Celebrate St. Peters returns with entertainment for the whole family By Brett Auten A plethora of choices and activities will be there for the taking as Celebrate St. Peters returns Sept. 18 and 19. There is plenty of free entertainment from classic rock stars and your local favorite performers, to carnival rides, family shows, over 70 vendors, free parking, and tons of fun for your entire family all at 370 Lakeside Park. It will be hard to beat the price as event admission, parking and shuttles to and from parking lots are 100-percent free. “We’re really looking forward to enjoying great live music from exciting bands and affordable fun for the entire family at 370 Lakeside Park,” St. Peters Mayor Len Pagano said. “Celebrate St. Peters has quickly grown into a great community celebration. We hope to see you there.” Not to toot our own horn, but one of the most popular spots at the festival is the Community News Family Stage. The Community News Family Stage will be open and extra hour with entertainment for the whole family from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. Things all get started on Sept 18 when the gates open at 5 p.m. at 370 Lakeside

Park and ends on Sept. 19 with fireworks. Friday night, the Main Stage features returning classic rock favorites Poco, the West Coast country rock band that drew a crowd of more than 10,000 to Celebrate St. Peters in 2012 playing their hits like “Crazy Love” and “Heart of the Night.” Opening up for Poco will be acoustic rock duo Rogers and Nienhaus who takesthe stage at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18. Lisa Bedian, with the city of St. Peters, suggests early arrival with your lawn chairs and blankets to get a good seat for this double-decker show. A 14-ride carnival, including a 70-foot Ferris wheel and food, games and rides for all ages, will have sessions on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. Rock -n-roll royalty will be present as Burton Cummings, former lead singer of the Guess Who takes the Main Stage at about 9 p.m. Saturday night. The Guess Who is known for hits like “American Woman,” “These Eyes,” “No Sugar Tonight” and more, and Cummings wrote and co-wrote many of these classic rock hits. Opening up the entertainment on the Main Stage Saturday night at 7

p.m. will be another classic rock favorite, Firefall. This country rock band is known for their hits like “You are the Woman” and “Just Remember I Love You.” Saturday night’s main-stage entertainment is presented by KSHE-95. Vendor booths are open from 5-11 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. on Saturday. See CELEBRATE on page 2
