On a day where runners and revelers alike were dressed and costumed accordingly to usher in the start of the holiday season, it was this 51-year-old St. Charles resident who people consistently stopped for a quick pic. “It was amazing,” Ritter said. “There were people standing in line. And it wasn’t just kids. Everybody wanted their picture with the Grinch.” The fifth annual Santa’s North Pole Dash and Children’s Snowman Shuffle will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, in Historic St. Charles. Put on by the Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce, the event has grown steadily with up to 3,000 runners and walkers last year out and about and wearing their favorite holiday garb while taking a run or a stroll. “For someone who hasn’t been here before, when you see all of the Santas lined up at the gate to start the race and all of the Santa’s walking around, you can’t help but like it,” Ritter said.

Racers have the option to pay online with a credit card at the time of registration or by mailing in a check. Those participants who choose to pay by check will not need to pay the credit card processing fee. All payments must be submitted before Dec. 8. Bib numbers will be generated for racers who have submitted payment by the deadline or before a sellout. Those who register and choose to pay by check will have their registration on “hold” until payment is made. A registration on hold does not guarantee you a spot in the run.
