Wayne HealthCare classes prepare for birth GREENVILLE – Are you thinking about having a baby in 2016? Is this is your first child or has it been a while since you had a previous child? Wayne HealthCare’s Special Beginnings has several classes that can help prepare you for what to expect and give ideas on how to cope with what you are and will be experiencing. Special Beginnings classes at Wayne HealthCare are a wonderful way for new or experienced parents to learn more about ways to care for their newborn. Classes fill quickly and they ask that you register at least 12-16 weeks before your due date. Three-Week Series Childbirth Classes – Childbirth classes are a great way to prepare for labor and birth. These classes will provide important information about pregnancy, labor, and coping skills to help you adjust as new parents. The instructor will discuss pain relief options,
including massage, relaxation, breathing and pain medications. A tour of the obstetrics (OB) department is included with this class. The series of classes will be held Feb. 1, 8 and 15; March 7, 14 and 21; May 2, 9 and 16; June 6, 20 and 27; July 11, 18 and 25; Sept. 12, 19 and 26; Oct. 3, 10 and 17; and Nov. 7, 14 and 21. All classes are held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Third Floor Conference Room #2 at Wayne HealthCare. One-Day Condensed Childbirth Classes – The one day class will include an overview of the stages and process of labor, breathing and relaxation techniques, support and medication options. The condensed class will not cover all of the information provided in the three weeks series. Attendees will receive a tour of the obstetrics department and a childbirth self study packet. The one day classes will be held April 11, Aug. 8 and Dec.
5. All classes will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Third Floor Conference Room #2 at Wayne HealthCare. Breastfeeding Classes – Breastfeeding is the healthiest choice for you and your baby. Their International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) will provide information on the physiology of milk production, prenatal preparation, positioning techniques, common problems and tips to help you succeed at breastfeeding. The 2016 Breastfeeding Classes will be held March 15, May 17, July 26, Sept. 20 and Nov. 15. All classes will be held from 6-8 p.m., in the Third Floor Conference Room #2 at Wayne HealthCare. All of these classes are free if delivering at Wayne HealthCare. There is a fee if the mother does not deliver at Wayne HealthCare. For more information, cost or to register, call 547-5755.
Baby Book winner announced soon GREENVILLE – Henry Faulkner was the winner of last year’s Baby Book grand prize. Faulkner will soon celebrate his second birthday on March 1. He is the son of Reade and Jaime Faulkner and his grandparents are Wayne and Carol Fourman and John and Susan Faulkner. The family received a gift basket filled with goodies from the special publication’s sponsors. The Early Bird/Bluebag Media will soon be announcing the winner from this year’s Baby Book. Nearly 40 baby pictures from children born in 2015 are included in this year’s edition. One of those names will be drawn to win a special gift basket.
