MyCreativeImages.com - Promoting Digital Artists

Alison Bailey I am a hobby photographer and multi media artist from North West England. I am retired and am now able to spend my time doing the things I enjoy. I love being able to go to nature reserves as it gives me both peace and also photo opportunities. I am part of the Living the Photo Artistic life community and will be learning about photoart forever! I am branching out into multi media art too so that I can use more of my own resources and maybe even be able to provide resources for other people. Most of all though I am having fun living my life as I want to. You can check out my web site at: https://estamoondesigns. wordpress.com There are links to other social media sites on there too.

Dawn Spears I have been producing art in various forms for over 30 years. I have worked in many different media, from watercolour to ink, graphite, and coloured pencil. More recently I have turned to photography and digital art and used these skills to branch out into book covers as well. I absolutely love coming up with ideas to do authors’ words justice. Every one of my book covers are original art pieces. I create them using a mixture of my own photographs and artwork which I blend with my own 3D renders. I try to avoid the use of stock images, meaning my buyers can be 100% assured that their book cover is completely and utterly unique.

Samantha Wells Hi, my name is Sam, and I live on a lovely little island in the U.K. called the Isle of Wight. I’m not good with words, images are my thing. So this will be short and sweet. I started with photography 4 years ago. Then 2 years ago I found 3D art which I am totally addicted to as it gives me so much more freedom to make any art I can imagine. I tend to flit from one technique/subject to another as I find new and exciting ways to enhance my art work. I pour everything I have into each and every image I create. Facebook is my preferred social platform: https://www.facebook.com/SamanthaWellsFineArt/ I would love to see you there, and I hope you will enjoy my art work and stay with me on my art journey.

Vivien Capper Hello. My name’s Vivien and I’m from the beautiful county of Kent, England though currently living and working near Rome in delightful Italy with its exciting, lively way of life and vibrant colours and designs. I started out as an artist in 1982 developing Indian ink artwork of a variety of subjects especially figurative artwork and abstract floral designs. I then progressed into creative photography and digital artistry thanks to Sebastian Michael’s courses at ‘Photoshop Artistry’ and the advanced course ‘Awake’. My inspiration is drawn from my love of nature, figurative artwork and Italian design, I love using many textures, patterns and colours. I’m thrilled to have some of my artwork in various publications including: Living the Photo Artistic Life no.38 April 2018 and My Creative Images issues 1 to 5 (April-August 2018). I also gained an ‘honourable mention’ in the Shift Art Challenge in April 2018. More recently I was the winner of the Shift Art Challenge with a piece ‘The Mysterious Cobbled Street. Norma Slack I am a digital artist, writer and poet from beautiful Northern Ireland. I currently live in County Down, within sight of the majestic Mourne Mountains. I have been an enthusiastic photographer for many years but it was only when I discovered digital art that I finally felt able to create images that reflected both my emotions and vision. Every day I work towards improving my skills within the fascinating world of the digital workspace. For me it’s a place of magic, a place where I can give free reign to my imagination and create the type of art I feel connected to. About eighteen months ago I began to combine my new digital skills with my poetry and have recently published my first illustrated poetry book, Thunder In My Soul: a collection of illustrated poems. The book is now available at Amazon. It is a project I feel a strong emotional connection to and has been a labour of love. A free sample, along with a selection of my art, can be viewed on my website. You will also find me on Instagram @artbynormasue or on my Website

David Walker This month’s images are designed to show the flexibility of the PhotoArt genre both in content and style and in the final output of the image. I have chosen an impressionistic style to portray some of my images from a visit to Kenya. As a photographer I was especially mindful to approach the subject of wildlife photography with the aim of achieving perfection of focus and photographic excellence in mind. As a PhotoArtist I had to learn to drag myself away from the perfectionist role demanded by many taking photographs (and those judging at competitions) to the realms of the artistic role that a true all round artist must adopt. Easy to say, but it took me the best part of five years to find a style that I was comfortable with and in my opinion illustrate the majesty of the animal kingdom far more than any photograph can achieve. A striking advantage to PhotoArt is that once the work has been completed it is possible to produce in both different sizes and on different media. The traditional route for my work has been on Canvas but alternative presentations have included Di-bond Aluminium, Acrylic or Photographic Paper. Sizes can routinely vary from say 120cm by 80 cm (48 by 32 inches) to 30cm by 30cm (12 by 12 inches). It is possible to produce at much larger sizes, but these usually will need to be produced on a one off basis. Please contact me if you need further information. See more artwork on my website.

James Hurley This is a digital mixed media grunge piece created from a portrait photograph I took, overlayed with newspaper scans, text, colours and other photographs. It was made as a method of relieving frustration after I received a one line rejection email from a gallery. Rejection is a daily occurrence for an artist and although understandable it can become painful and demoralising. The best approach (for me) is to convert the passionate reaction to rejection into creativity. This is a very personal piece of work and is one example of the different types of art that I produce. As a photo digital artist my customers come from two distinct groups, those that want a portrait photograph taken and then blended into a scene and those that want some unique artwork to decorate their home or office. Both have one thing in common, they are looking for something different, something created specially for them, something that they can be proud to hang on their wall and show off on their social media pages. If that sounds like you then get in contact with me, let’s chat about what you are looking for and see if we can create something special just for you. The Tiana Marjanovic Interview

by VivienJane

M y Creati ve I ma ge s – B eh in d t h e scen es

I first met Tiana on our Awake UK photo artist group page on Facebook and was amazed at the variety and beauty of her artwork. I’ve asked if she’ll share some of her creative processes with us. Whe n and how d i d yo u f irst beco me interes ted in p h o to gra phy a nd ph o to /digit al ar t ? I have been in love with visual arts since my first memory of motion pictures, perhaps when I was only 6 years old. Film was always magical for me, it captivated my imagination as well as developed acute sense of narrative.

Minotaur in chains

This month I’ve been in contact with London-based, currently residing in Croatia, photographer/digital artist/ Tijana Marjanovic. Her artwork is best described in her own words: “My work is a mix of photography, drawing, painting and eclectic imagination that occupies the better part of my brain.“

The early days of a digital era, for many photographers, were lot to digest and embrace. I was only too happy to jump straight into it. That instant ability to twist the image and rebelliously go against any rules gave me the freedom to shout out my creative voice. Suddenly, without endless hours in the darkroom, I could digitally manipulate image and afterwards paint over it. Furthermore, I could take the image to the moon and back and still create something conceptually familiar and all that in Photoshop. With the ‘Awake’ training course and constant support of the group I continue to develop and grow as a digital artist and I hope to see digital art becoming more and more accepted in art world. After all, gaming is one of the biggest industries in the world so why not digital art! I believe that all of us here have a responsibility to make digital art visible and more acceptable.

Ca n yo u te ll us a bit ab o ut yo ur creat ive pro ces s and w here yo u g et your i ns pi rat io n an d ideas f ro m? D o yo u have a ro u t i ne you follow? Film, books, news, my friends, my friends’ passions and their photogrpahs (like Moondog by Dejan Filipovic) my own passions, flowers, nature, horses everything breathing and creating on this planet is my inspiration. It always starts with a photograph. Like the photo shoot of an athlete in the studio where I was a manager and another by Fabrice Risotto that I turned into ‘Minotaur in chains’, or twins staring at each other that became ‘Nature vs Machine’. There is a softer side such as ‘Visiting a Man on the Moon’, where Sebastian Michael’s photo of the model loosing her balance while walking gave me the idea to create the image.

Visiting a Man on the Moon

Nature vs Machine

I am truly rubbish as a story teller in written form, something you will discover yourself shortly, but visual expression was never an issue. My imagination will take me anywhere and my ability to paint, create, capture will truly express what I am trying to say. Since my days at the American college in London where I learned all about photography and with the guidance that I received from John Davis at the time, portrait photography opened a new chapter of my storytelling and for many years I used black and white photographs and turned them into paintings. Mixed media allowed me to go crazy in my narrative. However, I was often limited by resources , space and time. The canvases were too big, the process would last for weeks and very often the end result would not be as pleasing as I would have liked it to be.

Moon Dog

Most recently, as I rlive on the coast of stunning Croatia, everything is inspiration, and everything is turning into the image and the story - Monastery in the stormy night ( digital manipulation of the Monastery “Our Lady of the Cave” ) or ‘Going Gone’ that I created after taking a picture of silvery Adriatic. I rarely have an idea before I sit down to create. This is where my imagination has a field trip. I just allow myself to take me whenever in that moment I want to go. Recently I am embracing simplicity rather than stacking layers, in order to create a mood rather than a painterly effect . I am rather enjoy this process . All in all, my art is an accident with successful navigation I would say! How l o ng do yo u no r m al l y s pend wo r k in g o n a co m po s itio n? Is it a m atter o f ho u r s o r d ays ? Some of my images took days, but not because of the complexity but mainly because I would be returning to the image and feel that something is missing or its just not right. My blue Horse took me a week but my other horses took me a day or so. Sometimes I would sit for 12 hours straight not being able to let go. This is probably when I feel like a true artist the most. Moments of not letting go, is when my art takes over and nothing else matters. The world can go in flames around me, the phone can ring, the lunch will be uncooked, the bed unmade but I couldn’t care less. Its a luxury that only a few can afford, I know… but that sense of freedom that nothing but that moment of twisting something on the screen is of an importance and nothing else, is very cathartic and liberating from the daily chaos we call life. Wi t h o u t gi v i ng away to o many secret s…c an yo u tel l u s a l ittl e abo u t the eq u ipm ent an d s o f t wa re you u s e an d wh ich item is in dis pens abl e in yo u r s tu dio ? My darling faithful MAC pro and mac book pro, Photoshop CC2019, Rebelle 2 for painting and painting effects, a Wacom tablet and my own drawings. I also use iPhone X apps that are absolutely brilliant and help in creating some additional stunning effects.

All artists have their inner child and to us all our creations areour way of playing. Life may take you away from your art at time, however, if you are faithful to your creative self, and if you promise that inner child, that you will sit down, no matter how hard it might be, and play at least once in a while…the rewards will be endless and that I can guarantee you. As you can see, Tiana puts a lot of time and energy into her projects and artwork and produces some really great pieces. For more information contact Tiana at tiyanaart@hotmail.co.uk

Our stormy lady

Just create, without approaching it with too much thought and preparation. Art is something that should come out when it’s ready. Remember yourself when you were a child and how everything was uncomplicated and every game simple and without too much thought. As children we didn’t care if anyone would like that mud castle or not, for us the end game was a play and nothing else.
