O’Fallon Marine Saves Lives
Organizations Across St. Charles County Plan Ceremonies By Amanda Bretz Monday, November 11 is Veterans Day, and there are numerous celebrations throughout the St. Charles County area to honor all who have served our country. City of O’Fallon Veterans Day Ceremony The public is invited to attend O’Fallon’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony, which will begin at 11am on November 11, at O’Fallon Veterans Memorial Walk, 800 Belleau Creek Road in O’Fallon. The ceremony, which has been planned by the O’Fallon Veterans Commission in honor of all U.S. veterans, includes a keynote speaker with welcoming remarks delivered by Mayor Bill Hennessy. Local students will read original essays submitted to the VFW’s annual “The Voice of Democracy” and “The Patriot’s Pen” contests. Veterans Memorabilia Exhibit at Heald Home A special exhibit of medals, uniforms, and memorabilia by members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 458 will be on display throughout the Heald Home in Fort Zumwalt Park. Visitors can chat with veterans and thank them for serving our country. Cost to attend is $2 per person at the door; includes house tour on Sunday,

Veterans Tribute at Duchesne High School Duchesne High School alum, Retired Rear Admiral, and local author Jack Zerr will offer a tribute to veterans. Zerr will be selling copies of his newest book,Noble Deeds. All proceeds from sales will benefit the high school. The event will take place November 11, at 7pm at Duchesne High School Library, 2550 Elm St. in St. Charles. St. Charles Veterans Day Program The St. Charles County Veterans Committee and St. Charles City Veterans Commission will host their annual Veterans Day Program on November 11 at 1:30pm, on the grounds of St. Charles County’s Historic Courthouse at 100 N. Third St. in St. Charles. The event is free and open to the public. Master of Ceremonies Jerry Bradley of Marine Corps League Detachment 525 will lead the program. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs as seating is limited. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held at the St. Charles County Administration Building at 201 N. St. Charles Community College to Host Veterans Celebration St. Charles Community College will celebrate Veterans Day with a series of events held during the week preceding Veterans Day, culminating with the Veterans Celebration at 11am Friday, November 8.
