendors to market themselves to 1,200-to-1,500 people. This is an all-inclusive event with unlimited samplings. Eating from all 50 is almost impossible, but feel free to try it.” Early Ticket pricing is $30; week of event price is $35 and sales in groups of 10 or more are $25 each. No stroll-
ers or pets are allowed at the event and there are no discount ticket pricing for children. Once inside the event, patrons are good to go. There are no additional food and beverage tickets to buy and there is even a picnic plate given to each ticket holder so they can take back their favorite choices. There is nothing sold at the event as it is a tasting only. There are a varying degree of vendors, most of which come from the St. Charles County area. Cork & Rind and Sugar Bob, for example, are two new businesses who haven’t even opened yet but will be offering tastes of their products. Green Bean Delivery offers homegrown produce brought to your door, and Lake St. Charles Retirement prides itself on offering five-star dining to its residents and they will be on display to offer samples. To help set the mood for the event music will be provided Jayna Marlene and The Madison Letter. This will mark the fourth year the event will be held at Lakeside Park but this will be the first time the event will be held at the park’s pavilion.
Previous events have been at the boat house. “I think people enjoy the whole aesthetic of the event,” Tainter said. “With the music, food and drinks there is always a light breeze coming off the lake as the sun is setting. A lot come back year after year.” For more information visit foodfest370.com or call 636-946-0633.
