The Sheriff’s Patrol is a nonprofit organization, who receives no funding from county taxes, we are a self-supporting unit. We are an arm of The Darke County Sheriff’s Department under the direction of Sheriff Toby Spencer. We provide thousands of hours of security for our many county schools, several villages in our county, Eldora Speedway, The Great Darke County Fair, special events, festivals, and auctions along with assisting our Sheriff in providing law enforcement for this GREAT County. The Home and Sports Expo is our Biggest fundraiser along with our annual Chicken Bar-B-Que that assist to cover the annual expense of our building, patrol cruisers, equipment and training. A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU goes to the following individuals for their many volunteer hours to create this Wonderful Expo. We cannot express our gratitude enough for all they have done. Join the Sheriff’s Patrol April 6-8 for the Home & Sports Expo Come one come all to the 56th annual Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Home & Sports Expo beginning Friday, April 6, 2018 at 4 p.m. There will be an opening ceremony at 6 p.m. The show will continue on Saturday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, April 8, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. This is a free public event with donations accepted. Come experience this Great Expo in the Dairy & Beef Pavilion on the north side of the Darke County Fairground entering at the east entrance. Over 110 vendors will be located inside and outside the pavilion. There will be recreational vehicles, camping, fishing and outdoor displays along with landscaping, home improvements and demonstrations. Experience the flavors from the Sheriff’s Patrol Kitchen and other exhibitors. Enjoy fishing in a live fishing pond, participate or cheer on the youth who compete in the Ohio State Championship Kiddie Tractor
Pulls on Saturday and the National Kiddie Tractor Pulls on Sunday. The Greenville High School Wavaires will perform Friday night at 7 p.m. Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. will be a presentation by the Darke County Dog Committee. Patrol relies on support from fundraisers The Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol is an extension of the Darke County Sheriff’s Department. All of its members are volunteers, but it differs from similar units around the state. Many of Ohio’s 88 counties have auxiliary units to compliment their department, but Darke County is one of the only counties to have a Patrol where its members are actual deputies with the same law enforcement power as the fulltime deputies. Members of the Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol are required to spend a certain amount of time each month patrolling Darke County’s roadways and answer calls. They also provide security
at Eldora, Darke County Fair, high school sporting events in the county. Sheriff Toby Spencer has stated his office would not have the manpower to provide the coverage it does without the men and women of the Sheriff’s Patrol. The Patrol receives no funding from county taxes. Members are responsible for raising funds for their building, patrol cars, equipment and training. The Home and Sports Expo is by far the organization’s biggest fundraiser. This year they will be hosting the 1st annual Golf Outing in September. Admission to this year’s event is free, but donations are always welcome.

National Kiddie Tractor Puller Assoc. hosts two great events The National Kiddie Tractor Puller Assoc. (NKTPA) will host two pull at the 2018 Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Home & Sports Expo. The first pull will be the Ohio State Championship Kiddie
Tractor Pull on April 7, 2 p.m. The second event is the Grand National Kiddie Tractor Pull on April, 11 a.m. Sign-up begins an hour before each pull. All pulls are for ages 3-8 years.
You do not need to be qualified to participate in the Grand National Kiddie Tractor Pull as it is an Open Show. Join the NKTPA and watch as
these athletes muscle their way to the finish line. Just like it is in a tractor pull, the further these kids go the heavier the weight they are hauling.

Rethlake brings dancers to show GREENVILLE – Talent comes in many ways and one of those ways will be on display during the annual Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Home & Sports Expo on April 7. Join Barbara Rethlake Dance Studio and some of its dancers for a wonderful performance at 5:30 p.m. Barbara Rethlake Dance Studio opened in the fall of 1978 and is located in downtown Greenville. Classes run Monday through Friday after school and in the evening. Rethlake and her staff have developed a reputation for being a studio that emphasizes proper technique in a warm and friendly atmosphere where every student has the opportunity to develop their dancing skills. They strive to build self-confidence, grace, poise, and coordination. Listening skills and good manners are also taught. Even though the majority of students take classes for enjoyment and exercise, they stress to their dancers the importance of progressing and reaching their true potential and enhancing their lives through dance.
They have a Spring Revue each year for all students to show off what they have been learning all year long. It is also part of the learning experience. Each class performs their own routine in costume, in the show. There is also a finale’ that everyone participates in. It is the highlight of the year and a professional type show for the whole family to enjoy. For seven years Barbara was the choreographer for the State of Ohio Junior Miss Pageant. Her main responsibilities were to choreograph two production numbers and to teach each of the 30 contestants these routines for the Pageant. She has also done choreography for the Greenville High School Wavaires, several high school drill teams and bands, as well as for Darke County Civic Theatre, Town & Country Players, numerous GHS musicals, and Choir-O-Rama. Since 2000, Barbara has choreographed and performed with the Dorothy Lane Market Umbrella Drill Team in Kettering Ohio’s annual Labor Day Parade.

Wavaires coming to Home & Sports Expo The Greenville High School Wavaires have built a reputation for excellent vocals, enthusiastic singing and incredible choreography. All of that will be on display for the public during the Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Home & Sports Expo on April 6, 7 p.m. Throughout their history the Wavaires have performed from New York to Florida and each
year tour Darke County churches sharing their annual Cantata. They have also been featured performers during the Great Darke County Fair. Thousands upon thousands have been moved by their music. Spittin Image returns to Home & Sports Expo Since 1972, Brian and Blain Swabb have been astounding local audiences with their mix of vocal ability, excellent musicianship, comedy, and audience participation in a high energy show. The identical twins, known as Spittin Image, will return to the Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Home & Sports Expo on April 7, 7 p.m. The duo is known for mixing in some Top 40, classic country, current country, and classic rock, but don’t be surprised if you also hear a little Motown, bluegrass, and blues.

The Swabbs were born and raised, and still live in Greenville. They started picking their instruments at a young age, and by the time they turned 13 years old the twins formed their first group. At 14 years old they were performing most weekends. After graduating from high school, the two traveled the Midwest playing the hotel and resort circuit. After eight years on the road, they came back to their hometown to own, operate, and perform in their nightclub, “My Brother’s Place,” which they had for 15 years. In 1998, the twins went back out on the road, and now average over 500 shows per year. They cover most of Ohio and surrounding states.

Brian does most of the lead vocals and also adds the harmony to the sound. He is a wonderful guitar player and probably knows a million chords. Besides sequencing all the added background instrumentation (drums, bass, piano, etc…), he is the emcee for the group. Blain is the oldest twin (by 26 minutes). He can play the heck out of his Gibson 8-string mandolin, but is equally at home on his custom made 5-string mandolin. When he’s not playing the mandolin he is playing his harmonicas or adding his vocal talents.

the ohio s state & Grand national championship Kiddie tractor Pulls The Ohio State Championship Kiddie Tractor Pull will be held at the 56th Annual Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Home & Sports Expo on Saturday, April 7th at 2:00 p.m. in the Beef & Dairy Pavilion at The Darke County Fairgrounds. This is for all boys and girls between the ages of 3 years old to 8 years old. There will be three classes held: Ages 3&4, Ages 5&6 and Ages 7&8. Sign up time will be at 1:00 p.m. and pull time will be 2:00 p.m. Each boy and girl will receive a participation ribbon and the top five pullers in each class will receive a trophy. All equipment will be furnished. The Grand National Championship Kiddie Tractor Pull will be held at the 56th Annual Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Home & Sports Expo on Sunday, April 8th at 11:00 a.m. in the Beef and Dairy Pavilion at The Darke County Fairgrounds. Sign up time will be at 10:00 a.m. and pull time will be 11:00 a.m. Throughout the past year, the top 3 qualifiers in each class became eligible to participate in The Grand National Championship Kiddie Tractor Pull. Each boy and girl will receive a participation ribbon and the top ten pullers in each class will receive a trophy. All equipment will be furnished. At the conclusion of The Grand National Championship Kiddie Tractor Pull, an Open Pull will be available for those wishing to participate. If you would like more information regarding these events, please contact Ron Dietrich @ 937-548-4780. A Kiddie Tractor Pull is 1/10th the size of a big tractor pull, instead of 300 feet the pull lane is scaled down to 30 feet. The boys and girls will be using modified pedal tractors and pulling a scaled down transfer sled that works just like the big one. The weight box moves forward as they move down the pull lane taking the weight from the wheels to the pan on the sled which makes it harder to pull. Weight will be added until we find a winner in each class, which usually ends in a pull off. The Ohio State Championship Kiddie Tractor Pull will be a sanctioned pull. The top three pullers in each class will qualify to pull next year in Greenville, Ohio in The Grand National Kiddie Tractor Pull the first weekend in April 2019 at the Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Home & Sports Expo at The Darke County Fairgrounds.
