Weekend in Madrid - the Capital city of Spain 29th October - 2nd November VISITING Madrid, Toledo, Avila & Segovia FRIDAY, 29TH OCTOBER | We meet our group leader at the Malta International airport at 5.50pm for Ryanair’s direct flight to Madrid departing at 7.50pm. On arrival ta 10.40pm we are transferred to our 4 star central hotel Tryp Atocha in Madrid. SATURDAY, 30TH OCTOBER | Breakfast and off we go to our optional guided halfday city tour of this wonderful capital city of Spain. We see amongst other places the Parliament Square, the Royal Palace and the Padro Museum. The afternoon is free time for personal sightseeing and for shopping. In the evening we suggest you go to watch a flamenco show (extra).

SUNDAY, 31ST OCTOBER | Breakfast and a free day to make your own discoveries or perhaps join our full-day optional excursion to Toledo. Once the spiritual and intellectual capital of Spain, the city sits on an outcrop of rock surrounded on three sides by the River Tagus. The imposing Moorish fortress, the Alacazar, dominates the skyline, its battlements rising above the surrounding flat countryside. There will be a walking tour of the city, including the exquisite 13th century cathedral, with an experienced local guide. Later on we visit the majestic gardens in Aranjuaez and pass by the Palace. We return to our hotel late afternoon.

castle overlooking the river, the Gothic Cathedral, and the impressive Roman aqueduct, built in the 1st century AD. Some 800 metres long and in some places 30 metres high. We later visit Avila to see its medieval walls and delightful cathedral, begun in the 12th century but never completed. TUESDAY 2ND NOVEMBER | A free relaxed morning before we check out and make our way to the airport for our return flight departing at 1.50pm and arriving in Malta at 4.30pm.
