Troutwine Auto Sales Inc. serving community for more than 90 years ARCANUM – For more than 90 years, Troutwine Auto Sales Inc. has successfully served the community. The Chevrolet dealer was purchased in 1927, by Ira, Oscar and Web Troutwine. The business was known as Arcanum Motor Company and was housed in the former John Smith Home and a building that had been erected in 1923, a onestory structure facing George Street on the east side of the original house. The ‘L’ shaped structure was built against the old dwelling and extended to the alley, then west on the south side of the dwelling. The Troutwines also assumed the gas station, which was already in existence. At this time, Arcanum Motor Company sold Oakland vehicles and continued to do so until 1932, when the Pontiac franchise replaced Oakland. The first Chevrolets sold at the Arcanum dealership were the 1933 models, with the Buick line of cars added in 1934. Another change came when the Blue Sunoco gas and oil products were replaced in 1935, with the Diamond Products, including DX gas and oils. In addition to vehicles, Troutwines also sold radios and by the 1950s, they were also handling Frigidaire refrigerators Zenith electric and farm (battery) radios and Motorola car radios. In 1936, customers could purchase Allis Chalmers tractors from Troutwines. On April 1, 1941, the company acquired the brick building and other buildings east of their location on George Street, which had been known as Raile and Morrison, or the Arcanum Garage. Also in April 1941, the company undertook a complete renovation of the original Smith dwelling, enlarging rooms by removing walls, repairing floors, removing the old fireplace mantles, which they saved. The renovation was made to suit the business needs of the company.
Shown are Scott Troutwine, Jim Troutwine and Todd Troutwine
Troutwine continued to sell cars through 1941, but by 1942, to purchase a vehicle, the buyer had to prove eligibility. By November 1942, World War II affected the company. At that time, Troutwines advertised when the present stock of inventory was sold, no additional cars would be available for purchase for the duration the war. Gas also was rationed and Troutwines was mostly dependent upon their service department for income. Then on Nov. 2, 1945, Web Troutwine drove to Covington, Ky. to pick up the first post-war Chevrolet - a 1946 model – to be sold after World War II. The first 1946 Buick made its appearance on Nov. 14, and the first Pontiac for sale following the war came to the dealer on Nov. 26, 1945. Troutwine Auto was back in the new car business. A few months later, in May 1946, the business interest of Oscar and Ira Troutwine was purchased by Webster Troutwine and his son Deo Troutwine, with the father and son becoming sole owners. Just as in 1933, Troutwine Auto Sales
continues to offer its customers the Chevrolet line-up of cars and trucks. They feature new and used vehicle sales, as well as a full service body shop, mechanics shop, parts and fuel sales. To serve the community for over 91 years takes more than luck. It takes a dependable product backed by excellent employees and service and that is exactly what the Trouwines offer, says Jim Troutwine. From the very beginning, Troutwine said, the dealer has taken a no pressure approach to selling cars and trucks, giving the customer the time and space they need to make a choice they will be pleased with. “The approach works,” Troutwine said, as evident by the number of repeat customers as well as many generations of families that have purchased cars from the Chevrolet dealership. “All of us at Troutwines depend on our thousands of loyal customers. We plan to be here for many more years to assist our growing number of friends,” Troutwine said. “Above all, without you, there is no us.”

Members Choice Credit Union Members Choice Credit Union, 725 Pine St., has been part of the Greenville Community for 65 years and is unlike many other financial institutions. It is not owned by a big corporation that doesn’t know one customer from another. It is owned by its membership. The people that trust the credit union with their deposits and banking needs are the owners. They are your friends and neighbors. The credit union opened in 1954 as the Fram Employees Credit Union and was open to Fram employees. In 1999 a change was made that not only led to changing their name, but it also opened up membership opportunities to the entire Darke County community. Members Choice Credit Union is the only credit union operating in Darke County. All members have a voice in how the institution is operated. They offer free checking, savings accounts, credit cards, certificates of deposit, mortgage loans, auto loans, consolidations, and debit/ATM cards. Where they differ from banks is that the profits come back to the membership. This means low fees, better rates on loans and higher rates on savings. Your money becomes another member’s loan for a house, car or business. Credit unions
With 80 years of combined experience, the staff of Members Choice Credit Union is ready to serve you.
are truly neighbors helping neighbors. Tina Brooks currently serves as the institution’s CEO. Lynne Myers is the accounting manager and Kennedy Pothast is the loan manager. Full time membership services reps are Dawn Harrison and Jeremy Giesseman. Part time member service reps are Brandi Hall, Kelly Spahr and Hannah Crum. They have more than 80 years of combined experience.
Members Choice Credit will be updating the front of their building in 2019, but that isn’t the only change members will see. Members can expect to find a “ton” of specials this coming year. For more information about Members Choice Credit Union, call (937) 548-0360 or email www.mccugreenville.org

GREENVILLE тАУ Little Time Handyman and Lawn Care Service, 110 Winchester Ave., Greenville offers a variety of services for home repair and maintenance. Homeowners looking to solve clogged gutter problems are invited to check out Little Time Handyman for their Xtreme gutter guard solution.
Xtreme gutter guards are a stainless steel mesh, made of surgical grade 24-gauge aluminum. The guards are available in both 5- and 6-inch widths and handle up to 60 gallons of water per minute. According to Little Time Handyman owner Clarence Godwin, high volumes of water can overwhelm gutters in certain spots, suh as inside roof valleys. An inside roof valley is the point where two roof lines meet forming a 90-degree angle, which creates an inside corner with more water flow than any other area of the home. Xtreme eliminates the need for continuous cleaning of gutters. The mesh creates a defensive barricade that keeps out all sorts of miniscule debris, leaves, pine needles, and animal nests. Other services provided by Little Time Handyman include lawn care, including a four- or five-step fertilizer program, mowing, edging, mulching, shrub and bush trimming; light electrical, roof repair, faucet repair or replacement, drywall and repair, insulation of homes, gutter repair and clean out, soffit and siding repair, window replacement, storm door installation, vinyl siding and soffit installation for homes. For more information, contact Little Time Handyman and Lawncare Service at 5470254.

Fitzwater
TREE & LAWN CARE
For 73 years, Fitzwater Tree & Lawn Care has been a name Darke County and the Miami Valley has come to rely on for tree, lawn and landscaping services, and also snow removal. Located at 4617 Jaysville-St. Johns Road, Greenville, Fitzwater Tree & Lawn Care’s success is in direct correlation to its employees. “Our entire family of employees work together to meet the needs of our customers and recognize they are our most important asset,” said David Furlong, owner. Since its beginning in 1946, family has been at the heart of the business. Stan Fitzwater founded the business and eventually handed over the reins to his son, Larry Fitzwater. David and Pam Furlong purchased the business on April 1, 1998 and chose to honor the history and legacy of the business by keeping its name. Today, family continues to be the driving force behind Fitzwater Tree & Lawn Care. Immediate family members working at the business include David and his wife, Pam, who works in the office. Jacob Furlong, son, is the manager of their Eaton location, 1201 E. Main St. Kathy Beam, sister, is the office manager; Rick Beam, brother-in-law, is sales manager; Matt Netzley, nephew and son of Kathy and Rick, is the lawn care manager; and Delbert Furlong, father, worked in the shop part-time prior to his passing. Other family members include Mike McIntosh, line clearing auditor, and his son Larry McIntosh, lineman; brothers Travis Rich, landscaping manager, and Brandon

Rich, landscaping; Doug Lee, shop manager, and his father John Lee (deceased) retired as a general foreman. However, every one of their nearly 100 employees are considered family. Every person in their business, from tree climbers to the person answering the phone, has a vested interest in giving customers prompt, courteous, high quality service. That recipe for
success has allowed the business to double in size over the past three years. In 2015, Fitzwater Tree & Lawn Care opened its Eaton store, which allowed the business to expand into Preble County. They were also able to add rental equipment and STIHL® power equipment. As the business continues to grow, they will add additional lines of products.

EB Real Estate When Eric Brown, broker/owner, opened EB Real Estate in 2015, he had a vision to have a brokerage that was entrenched with integrity and trust. That vision has allowed the brokerage to grow from a single REALTOR® that also wore the hat of property manager and office manager, a bookkeeper that also worked as the receptionist and a subcontracted marketing assistant to a full team ready to serve Darke County and beyond. EB Real Estate opened its doors on Jan. 19, 2015 at 109 E. Third St., Greenville. Their growth allowed them to move to 234 E. Main St., Greenville. Brown said, “We have built a culture within our brokerage, amongst our team, of providing our clients with the highest level of service, honesty and commitment, as well as supporting one another in all that we do.” That team now includes 11 REALTORS®, three auctioneers, a broker, office manager, property manager, bookkeeper and office assistant. Their REALTORS® attend regular in-house agent training throughout the year to continue educating themselves to better serve their clients. EB Real Estate is a fullservice brokerage that provides real estate, auction service and property management expertise. Look for EB Real Estate at the Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Home & Sports Expo. This will be their first time to attend the expo.
