Editor’s notes Inspiration and the urge to create art comes naturally to many people. However, mastering the skills to take a perfectly exposed photograph or manipulate a layer stack in Photoshop and finesse the different colours and textures into the image in your mind’s eye takes time and lots of practice. This skill and artistic talent is demonstrated in each and every piece of photo digital art shown in this magazine and it makes me, as editor and the owner of “My Creative Images”, both proud to be trusted by the artists to share their work and humbled by the skill and artistic talent they have.

Samantha Wells Hi, my name is Sam, and I live on a lovely little island in the U.K. called the Isle of Wight. I’m not good with words, images are my thing. So this will be short and sweet. I started with photography 4 years ago. Then 2 years ago I found 3D art which I am totally addicted to as it gives me so much more freedom to make any art I can imagine. I tend to flit from one technique/subject to another as I find new and exciting ways to enhance my art work. I pour everything I have into each and every image I create. Vivien Capper Hello. My name’s Vivien and I’m from the beautiful county of Kent, England though currently living and working near Rome in delightful Italy with its exciting, lively way of life and vibrant colours and designs. I started out as an artist in 1982 developing Indian ink artwork of a variety of subjects especially figurative artwork and abstract floral designs. I then progressed into creative photography and digital artistry thanks to Sebastian Michael’s courses at ‘Photoshop Artistry’ and the advanced course ‘Awake’. My inspiration is drawn from my love of nature, figurative artwork and Italian design, I love using many textures, patterns and colours. I’m thrilled to have some of my artwork in various publications including: Living the Photo Artistic Life no.38, April 2018, My Creative Images issues 1 to 5 (April-August 2018) and I also gained an ‘honourable mention’ in the Shift Art Challenge in April 2018. Norma Slack I am a digital artist, writer and poet from beautiful Northern Ireland. I currently live in County Down, within sight of the majestic Mourne Mountains. I have been an enthusiastic photographer for many years but it was only when I discovered digital art that I finally felt able to create images that reflected both my emotions and vision. Every day I work towards improving my skills within the fascinating world of the digital workspace. For me it’s a place of magic, a place where I can give free reign to my imagination and create the type of art I feel connected to. About eighteen months ago I began to combine my new digital skills with my poetry and have recently published my first illustrated poetry book, Thunder In My Soul: a collection of illustrated poems. The book is now available at Amazon. It is a project I feel a strong emotional connection to and has been a labour of love. Its not unusual for artists to collaborate, inspire or support each other. For example, the other day I was chatting to an artist who has been featured in this magazine and brainstorming ideas about the typography on the cover. As a result of some great ideas from Tiyana Marjanovic, check out her website, I have now created a shiny new cover and am slowly making changes to the rest of the magazine, so thanks for the support and inspiration Tiyana! This type of thing happens on a daily basis, hundreds if not thousands of artists working in different mediums come together and create some magic. Sometimes it’s not planned, sometimes one artist is simply inspired to create something to express their feeling about the talents of another artist or performer. In most cases this leads to a short conversation and mutual respect for each other’s work and both continue on to create and share their work happy that they have been able to put a smile on a fellow artist’s face (this is one of those occasions).
An AMAZING Performance I’m not a music critic, but like most people I know when I see something or someone special. A few months ago I was invited to attend a Steampunk event in Kings Lynn, check out their Group on Facebook, and take photographs at the evening event. There were a number of performers on the card, all of which deserve mention, but for now I’m going to resist and focus on one. The amazing Captain of the Lost Waves. I didn’t know what to expect when the Captain and Muzwell the mute walked onto the stage, but all I can say is that both myself and my wife were blown away! The vocal energy and magical stories that this talented performer shared with the audience was simply amazing! Visit his Youtube page for an example of his storytelling prowess I attempted to capture the atmosphere and the energy of the performace in my photographs and despite having to work with low lighting, which required very low shutter speeds, I captureD a number of reasonable images which I have shared here today. Normally I wouldn’t share a partially completed project, but in this case it felt appropriate as the Captain, who inspired me to create the two pieces of artwork on this page, has set off on a journey to create a magical new Album and I wanted to share that news with everyone that reads this magazine.

David Walker PhotoArt is no different to any other genre of art. The subtleties that the artist demands of his finest works are just as important. The use of colour, the finesse of the colour tints, shades and tones, the positioning of light, are some of the interpretations that all artists must make regardless of their chosen medium. PhotoArt starts its life as a digital image, exactly the same start as many traditional artists, save in this case the photographic image becomes the essential essence of the developing piece of art. The digital image needs to be handled and treated in specific ways, a poorly prepared image cannot be the good foundation for digital art. Many, if not most, photographers do not see themselves as artists as they strive for the technically perfect photograph forgetting the importance of the truly artistic side of photography. Some, less educated proponents, decry the use of digital enhancements forgetting that the modern camera is in essence a digital computer which makes many decisions before creating the digital image. A skilful photographer is fully aware of this and can bypass these decisions to produce their desired outcome. The digital photograph is the basis of PhotoArt but the skilled Photo-artist adds many digital layers to this original input, some simple, some complex each added with the skill and determination to produce a genuine piece of art. Producing digital art is as skilful and exacting as any other genre of art. I am proud to be a Photo-artist, it has taken years to reach my level of skill, and still there is so much more to offer! Vivien Buckley I enjoy all genres of photography but over the last few years I have got really interested in digital art and begun to use my images as composites. Joining an International group of similar minded photographers and digital artists through Photoshop Artistry, Awake and Kaizen opened up new horizons and exposed me to so many amazing artists. I enjoy taking portraits, setting up photo shoots and trying out new techniques. This set of images were part of a photographic project I undertook in collaboration with dancers, then digitally enhanced in Photoshop to create these pieces.

Claude Trew - cover artist December ‘18 I am a retired lady who is a keen photographer and I belong to a local camera club. However, while I enjoy entering the competitions organised by the club, I feel that the style of photographs that are most successful in club competitions is inhibiting my creative output. I am following some online courses to try to improve the artist in me. So far I have enjoyed every course I have done and hope to share my work with a bigger audience. This is an ongoing process.

James Hurley I’m often asked what goes into making photo digital art. The normal question is “Isn’t is just like scrapbooking where you cut something out and stick them together, surley anyone can do that?” My response, yes sure they can, let me show you one of my finised pieces of artwork in Photoshop. 15 to 20 mins later after showing them how the key subject / photograph has been adjusted to fit in front of the 15 layers that made up the background and then how texture layers are blended over the top of these layers and areas are hidden or masked, colour corrected and moved to create the finished image and explaining that the work can take anything from 8 to 40 hours to complete the response from them is “Ok, so perhaps there was a little more to this than I expected, can you do one for me?” As a photo digital artist my customers come from two distinct groups, those that want a portrait photograph taken and then blended into a scene and those that want some unique artwork to decorate their home or office. Both have one thing in common, they are looking for something different, something created specially for then, something that they can be proud to hang on their wall and show off on their social medai pages. Dawn Spears I have been producing art in various forms for over 30 years. I have worked in many different media, from watercolour to ink, graphite, and coloured pencil. More recently I have turned to photography and digital art and used these skills to branch out into book covers as well. I absolutely love coming up with ideas to do authors’ words justice. Every one of my book covers are original art pieces. I create them using a mixture of my own photographs and artwork which I blend with my own 3D renders. Support the growth of the magazine The sole purpose of this magazine is to raise awareness of individual photo digital artists by sharing their work on as many social media platforms as possible. The ulitmate goal is to create an online network of photo digital artists with a physical location where I can display their work and help them promote sales. However, I will need some help to do this.
